    Abstract Organic semiconductors (OSCs) have attracted considerable attention for many promising applications, such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), and organic photovoltaics (OPVs). The present work introduced E143 food dye as a new nanostructured organic semiconductor that has several advantages, such as low cost, easy fabrication, biocompatibility, and unique physical properties. The material was characterized using a transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and optical absorption spectroscopy. The study of X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed that E143 dye has a monoclinic polycrystalline structure. Electrical and dielectric properties were performed by impedance spectroscopy at frequencies (20 Hz-1 MHz) in the temperature range (303-473 K). The values of interband transitions and activation energy recommended the application of E143 dye as a new organic semiconductor material with promising stability, especially in the range of hot climates such as KSA.

    Abstract Peritoneal metastasis (PM) of colorectal cancer (CRC) origin can be treated and cured. This article presents a practical guide for CRC surgeons facing a patient with PM and presents the different options of treatment at expert centers on peritoneal surface malignancies. The unexpected finding of PM could be overwhelming, especially during an emergency CRC surgery. Clear indications on managing these situations call for clarification to avoid any negative impact on the oncologic outcome of patients with CRC. All patients with PM of CRC origin must be evaluated by a tumor board or multidisciplinary team specialized in the management of peritoneal surface malignancies since currently there are available options of treatment for patients with resectable peritoneal disease, unresectable peritoneal disease, and even patients with synchronous liver metastases (LM) could benefit from a multimodal approach.

    Abstract Recent studies have indicated that many challenges exist in implementing open user innovation in SMEs. As a more advanced paradigm of traditional innovation, open user innovations are developed by users and other stakeholders who share tasks and costs of innovation development and then freely unwrap results. The work presented in this article examines the main factors driving open user innovation in SMEs, operating in industries with low investment in R&D. The work accounts for differences in the economics categorisation of the countries in which the organisations operate in (developing vs developed), and how that impacts various factors related to open user innovation adoption. The findings of this study indicate that differences between Australian and Kuwaiti SMEs exist, in terms of perceptions of success, benefits, challenges, and ease of implementation related to open user innovation. In addition, some differences are observed in the drivers for sensing open user innovation opportunities between the two countries examined.

    Abstract This paper provides a comprehensive review of ultra-high-performance geopolymer concrete (UHPGPC), an innovative, eco-friendly, and cost-effective variant of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), devised to meet the rising request for ultra-high-strength construction materials. Previous research papers have not thoroughly analyzed and compared the rheological, physical, durability, and microstructural properties of UHPGPC with UHPC. Similarly, review articles scarcely investigate UHPGPC's strength properties and microstructural behavior under high temperatures. This paper includes an assessment of the correlation between compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and modulus of elasticity (MOE). The current study also compares chloride ion penetration test outcomes, elevated temperature, electrical resistivity, and porosity tests to evaluate durability. To analyze the microstructure of UHPGPC, the paper assesses results from Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry (MIP). The findings from the present paper suggest that UHPGPC effectively meets the ideal mechanical property specifications of UHPC. Compared to UHPC, UHPGPC displayed a higher ion passage propensity due to larger pores (>100 nm). Geopolymer technologies present a greener path for producing UHPC by consuming less energy and emitting reduced CO

    Abstract The preparation of poly (vinyl alcohol)/chitosan/ZnO (PVA/Cs/ZnO) nanocomposite films as bioactive nanocomposites was implemented through an environmentally friendly approach that included mixing, solution pouring, and solvent evaporation. The nanocomposite films were characterized using various techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The XRD study revealed the encapsulation of nanoparticles by the PVA/Cs blend matrix. The DSC results showed that the addition of ZnO NPs increased glass transition and melting temperature values of the PVA/Cs blend. ATR-FTIR spectra detected an irregular shift (either red or blue) in some of the characteristic bands of the PVA/Cs nanocomposite, indicating the existence of intra/intermolecular hydrogen bonding creating an interaction between the OH groups of PVA/Cs and ZnO nanoparticles. A thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis demonstrated that the nanocomposites achieved better thermal resistance than a pure PVA/Cs blend and its thermal stability was enhanced with increasing concentration of ZnO nanoparticles. UV analysis showed that with an increase in the content of ZnO NPs, the optical bandgap of PVA/Cs was decreased from 4.43 eV to 3.55 eV and linear and nonlinear parameters were enhanced. Our optical results suggest the use of PVA/Cs/ZnO nanocomposite films for various optoelectronics applications. PVA/Cs/ZnO nanocomposites exhibited significant antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It was found that nanocomposite samples were more effective against Gram-positive compared to Gram-negative bacteria.

    Abstract Parents with infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) experience high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Mindfulness and relaxation-based interventions are effective in reducing distress in the general postpartum population. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate whether mindfulness and/or relaxation-based interventions reduce stress, anxiety, and depression in NICU parents. A total of five studies met the inclusion criteria and were assessed for quality using the Downs & Black Checklist. The most consistent results in this review suggest that mindfulness and/or relaxation-based interventions may be effective at reducing anxiety symptoms in NICU parents, with moderate to large effect sizes, and show promise in reducing depressive symptoms. The findings show limited potential benefits on parental stress. Methodological weaknesses, heterogeneous intervention factors (including format and length), and varying participant adherence hinder the ability to make strong conclusions. Directions for future research are discussed.

    Abstract Background: Cross-sectional research demonstrates associations between illness perceptions and glycemic control in people with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Prospective studies are limited and show mixed findings. This study aimed to investigate (1) whether baseline illness perceptions predicted glycemic control (HbA1c levels) at 6-12-month follow-up and (2) possible differences in baseline illness perceptions between individuals who completed at least one HbA1c blood test during the 12-month follow-up and those who did not.
    Methods: A total of 115 individuals with T2D were recruited from an outpatient clinic. Demographic and clinical information and illness perceptions were assessed at baseline. HbA1c was assessed at baseline and 12 months later from clinical records. Hierarchical multiple linear regression examined associations between baseline illness perceptions and HbA1c levels at 6-12-month follow-up, controlling for age, sex, education, types of diabetes medication, and baseline HbA1c.
    Results: Univariate analysis showed perceived weight management effectiveness at baseline was associated with lower HbA1c at follow-up (rho = -.25, p = .04, n = 67). Adjusted multiple regression showed that HbA1c at baseline was the only significant predictor of HbA1c at 6-12-month follow-up (β = 0.51, p < .001). There were no significant differences in baseline illness perceptions between individuals who completed HbA1c blood tests during follow-up (n = 78) and those who did not (n = 34), p > .05.
    Conclusion: Illness perceptions at baseline did not predict longitudinal HbA1c in adjusted analyses, nor completion of HbA1c tests. Results may be due to temporal variability in HbA1c and barriers to accessing blood tests.

    Abstract This article investigates how the use of a deliberate approach of analyzing a given reading may predict differences in CVA effectiveness. Sixty Arab EFL learners were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group, thirty participants for each. The experimental group received training in the deliberate Clarke and Nation (System 8:211-220, 1980) CVA technique, whereas the control group were not guided through a training method. Then, both groups were asked to answer three vocabulary tests and then participate to finish a series of six readings adjusted using Nation's K-level reading lexicon to control the difficult words during readings. After treatments, the students took a post-test vocabulary session. Results show that the group that have used the deliberate CVA technique retained about twice as many new words as the other group did. That is the use of a deliberate-CVA methodology significantly improves learning. The experimental manipulation produced a learning effect that was 76.1% greater than that of the control group in terms of word context recognition and 128.0% greater than that of the control group in terms of word definition accuracy. Pedagogical implications, limitations and directions for further research are discussed.
