    Abstract The impact of air pollution is one of the hotspots attracting continuous scholarly attention, but the comprehensive statistical and visual analysis reviews are few. Employing the method of bibliometric analysis, this paper took the relevant literature from 1996 to April 2022 on the Web of Science as the research object. Through the methods of keyword co-occurrence analysis and burst analysis, the spatiotemporal evolution trend, cooperation network, outstanding scholars, knowledge base, and research focus of air pollution impact research are visually presented. Via constructing a common word matrix of high-frequency words, clustering analysis is used to aggregate high-frequency keywords into 24 clusters. By the strategic coordinate analysis method, the relationships within and between clusters were revealed. The main findings include (1) research on the impact of air pollution mainly focusing on human health; (2) the six keywords with the highest centrality are California, hydrocarbons, dioxide, generation, Asia, and diesel; (3) these 11 clusters may be developed into future research hotspots: particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, mortality, ozone, pollution, air quality, asthma, children, epidemiology, aerosols, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; and (4) seven topics are research hot: daily mortality, long-term exposure, coronary heart disease, concentration, North China plain, traffic-related air pollution, and air pollution.

    Abstract Reversible deactivation radical polymerization (RDRP) is a facile and highly efficient technique for the synthesis of well-defined polymer with precise structure. dl-Methionine (Met) as a RDRP control agent is described and assessed for RDRP of styrene (St) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) with AIBN as radical initiator at 75 °C, which enables excellent control of this polymerization. The addition of dl-Methionine significantly decreased the dispersity (Đ) of the polymers for both monomers and first-order linear kinetic plots of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) are observed in DMSO. Considering the heat resistance of dl-Methionine, kinetic studies indicate that polymerization develops at a faster rate at higher reaction temperature (100 °C) with the same dl-Methionine content. Well-defined polymethyl methacrylate-block-polystyrene (PMMA-block-PSt) is successfully achieved by the chain extension reaction that demonstrates the high end fidelities of this polymerization approach. The system allows the use of dl-Methionine, a rich source and easily synthesized agent, to mediate RDRP strategy.

    Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common malignancy with high mortality. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying CRC remain unclear. Controversies over the exact functions of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in the progression of CRC have been prevailing for multiple years. Recently, accumulating evidence has demonstrated the regulatory roles of ncRNAs in various human cancers, including CRC. The intracellular signaling pathways by which ncRNAs act on tumor cells have been explored, and in CRC, various studies have identified numerous dysregulated ncRNAs that serve as oncogenes or tumor suppressors in the process of tumorigenesis through diverse mechanisms. In this review, we have summarized the functions and mechanisms of ncRNAs (mainly lncRNAs, miRNAs, and circRNAs) in the tumorigenesis of CRC. We also discuss the potential applications of ncRNAs as diagnostic and prognostic tools, as well as therapeutic targets in CRC. This review details strategies that trigger the recognition of CRC-related ncRNAs, as well as the methodologies and challenges of studying these molecules, and the forthcoming clinical applications of these findings.

    Abstract Background: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a primary microvascular complication of diabetes with limited therapeutic effects. Delving into the pathogenic mechanisms of DKD and identifying new therapeutic targets is crucial. Emerging studies reveal the implication of ferroptosis and immune dysregulation in the pathogenesis of DKD, however, the precise relationship between them remains not fully elucidated. Investigating their interplay is pivotal to unraveling the pathogenesis of diabetic kidney disease, offering insights crucial for targeted interventions and improved patient outcomes.
    Methods: Integrated analysis, Consensus clustering, Machine learning including Generalized Linear Models (GLM), RandomForest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Extreme Gradient Boosting (xGB), Artificial neural network (ANN) methods of DKD glomerular mRNA sequencing were performed to screen DKD-related ferroptosis genes.CIBERSORT, ESTIMATE and ssGSEA algorithm were used to assess the infiltration of immune cells between DKD and control groups and in two distinct ferroptosis phenotypes. The ferroptosis hub genes were verified in patients with DKD and in the db/db spontaneous type 2 diabetes mouse model via immunohistochemical and Western blotting analyses in mouse podocyte MPC5 and mesangial SV40-MES-13 cells under high-glucose (HG) conditions.
    Results: We obtained 16 differentially expressed ferroptosis related genes and patients with DKD were clustered into two subgroups by consensus clustering. Five ferroptosis genes (DUSP1,ZFP36,PDK4,CD44 and RGS4) were identified to construct a diagnostic model with a good diagnosis performance in external validation. Analysis of immune infiltration revealed immune heterogeneity between DKD patients and controls.Moreover, a notable differentiation in immune landscape, comprised of Immune cells, ESTIMATE Score, Immune Score and Stromal Score was observed between two FRG clusters. GSVA analysis indicated that autophagy, apoptosis and complement activation can participate in the regulation of ferroptosis phenotypes. Experiment results showed that ZFP36 was significantly overexpressed in both tissue and cells while CD44 was on the contrary.Meanwhile,spearman analysis showed both ZFP36 and CD44 has a strong correlation with different immune cells,especially macrophage.
    Conclusion: The regulation of the immune landscape in DKD is significantly influenced by the focal point on ferroptosis. Newly identified ferroptosis markers, CD44 and ZFP36, are poised to play essential roles through their interactions with macrophages, adding substantial value to this regulatory landscape.

    Abstract Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide in global agricultural cultivation. However, little is known about the environmental risks associated with its migration and transformation. We conducted light irradiation experiments to study the dynamics and mechanism of photodegradation of glyphosate in ditches, ponds and lakes, and evaluated the effect of glyphosate photodegradation on algae growth through algae culture experiments. Our results showed that glyphosate in ditches, ponds and lakes could undergo photochemical degradation under sunlight irradiation with the production of phosphate, and the photodegradation rate of glyphosate in ditches could reach 86% after 96 h under sunlight irradiation. Hydroxyl radicals (•OH) was the main reactive oxygen species (ROS) for glyphosate photodegradation, and its steady-state concentrations in ditches, ponds and lakes were 6.22 × 10

    Abstract The Chinese white wax scale, Ericerus pela, is an insect native to China. It harbors a variety of microbes. The Paraconiothyrium fungus was isolated from E. pela and genome sequenced in this study. A fungal cytotoxicity assay was performed on the Aedes albopictus cell line C6/36. The assembled Paraconiothyrium sp. genome was 39.55 Mb and consisted of 14,174 genes. The coding sequences accounted for 50.75% of the entire genome. Functional pathway analyses showed that Paraconiothyrium sp. possesses complete pathways for the biosynthesis of 20 amino acids, 10 of which E. pela lacks. It also had complementary genes in the vitamin B groups synthesis pathways. Secondary metabolism prediction showed many gene clusters that produce polyketide. Additionally, a large number of genes associated with ‘reduced virulence’ in the genome were annotated with the Pathogen–Host Interaction database. A total of 651 genes encoding carbohydrate-active enzymes were predicted to be mostly involved in plant polysaccharide degradation. Pan-specific genomic analyses showed that genes unique to Paraconiothyrium sp. were enriched in the pathways related to amino acid metabolism and secondary metabolism. GO annotation analysis yielded similar results. The top COG categories were ‘carbohydrate transport and metabolism’, ‘lipid transport and metabolism’, and ‘secondary metabolite biosynthesis, transport and catabolism’. Phylogenetic analyses based on gene family and pan genes showed that Paraconiothyrium sp is clustered together with species from the Didymosphaeriaceae family. A multi-locus sequence analysis showed that it converged with the same branch as P. brasiliense and they formed one group with fungi from the Paraconiothyrium genus. To validate the in vitro toxicity of Paraconiothyrium sp., a cytotoxicity assay was performed. The results showed that medium-cultured Paraconiothyrium sp. had no harmful effect on cell viability. No toxins were secreted by the fungus during growth. Our results imply that Paraconiothyrium sp. may establish a symbiotic relationship with the host to supply complementary nutrition to E. pela.

    Abstract The Pleosporales is the most predominant order in the Dothideomycetes class, which contains over 4700 species that function in a variety of ways. The material used in this research was previously isolated from the Chinese white wax scale insect, and it was determined to be a Paraconiothyrium genus species that belonged to the Pleosporales order. For further molecular analysis, we assembled the complete mitochondrial genome of Paraconiothyrium sp. based on short reads of BGISEQ sequencing and subreads from Pacbio sequencing. The results showed that it was 42,734 bp in length and contained 8 open reading frames, 12 protein-coding genes and 31 non-coding genes. Phylogenetic analysis showed it was affiliated to the Pleosporales order and formed a sister relationship with Pithomyces chartarum. Compared to the seven other species in the Pleosporales order, Paraconiothyrium sp. has generally conserved gene content and structure, while the homologous blocks and gene order were shown to be significantly rearranged, in accordance with the species diversity in the Pleosporales order. In this study, we presented the first mitochondrial genome of Paraconiothyrium fungi to be reported, and we also showed gene order diversity in the Pleosporales order. These findings will lay the foundation for further species studies regarding molecular diversity and our understanding of species characteristics in the Paraconiothyrium genus.

    Abstract Migraine is a medical condition with a severe recursive headache. The activation of the trigeminovascular system is an important mechanism. The neuropeptide calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of migraine. Several other neuropeptides are also involved; however, their roles in migraine remain unclear. In this study, using a rat model of migraine induced by electrical stimulation of the trigeminal ganglia (TG) and an improved version induced with repeated stimulation, we observed the dynamic changes of these peptides in TG and blood. We demonstrated that the expression of CGRP, pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP), neuropeptide Y (NPY), vasoactive intestinal peptide, and nociceptin in TG was significantly elevated and peaked at different time points after a single stimulation. Their levels in the blood plasma were significantly increased at 12 h after stimulation. The peptides were further elevated with repeated stimulation. The improved rat model of migraine with repeated stimulation of TG resulted in a more pronounced elevation of CGRP, PACAP, and NPY. Thus, the dynamic changes in neuropeptides after stimulation suggest that these neuropeptides may play an important role in the pathogenesis of migraine. Additionally, the migraine model with repetitive stimulation would be a novel model for future research.

    Abstract Background: Hypertension is a common chronic disease that can lead to serious health problems. Previous studies have not drawn a consistent conclusion about the effect of proanthocyanidins (PCs) on blood pressure (BP). This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to evaluate the effect of PCs supplementation on blood pressure (BP).
    Methods: A comprehensive literature search was performed in 6 databases (Pubmed, Scopus, ISI Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, Embase and Google Scholar) to identify the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the BP-lowering effect of PCs. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were conducted to evaluate the potential heterogeneity. Meta-regression analysis was used to evaluate dose effects of PCs on BP.
    Results: A total of 6 studies comprising 376 subjects were included in our meta-analysis to estimate the pooled effect size. This meta-analysis suggested that PCs supplementation could significantly reduce systolic blood pressure (SBP) (WMD: -4.598 mmHg; 95 % CI: -8.037, -1.159; I
    Conclusion: Based on the current findings, PCs supplementation may be a useful treatment of hypertensive patients as well as a preventive measure in the prehypertensive and healthy subjects. However, further investigation is needed to confirm these results.
