Abstract Within the scope of this research, patterns of changes in the fatigue life and limit of metals under cyclic stress were identified and the most informative parameters were determined as the basis for developing a method for the universal transformation of experimental data on the fatigue of metals and alloys for their subsequent generalization. Experimental data on metal fatigue, obtained by a large number of authors for a wide range of grades of steels and alloys, under the influence of various combinations of factors, were systematized. A generalized dependence of the recalculated parameters of fatigue life and limit was obtained, its characteristics were assessed, and a sensitivity analysis was performed, confirming the universal nature of the obtained dependence. A system of parameters has been proposed making it possible to consider and forecast high-cycle fatigue processes for a wide range of metals and alloys, under the conditions of various combinations of operating factors, from unified positions and a more general point of view.

Abstract In the present work, the possibility of manufacturing long-length TiNiHf rods with a lowered Hf content and a high-temperature shape memory effect in the range of 120-160 °C was studied. Initial ingots with 1.5, 3.0 and 5.0 at.% Hf were obtained by electron beam melting in a copper water-cooled stream-type mold. The obtained ingots were rotary forged at the temperature of 950 °C, with the relative strain from 5 to 10% per one pass. The obtained results revealed that the ingots with 3.0 and 5.0 at.% Hf demonstrated insufficient technological plasticity, presumably because of the excess precipitation of (Ti,Hf)

Abstract The experience of operating geothermal thermal power plants shows that during the first 5 years, their economic performance deteriorates, because there is a change in the temperature field of the soil. It is also important to consider: seasonal cyclical changes in the heat load and possible reversal of the heat flow when switching from heating to air conditioning and vice versa. An option is considered, which, when the coolant fills the well, directly contacting the surface of the casing. During well operation, seasonal or technological changes in well load are taken into account. The well is operating in reverse mode. The conditions for calculation are determined by the alternation of the periods of turning on the heat pump with the cyclical periods of stopping, determined by the season. Research have shown that as a result of longterm operation of a geothermal well in a cyclic mode of thermal loading, there are changes of a temperature field of the rock surrounding a well, with effect of interference of thermal waves, leading to accumulation of heat. Based on the processing of the results obtained criterion equations for calculating the dimensionless temperature of the well at the time of completion of the cycle of heat supply or removal, as the corresponding largest temperature difference heat pump. The received equations allow to specify calculation of technical and economic indicators taking into account duration of geothermal well operation and its mode.

  10. Article: Comparative Assessment of Various Methods for Predicting Protein Content in Wheat Grain

Abstract: Using multiple regression analysis, a second-order equation reflecting the dependence of protein content (Y = Nₜₒₜ × 5.7%) in wheat grain on wet gluten content (X₁, %) and thousand kernel weight (TKW) (X₂, g) was obtained: Y = 16.0570 + 0.6768[Formula: ... ...

Abstract Using multiple regression analysis, a second-order equation reflecting the dependence of protein content (Y = Nₜₒₜ × 5.7%) in wheat grain on wet gluten content (X₁, %) and thousand kernel weight (TKW) (X₂, g) was obtained: Y = 16.0570 + 0.6768[Formula: see text] – 0.0032X₂ – 0.7891X₂ + 0.0083[Formula: see text]. In this equation, protein content is given in terms of absolutely dry matter (DM), and gluten content and TKW are given in terms of 12% moisture or air-dry matter (ADM). When using the developed equation for forecasting in cases where protein content was measured without taking into account grain moisture content (ADM) and TKW was measured in terms of DM, these indicators were recalculated using the coefficient of 1.136. Data on comparative assessment of predictive capabilities and accuracy of the equation developed here and the one proposed for Kazakhstan wheat, Y = 5.3270 + 0.3159X₁, are presented. The linear equation developed for Kazakhstan wheat reflects the dependence of protein content on wet gluten content in different cultivars only in a relatively narrow range of variation in grain protein content, 12.0–17.0%, while the equation developed here holds for almost the entire biological range, 7.9–21.1% DM.
