Abstract Paddy bunt or kernel smut of rice caused by Tilletia barclayana (Syn. Neovossia barclayana, N. horrida) is major disease of rice growing countries. Seeds of two lots of Pusa 44 variety produced during kharif 2014 and one lot produced during kharif 2015 were processed. Pre-cleaner and screen grader removed 44.7, 34.8 and 42.2% of total bunt infected seed present in the three seed lots and reduced bunt infection from 1.32 to 0.73, 1.58 to 1.03 and 3.05 to 1.76%, respectively. Eighteen combination treatments comprising of three deck slopes (S1- 2.50, S2- 2.00, S3- 1.50), three feedings (F1- 9 kg, F2- 12 kg, F3- 15 kg per minute) and two output settings (O1- 30cm deck width, O2- 40cm deck width) of specific gravity separator were studied with an objective of getting maximum bunt free seed per unit of time. Maximum seed recovery (13.27 and 13.31 and 13.60 kg/minute) and bunt infection in final product (0.44, 0.41 and 0.46%) with 89.1, 89.7 and 92.3% recovery efficiency was obtained by the treatment S3F3O2 (slope of deck 1.50, feeding 15 kg/minute, output deck width 40 cm) in the three seed lots. Thus, mechanical processing reduced bunt infection by more than 65%, depending on the intensity of infection, as well as increased seed quality i.e. seed germination improved by 6.5% and physical purity by 5.34%.

Abstract Deposition of amyloid in tissues and organs leads to amyloidosis, impacting the function of vital organs and often resulting in mortality. About 42 proteins in humans and 10 in animals are known to form amyloid deposits. Amyloid research in humans has gained considerable pace in recent years but not in the case of animals. Being an essential part of the ecosystem, animals contribute significantly to the world economy. Many retrospective studies have shown amyloidosis as a possible cause of animal death. Underdiagnosis of amyloidosis in animals may also increase the chance of zoonotic transmission. Hence, assessment of the prevalence of amyloidosis necessitates significant attention. An early diagnosis will improve the overall prognosis and decrease in the fatality of animals. This article strives to bring this issue to the attention of scientists, veterinarians, and primary caretakers of animals. This will help in the diagnosis and treatment of amyloidosis in animals.

Abstract Bakuchiol, is a principal bioactive component present in seeds of Psoralea corylifolia. It is one of the important monoterpene phenols and has been reported to possess extensive pharmacological properties like antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and hepatoprotective. Bakuchiol also plays a significant role in mental disorders. With an aim to explore the pharmacological potential of plant Psoralea corylifolia and its bioactive constituent, Bakuchiol; which may act as a lead to develop new molecular entities as drugs. A substantial literature survey was performed by scientific search engines like PubMed, Scopus,Web of Science, Science Direct, etc., and were reviewed with particular emphasis on their scientific impact and novelty. The study concludes that both Psoralea and bakuchiol possess innumerable pharmacological potentials to treat multiple disorders. Altogether, the promising pharmacological activities of bakuchiol may open new probes for therapeutic invention in the management of numerous ailments. Thus, the present review gives the erudition of bakuchiol as d foundation for further studies on the molecular mechanisms of BXXXD in the treatment of T2DM.
