    Abstract Introduction: Many studies have explored the food environment to characterise it and understand its role in food practices. Assessment of the organisational food environment can contribute to the development of more effective interventions to promote adequate and healthy eating. However, few instruments and indicators have been developed and validated for assessing this type of setting. The systematisation of those can be useful to support the planning of future assessments and the development of wide-ranging instruments. This study aims to conduct a scoping review to systematise evidence on instruments and indicators for assessing organisational food environments.
    Methods and analysis: This scoping review was planned according to the methodological framework for scoping reviews proposed by Arksey and O'Malley and subsequently enhanced by Levac
    Ethics and dissemination: This study is based on the analysis of published scientific literature and did not involve patients, medical research, or any type of personal information; therefore, no ethical approval was obtained for this study. The results of this scoping review will be submitted for publication in an international peer-reviewed journal, preferably open access.

    Abstract Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a widely employed treatment for Parkinson's disease. However, conventional DBS utilizing ring-shaped leads can often result in undesirable side effects by stimulating nearby brain structures, thus limiting its effectiveness. To address this issue, a novel DBS electrode was developed to allow for directional stimulation, avoiding neighboring structures. This literature review aims to analyze the disparities between conventional and directional DBS and discuss the benefits and limitations associated with this innovative electrode design, focusing on the stimulation-induced side effects it can or cannot mitigate. A comprehensive search was conducted in MEDLINE/PubMed, ScienceDirect, and EBSCO databases using the Boolean search criteria: "Deep brain stimulation" AND "Parkinson" AND "Directional." Following the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria, the selected articles were downloaded for full-text reading. Subsequently, the results were organized and analyzed to compose this article. Numerous studies have demonstrated that directional DBS effectively reduces side effects associated with brain stimulation, prevents the stimulation of non-targeted structures, and expands the therapeutic window, among other advantages. However, it has been observed that directional DBS may be more challenging to program and requires higher energy consumption. Furthermore, there is a lack of standardization among different manufacturers of directional DBS electrodes. Various stimulation-induced side effects, including dysarthria, dyskinesia, paresthesias, and symptoms of pyramidal tract activation, have been shown to be mitigated with the use of directional DBS. Moreover, directional electrodes offer a wider therapeutic window and a reduced incidence of undesired effects, requiring the same or lower minimum current for symptom relief compared to conventional DBS. The utilization of directional leads in DBS offers numerous advantages over conventional electrodes without significant drawbacks for patients undergoing directional DBS therapy.

    Abstract The objective of this study was to describe the evolution of household purchase of added sugars and their main food sources in Brazil. Nationally representative data from the Household Budget Surveys from 2002-2003, 2008-2009 and 2017-2018 were used. Energy and added sugar quantities were estimated by means of per capita food quantities. The items considered as food sources were: (1) table sugar: refined sugar and other energetic sweeteners and (2) processed and ultra-processed foods with added sugar: soft drinks; other drinks; sweets, candies and chocolates; cookies; cakes and pies and other foods. The parameters estimated were: mean share of added sugar in total energy and, for food sources, the share of added sugar in total sugar intake and the impact of variations in sources of added sugar between 2008 and 2017. There was a regular share of energy from added sugar to total energy intake between 2002 and 2008 but a reduced share in 2017. Between 2008 and 2017, there was a decrease in the share of refined sugar and other sweeteners and soft drinks to total sugar intake and an increased share of all other items. High-income households had a lower share of refined sugar and other energetic sweeteners, but a higher share of soft drinks, sweets, candies and chocolates. The decrease in added sugar in 2017 was mainly due to the lower share of soft drinks. In conclusion, Brazilians' total intake of added sugar was decreased, mostly owing to reduced consumption of sugar from soft drinks.

    Abstract Cemeteries can be compared to landfills, as the leachate produced in these areas, also known as necroleachate, can be environmentally transported, polluting groundwater, surface water, and soil. In Brazil, to ensure no negative environmental impacts and public health risks, cemetery management is the responsibility of states and municipalities. In this context, this article aims to discuss Brazilian sanitary-environmental legislation concerning cemetery waste management. Only half of all Brazilian states have established sanitary-environmental cemetery legislation, and only 19 municipalities have specific laws. These laws, however, are broad and contain many gaps. Necroleachate care and control require both sanitary and environmental assessments to avoid environmental vulnerability and contamination risks for populations inhabiting surrounding areas. In this regard, new water analysis parameters in environmentally vulnerable areas should be established to control the population's drinking water quality, such as the detection of

    Abstract Background: Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have been widely applied in research and industrial fields, finding applications in nanomedicine, drug delivery, biomedical devices, electronics, the energy sector, and environmental protection. Patents provide information on the industrial viability of product technologies, and the number of patent documents provides an estimate of the evolution of a specific technological field.
    Aims: The present work aims to describe the current trends in AgNPs patent applications. In addition, a retrospective study of published patents in Brazil is presented.
    Methods: Analyses of AgNPs-related patents were conducted using the free platform for patent search Lens® in 2010-2019 and articles published in same period using the Scholar® base. The patent applications and their evolution over time, major depositors and holders, and the main technological areas associated with AgNP applications have been described.
    Results: China and United States are the major patent applicants for nanotechnologies. The worldwide distribution of publications of journal articles shows that China, India, and the United States are the leading countries in the total number of articles published, in that order.
    Conclusion: Our study of patent applications and published articles confirmed the growing global increase in new technologies involving NPs and AgNPs, particularly in the biotechnology area, in the fields of medicine and agriculture.

    Abstract The present study aimed to determine the allometric scaling among a selection of morphological traits in European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) to estimate fish body weight. A set of morphological traits (fish body weight, length, height, and width) were directly measured in 146 fish of a recirculating aquaculture system, with body weights ranging from 17.11 to 652.21 g. In addition, a collection of digital imagery of each anesthetized fish from the side and top views were used to estimate other traits (indirect measures). Multiple regression analysis and regression coefficients were calculated using all possible combinations of biometric data (predictors) to estimate fish body weight, applying different numerical fitting models (linear, log‐linear, quadratic, exponential). The results showed that the best combination of traits for estimating fish body weight were fish body width, length and height, collected from direct measure (R² = 0.995), for a log‐linear model fitting, which revealed more accurate determinations than the most commonly used length–weight relationship. Nevertheless, other combinations of morphological traits and fitting models were also found to be suitable in successfully predict fish body weight, with variability ranging between 92.5% and 98.5%. For indirect measures, the best predictor was a combination of traits from top view (width, eye distance and area without fins) fitted with a log‐linear function. These results comprise a relevant baseline in supporting the high potential of noninvasive methods to accurately follow the growth of European sea bass juveniles, recurring to imagery analysis of anesthetized fish. It has major potential applications in feeding consumption trials and fish growth models, as it allows for continuously following up fish growth under different experimental conditions without therein distress derived from manipulation.

    Abstract The aim of this article is to review the research conducted in the field of aqueous and polymer composites cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) gels. The experimental techniques employed to characterize the rheological behavior of these materials will be summarized, and the main advantages of using CNC gels will also be addressed in this review. In addition, research devoted to the use of numerical simulation methodologies to describe the production of CNC-based materials, e.g., in 3D printing, is also discussed. Finally, this paper also discusses the application of CNC gels along with additives such as cross-linking agents, which can represent an enormous opportunity to develop improved materials for manufacturing processes.

    Abstract Purpose: Performance assessments are essential to tracking and improving quality in health care systems. Key aspects of the care process that act as indicators must be measured in order to gain an in-depth understanding of a care unit's operation. Without standardized quality indicators (QIs), it is difficult to characterize and compare the abilities of institutions to achieve excellence. The aim of this study is to reach a consensus among glaucoma specialists concerning the development of a set of QIs to assess the performance of glaucoma care units.
    Methods: A two-round Delphi technique was performed among glaucoma specialists in Portugal, using a 7-point Likert scale. Fifty-three initial statements (comprising process, structure, and outcome indicators) were evaluated and participants had to agree on which ones would be part of the final set of QIs.
    Results: By the end of both rounds, 28 glaucoma specialists reached consensus on 30/53 (57%) statements, including 19 (63%) process indicators (mainly relating to the proper implementation of complementary exams and the setting of follow-up intervals), 6 (20%) structure indicators, and 5 (17%) outcome indicators. Of the indicators that were part of the final list, functional and structural aspects of glaucoma progression and the availability of surgical/laser procedures were the most prevalent.
    Conclusions: A set of 30 QIs for measuring the performance of glaucoma units was developed using a consensus methodology involving experts in the field. Their use as measurement standards would provide important information about unit operations and allow further implementation of quality improvements.

    Abstract Objective: To analyse the purchase of food for school feeding, according to the extent and purpose of industrial processing and variety, exploring the feasibility of achieving the requirements and recommendations of the Brazilian School Feeding Programme, and the variety of unprocessed or minimally processed foods according to the purchase of ultra-processed foods.
    Design: Secondary data from 2016 from the Accountability Management System of the National Fund for Educational Development, concerning the food items purchased, were used to explore the feasibility of the requirements and recommendations. The foods were grouped according to the NOVA classification system. Variety was assessed by counting different types of unprocessed or minimally processed foods.
    Setting: Brazil.
    Participants: 3698 Brazilian municipalities.
    Results: Energy share from unprocessed or minimally processed foods was 44·1 % while that of ultra-processed foods was 29·9 %. The average of unprocessed or minimally processed food types purchased annually was 33·8 items. Of the municipalities, 35·8 % were within the limit established for the expenditure of funds for the purchase of processed and ultra-processed foods, while 8·7 % followed the recommendation for variety. The proportion of ultra-processed foods did not influence the variety of food items purchased.
    Conclusions: The results showed the feasibility of achieving the requirements and recommendations and underscored the importance of continued efforts to promote the inclusion of unprocessed or minimally processed foods in the school feeding programme while addressing the challenges associated with expenditure limits of processed and ultra-processed foods and enhancing variety, which is strategic to promote adequate and healthy meals.

    Abstract Irish dance is growing in popularity, evolving to a more athletic and demanding dance style. The aim of this study is to conduct a systematic review, previously registered with PROSPERO, to identify the prevalence, incidence, and the injury pattern among Irish dancers and analyse the associated risk factors. Six online databases and two dance-specific science publications were searched systematically. Studies were included if the patterns of injuries among Irish dancers were evaluated or the factors associated with injury were analysed, published in English or Portuguese, in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Four reviewers assessed the quality and level of evidence using the Downs and Black criteria and a modified Oxford Centre of Evidence-Based Medicine 2009 model, respectively. Eleven articles were included, eight of Level 3c (cross-sectional) and three of Level 3b (prospective). Mean DB percentage score was 63% ± 7.2%. Prevalence ranged from 72.2% to 92.6%, affecting mostly the foot/ankle complex. Only two articles reported incidence, which ranged from 3.4 to 10.6 injuries/1000 h danced depending on injury definition. Psychological factors, elite level, and insufficient/poor sleep were associated with musculoskeletal injury. Injury prevalence and incidence is high in Irish dancers, with the foot and ankle being more affected. Due to heterogeneity in injury definitions, methods, and populations, along with the need for improvement in studies quality, recommendations were made for future research.
