Abstract Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of regulatory non-coding RNAs characterized by the presence of covalently closed ends. A growing body of evidence suggests that circRNAs play important roles in physiology and pathology. In particular, accumulating data on circRNA functions in various central nervous system (CNS) diseases and their correlations indicate that circRNAs are critical contributors to the onset and development of brain disorders. In this review, we focus on the regulatory and functional roles of circRNAs in CNS diseases, highlighting their diagnostic and therapeutic potential, with the aim of providing new insights into CNS diseases.

Abstract The study of classical prescriptions should probe into not only the history but also the formation methodology. As a representative of the logic thoughts in ancient China, the class concept has gone through long history, with the theoretical system completed by Biemo in the late Warring States period. The Mohist school, proposing the class concept, plays an important role in the history of Chinese logic and world logic, and its theory has also been inherited and developed by scholars of the same era and later generations. The study of the class concept will contribute to the integration of scientific methodologies between the east and the west. Exploring the impact of the class concept on traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), especially the application in classical prescriptions, may be a path worth exploring for further studying the thought of the Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases(Shang Han Za Bing Lun).

Abstract A series of siloxane-containing phosphine (oxide) ligands have been designed and synthesized. These phosphine (oxide) ligands contain silicon atoms, which can impart better solubility in the relevant media, thereby improving certain catalytic performances. The hydrosilylation of olefins catalyzed by these metal phosphine (oxide) complexes has been conducted under mild reaction conditions.

Abstract Despite significant progress in lung cancer treatment, this disease remains a prevalent and serious global malignancy, leading to high rates of illness and death. Urgent research is needed to discover new or alternative therapies that can improve clinical outcomes for lung cancer patients. In our study, we successfully demonstrated the effectiveness of Palbociclib, a CDK4/6 inhibitor, in suppressing the growth of lung cancer cells. The IC

Abstract Aging is the most important known risk factor for dry eye is aging, which is associated with changes in the structure and function of the lacrimal gland (LG) and characterized by atrophy, duct blocking lymphocyte infiltration, and reduced protein secretion. Aquaporins (AQP) have been proposed as a potential producer of exocrine gland fluids since exocrine secretion depends on the mobility of water. Therefore, the main topics of this review will be the expression, localization, and function of AQPs in LG. In addition, we review the mechanisms of fluid transport in exocrine gland fluid secretion and discuss the potential role of AQPs in dry eye.

Abstract In multiple sclerosis (MS), the bone marrow hematopoietic system supplies immune cells to orchestrate central nervous system (CNS) inflammation and autoimmunity. Understanding the metabolic processes within the bone marrow is essential for unraveling the phenotype and function of immune cells. However, a comprehensive exploration of the metabolic landscape and its association with systemic immune response in MS at the single-cell level has yet to be elucidated. Herein, we conducted an analysis of 70 289 bone marrow cells obtained from seven patients with MS and seven health controls (referenced as HRA001783) to address this question. Our focus was primarily on investigating the metabolic preferences of diverse immune cell populations and delineating their metabolic manifestations in the bone marrow microenvironment of MS. Through our analysis, we observed the activation of carbohydrate and amino acid metabolic pathways in the bone marrow cells of MS patients. Notably, we discovered significant metabolic alterations in cell-cell communication within the plasma cell population in the MS bone marrow. These findings shed light on the complex metabolic landscape within the bone marrow niche during MS and highlight the distinctive metabolic characteristics of plasma cells in this context, which may provoke novel understanding of MS pathogenesis and promote future design of immune therapies.

Abstract Transition metal sulfides (TMSs) have drawn promising attention due to their low cost and high theoretical capacity for sodium storage. However, the critical issues of TMSs with huge volume changes and lower ionic/electronic conductivity are the major challenges for their practical application in sodium-ion batteries. Herein, we constructed cobalt-doped ZnS encapsulated in an N-doped carbon shell (denoted as Co-ZnS@NC), which effectively alleviates the volume expansion and improves sodium storage performance. The mechanism analysis and ion diffusion kinetics analysis (GITT, EIS, and CV) prove the acceleration of Na

Abstract The accumulation of heavy metals in agricultural soils concerns food security. By using the Geographical Detector, this study investigated the influence of six types of factors (eleven factors) on the accumulation of Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn in agricultural soil and products of the North China Plain and confirmed the dominant factor. The results showed that heavy metals had accumulated in regional agricultural soils and the accumulation of Cd was severe. The accumulation of heavy metals was significantly influenced by policy factors (the management and reduction in usage of fertilizers and pesticides), fertilization factors (application of organic and chemical fertilizers), pesticide factors (application of herbicide and insecticide) and atmospheric deposition factors (heavy metal concentration in atmospheric deposition). The policy factor dominated the other three types of factors. Atmospheric deposition and the excess application of fertilizers and pesticides directly lead to the accumulation of heavy metals. Due to the high concentrations of heavy metals and abundant application amounts, organic fertilizers have contributed high levels of heavy metals to agricultural soils. This study suggests that formulated fertilization and action plans for pesticide reduction could effectively decrease the accumulation of heavy metals in agricultural soils and products in the study area.
