Abstract Due to the increase of the human world population, modern-day research is looking for new methods of protein exploitation. Therefore the authors conducted a joint research project with the goal to automate the breeding of Tenebrio molitor as a novel protein source. An important task is to monitor the size of larvae in order to control the rearing process. In this work, a suitable algorithm is presented to measure the size distribution of the population. It is a combination of classical image processing functions and a neural net to enhance the dataset for a more reliable result. The output can be used to determine the most efficient time for harvesting. First, a grayscale picture of the insects in one box is taken and binarised by a threshold algorithm. The connected objects in this image are separated by an irregular watershed algorithm that delivers separate segments of larvae. Not all single segments can be used for measuring the size distribution; therefore, an artificial neural network is used for a classification. In the end, the algorithm separates the segments given by the watershed and categorises them into four categories: good segments, medium segments, bad segments, and artefacts. The good segments have a recall rate of 91.4%. In the end, the identified segments can be used to establish a method for determining the size distribution and, thus, to document the growth of the larvae.

Title translation Between cosmetic surgery and paradigm shift? - An attempt to appraise the amendments to Section 64 of the German Criminal Code and further reform approaches

Abstract Background: Failed Latarjet procedures pose a surgical challenge due to complex anatomical issues. This systematic review investigates salvage techniques for recurrent instability following a Latarjet procedure.
Methods: A search was conducted on MEDLINE and PubMed Central following the methodology registered to International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews. Inclusion criteria focused on identifying revision procedures following a Latarjet procedure. Exclusion criteria filtered out irrelevant studies, such as those focused on Bankart procedures. After a multistage selection process, 10 eligible studies were included for data extraction.
Results: The most frequently utilized technique for salvage was variations of the Eden-Hybinette procedure. Complications associated with these salvage procedures include graft-related problems and donor site morbidity. Patients reported significant improvements in multiple patient-reported outcome scores, and multiple studies indicated high rates of return to sports activities. However, it is noteworthy that there remains an average recurrence rate of 7%.
Discussion: The review emphasizes the limited therapeutic options available largely due to shoulder anatomy alterations. Despite promising trends in patient-reported outcomes, recurrence remains possible post-salvage surgeries.
Conclusion: Addressing recurrent instability after a Latarjet procedure continues to be a unique surgical challenge. However, this systematic review highlights encouraging indications, with positive trends evident in patient-reported outcomes.

Abstract Scientists and conservationists suggest species knowledge as a possible starting point when it comes to creating deeper knowledge and awareness of nature, the environment, and biodiversity. The aim of this work was to analyze secondary school students' species knowledge of vertebrates and invertebrates. This is one of the first studies that also draws on invertebrates. Furthermore, we investigated whether knowledge of species forms a basis for the formation of environmental knowledge and attitude towards the environment. For this purpose, a questionnaire on species knowledge was developed. In addition, a questionnaire was used to measure environmental system knowledge, and the 2-MEV Attitude Scale to measure attitude towards the environment. The questionnaires were completed by 103 seventh and eighth-grade (age: 12-13) students of a secondary German school (Gymnasium, highest stratification level). The students identified more vertebrates than invertebrates (50.15% vs. 36.7%). The structural equation model with the latent variables species knowledge, environmental system knowledge, and attitude towards the environment showed that species knowledge has a highly significant influence on the two other latent variables. More precisely species knowledge explained 28% of the variance in environmental systems knowledge and 17% of the variance in attitude towards the environment. This study can therefore draw attention to the relevance of teaching species knowledge in the sense of Education for Sustainable Development, in order not to promote decreasing biodiversity through dwindling species knowledge.

Abstract We review the EU's trade policy trajectory up to now, situating it within the international context. We then examine new challenges, particularly concerning the resilience of international supply chains and the geopolitical implications of economic interdependencies. Almost 80 percent of all EU imports take place under the most favored nation (MFN) tariff regime. This number illustrates the central importance of the WTO and the multilateral trading system for the EU's external trade. The EU is one of the world leaders in terms of the number of trade agreements: according to the WTO, the EU has 45 trade agreements with 77 countries, which (excluding the EU) account for over 21 per-cent of the world's GDP. However, recent negotiation and ratification processes have often proved lengthy. The event of Brexit and the resulting increase in bureaucratic hurdles illustrate that the extent of economic integration among EU member states is neither self-evident nor irreversible. Instead of aiming for a Europeanization of supply chains and an increase in protectionism, the goal of European trade policy should be the systematic identification and management of critical dependen-cies. The diversification of trade relations is essential in this context
