Abstract Background and purpose: Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that enhance and balance signals between cells and target cells in the body. They are vital to the body's ability to function. Epinephrine is one of the most essential catecholamine neurotransmitters with an important biological and pharmacological role in the mammalian central nervous system. Therefore, it is very important to develop sensitive, simple, and fast methods for the determination of this compound.
Experimental approach: In the present work, a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with the cerium oxide-zinc oxide (CeO
    Key results: The resulting CeO
Conclusion: The good and acceptable analytical performance of the developed sensor can provide a promising tool for the analysis of epinephrine in real samples.

Abstract D-penicillamine (D-PA) is a sulfur-containing drug that has been used for various health conditions. However, like any medication, overdosing on D-PA can have adverse effects and may require additional treatment. Therefore, developing simple and sensitive methods for sensing D-PA can play a crucial role in improving its efficacy and reducing its side effects. Sensing technologies, such as electrochemical sensors, can enable accurate and real-time measurement of D-PA concentrations. In this work, we developed a novel electrochemical sensor for detecting D-PA by modifying a carbon paste electrode (CPE) with a multi-walled carbon nanotube-Co

Abstract The sunset yellow, as a synthetic food coloring azo dye, was detected in the present work using a new sensitive and selective sensor based on the modification of screen-printed electrode surface with Copper ferrite nanoparticles (CuFe₂O₄/SPE). Thus, a facile hydrothermal protocol was performed to prepare the CuFe₂O₄ nanoparticles, followed by characterization applying valid techniques, including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Chronoamperometry, differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were employed to determine the electrochemical behavior of as-fabricated sensor. According to the electrochemical findings, a greater anodic peak current was found for the sunset yellow oxidation on the CuFe₂O₄/SPE than that on the unmodified SPE. The electrocatalytic response for the sunset yellow oxidation on the CuFe₂O₄/SPE in phosphate buffer (0.1 M, pH = 7.0) was effective, with an excellent sensitivity (0.1919 μA μM⁻¹). There was a linear relationship between the voltammetric current and different sunset yellow concentrations (0.03–100.0 μM). The calculated limit of detection (LOD = 3Sb/m) for the sunset yellow was 0.009 μM.

Abstract The current effort benefited from a simple hydrothermal production protocol to fabricate a nanocomposite using graphene oxide nanosheets anchored with manganese dioxide nanorods (MnO₂ NRs-GO) that was applied to construct a sensitive electrochemical catechol sensing system. As-produced nanocomposite was characterized by Field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transformed-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), which was then drop-casted on glassy carbon electrode (MnO₂ NRs-GO/GCE) for sensor application. The MnO₂ NRs-GO/GCE showed remarkable electrocatalytic capacity for the redox reaction of catechol, with minimized redox overpotentials and boosted voltammetric peak currents. As-fabricated sensor displayed an admirable electrocatalytic behavior to catechol, with a narrow limit of detection (0.02 µΜ), a broad linear range (0.5–400.0 µM) and an impressive sensitivity (0.0503 µA/µΜ). The MnO₂ NRs-GO/GCE was also successful in sensing catechol in real specimens, with appreciable recovery rates.

Abstract: A sensitive electrochemical sensor was fabricated based on Fe₃O₄/ZIF-4 nanoparticles (NPs) modified screen printed graphite electrode (Fe₃O₄/ZIF-4/SPGE) for detection of bisphenol A. Characterization of Fe₃O₄/ZIF-4 NPs was performed by EDX, MAP, XRD, FT- ... ...

Abstract A sensitive electrochemical sensor was fabricated based on Fe₃O₄/ZIF-4 nanoparticles (NPs) modified screen printed graphite electrode (Fe₃O₄/ZIF-4/SPGE) for detection of bisphenol A. Characterization of Fe₃O₄/ZIF-4 NPs was performed by EDX, MAP, XRD, FT-IR, FESEM, TEM and TGA. The performance of the designed electrochemical sensor was tested by voltammetric techniques. Fe₃O₄/ZIF-4/SPGE exhibited very acceptable electrocatalytic activities for oxidizing bisphenol A via considerable increase of the peak currents and changes in the peak potentials towards less positive potentials. Fe₃O₄/ZIF-4/SPGE demonstrated excellent sensing performance with the wider linear ranges (0.06–300.0 µM), lower limit of detection (LOD) (0.015 ± 0.001µM), and high sensitivity (0.1274 µA µM⁻¹). The practical applicability has been demonstrated through the detection of bisphenol A in different real samples.
