Abstract Cloud computing deals with voluminous heterogeneous data, and there is a need to effectively distribute the load across clusters of nodes to achieve optimal performance in terms of resource usage, throughput, response time, reliability, fault tolerance, and so on. The swarm intelligence methodologies use artificial intelligence to solve computationally challenging problems like load balancing, scheduling, and resource allocation at finite time intervals. In literature, sufficient works are being carried out to address load balancing problem in the cloud using traditional swarm intelligence techniques like ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization, cuckoo search, bat optimization, and so on. But the traditional swarm intelligence techniques have issues with respect to convergence rate, arriving at the global optimum solution, complexity in implementation and scalability, which limits the applicability of such techniques in cloud domain. In this paper, we look into performance modeling aspects of some of the recent competitive swarm artificial intelligence based techniques like the whale, spider, dragonfly, and raven which are used for load balancing in the cloud. The results and analysis are presented over performance metrics such as total execution time, response time, resource utilization rate, and throughput achieved, and it is found that the performance of the raven roosting algorithm is high compared to other techniques.

Abstract Background: Long-term outcomes of acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) have been reported. However, the immediate- and short-term outcomes have not been reported adequately.
Objectives: Primary objective was to determine the patient characteristics, and immediate- and short-term outcomes of intermediate-risk PTE, and the secondary objective was to evaluate the benefit of thrombolysis in normotensive PTE patients.
Material and methods: This study included patients diagnosed with acute intermediate PTE. Patient's electrocardiography (ECG) parameters along with echocardiography (echo), etc., conducted at the time of admission, during their stay in hospital, at the time of discharge, and during follow-up were recorded. The patients were treated using thrombolysis or anticoagulants depending on hemodynamic decompensation. During follow-up, they were reassessed for echo parameters-right ventricular (RV) function and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
Results: Among 55 patients, 29 (52.73%) were diagnosed with intermediate high-risk PTE and 26 (47.27%) with intermediate low-risk PTE. They were normotensive and most of them had a simplified pulmonary embolism severity index (sPESI) score <2. Typical ECG pattern S1Q3T3 along with echo patterns and elevated cardiac troponin levels were observed in most of the patients. Patients treated with thrombolytic agents showed a reduction in hemodynamic decompensation as opposed to patients treated with anticoagulants who had clinical signs of right heart failure (RHF) on follow-up after 3 months.
Conclusion: This study contributes to the existing literature on outcomes of intermediate-risk PTE and the effect of thrombolysis on patients with hemodynamic stability. Thrombolysis reduced the incidence and progression of RHF in patients with hemodynamic instability.

Abstract: ... management of cardiac injury.: How to cite this article: Kaliyaperumal D, Bhargavi K, Ramaraju K, Nair KS ...

Abstract Background: Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection is a multisystem disease not restricted to the lungs. It has a negative impact on the cardiovascular system by causing myocardial damage, vascular inflammation, plaque instability, and myocardial infarction. The presence of myocardial injury is a poor prognostic sign. Electrocardiogram (ECG), a simple bedside diagnostic test with high prognostic value, can be employed to assess early cardiovascular involvement in such patients. Various abnormalities in ECG like ST-T changes, arrhythmia, and conduction defects have been reported in COVID-19. We aimed to find out the ECG abnormalities of COVID-19 patients.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional, hospital-based descriptive study among 315 COVID-19 in-patients who underwent ECG recording on admission. Patients' clinical profiles were noted from their records, and the ECG abnormalities were studied.
Results: Among the abnormal ECGs 255 (81%), rhythm abnormalities were seen in 9 patients (2.9%), rate abnormalities in 115 patients (36.5%), and prolonged PR interval in 2.9%. Short QRS complex was seen in 8.3%. QT interval was prolonged in 8.3% of the patients. Significant changes in the ST and T segments (42.9%) were observed. In logistic regression analysis, ischemic changes in ECG were associated with systemic hypertension and respiratory failure.
Conclusion: In our study, COVID-19 patients had ischemic changes, rate, rhythm abnormalities, and conduction defects in their ECG. With this ongoing pandemic of COVID-19 and limited health resources, ECG-a simple bedside noninvasive tool is highly beneficial and helps in the early diagnosis and management of cardiac injury.

Abstract SQL (Structured Query Language) was one of the standardized query languages for requesting information from a database. Over the pastfew years organizations are using SQL for storing and managing the organization specific information. At the same time there is an emerging trend towards XML (Extensible Markup Language), and it has become a standard for information exchange over the internet. Users/Developers are supposed to use two different kinds of languages for data reception and manipulation. This problem is overcome by converting the user’s SQL queries into XML. In this paper, we have developed a converter tool to convert SQL join (Left, Right, and Full) queries into XML. As a result users can access XML database through SQL queries only.

Abstract The theory of phonon-drag thermopower S(g) is developed in a monolayer MoS(2), considering the electron–acoustic phonon interaction via deformation potential (DP) and piezoelectric (PE) coupling, as a function of temperature T and electron concentration n(s). DP coupling of TA (LA) phonons is taken to be unscreened (screened) and PE coupling of LA and TA phonons is taken to be screened. S(g) due to DP coupling of TA phonons is found to be dominant over all other mechanisms and in the Bloch–Grüneisen regime it gives power law S(g) ~ T3. All other mechanisms give S(g) ~ T(5). These power laws are characteristic of two-dimensional (2D) phonons with linear dispersion. Screening enhances the exponent of T by 2 and strongly suppresses S(g) due to the large effective mass of the electrons. We find that S(g), due to screened DP and PE couplings is nearly the same in contrast to the results in GaAs heterojunctions. Also, we predict that S(g) ~ n(s)(-3/2), a characteristic of 2D electrons with parabolic relation. With the increasing (decreasing) T(n(s)) its exponent decreases. For comparison, we give diffusion thermopower S(d). At very low T and high n(s), S(d) ~ T and n(2)(-1). S(d) is found to be greater than S(g) for about T < 2–3 K. The results are compared with those in conventional 2D electron gas and graphene.
