Abstract The aim of this study was to describe a technique of fabrication of two implant-supported mandibular overdentures. There are several treatment modalities for completely edentulous patients including conventional complete dentures (CDs), implant-supported overdentures (IODs), and implant-supported fixed prosthesis. Patients with a severely resorbed mandible often experience problems with their conventional CDs. Treatment concepts involving IODs have proven to be as satisfactory as implant-supported fixed prosthesis with added advantage of ease in hygiene maintenance and less cost. This clinical report summarizes a simplified and accurate method of fabricating two implant-supported mandibular overdentures. In this case, two implants were placed in the intercanine region of mandibular ridge and conventional CD was installed. Three months later, this CD was converted into implant-supported mandibular overdenture. Conventional CDs have shown less satisfaction rates by patients over a period of time in terms of function. Moreover, there are researches showing increased rate of resorption with these dentures. Thus, IODs are used routinely to provide a better quality of life to edentulous patients.

Abstract The loss of a finger in any capacity as a result of trauma has a significant influence on the patient's everyday life, as well as their psychological and physical health. Multiple conventional techniques have been reported in the literature, mostly offering psychological and cosmetic benefits to such individuals. However, there is a paucity of literature for functional finger prosthesis. This case report describes rehabilitation of an amputated index finger using an innovative digital workflow, thereby making it impression-free, cast-free, accurate, less time-consuming, and above all functionally viable. Digital technology was used for designing, and fabrication of this prosthesis was done using three-dimensional (3-D) printing. When compared to traditional prostheses, this 3-D-printed prosthesis was functional, allowing the patient to conduct everyday activities and providing the patient's confidence a psychological boost.

Abstract Difficulty in eating and speaking, ill-fitting denture, and sore mouth syndrome has been life longing among the elderly using dentures. The evolution from conventional denture to implant-supported prosthesis provides these patients normal healthy life with functional and esthetic benefits. An elderly man reported to the Department of Prosthodontics and Oral Implantology of ITS Dental College, Hospital and Research Centre, Greater Noida, with the chief complaint of mobility of upper and lower teeth. After diagnosis and treatment planning, it was decided for immediate implant placement to fabricate a full-mouth implant-supported hybrid prosthesis.

Abstract Background: Restoring lost dentition using dental implant is one of the most promising treatment modality, for both complete and partially dentulous situation. In order to have more predictable outcome, the quest for coming up with a surgical protocol has been never ending. Keeping the same in mind the present study was conducted to place implant in delayed implants beds, i.e., 14 days after the osteotomy site was prepared.
Materials and methods: For the purpose of the study, ten implants measuring 4.2 mm × 10 mm were placed in ten healthy individuals with missing mandibular first molars in site prepared 14 days before actual placement of implants, i.e., delayed implant beds.
Results: The study revealed that, on evaluation of the bone levels at the time of placement of prosthetic loading revealed, a bone gain was maximum after 3 months of prosthetic loading.
Conclusion: A significant bone gain with a mean of 0.8 mm makes this technique of placing implants in delayed implant beds a more predictable technique than conventional protocol.

Abstract Complete denture can improve both function and aesthetics. Even though mastication is highly improved, one of the most common problems for new full upper acrylic denture wearers is lack of feeling sensations such as hot and cold, loss of taste and fracture in the mid palatal region. These patients require a denture that allows them to feel sensations as close to normal as possible. The present case report discusses an alternative way of designing a metal palate for maxillary complete denture that along with fulfilling the above mentioned functions, has specially designed loops incorporated in such manner and directions to improve mechanical interlocking of acrylic within the metal loops and not to interfere with teeth arrangement.

Abstract A palatal prosthesis can improve function by closing the palatal defect, preventing regurgitation, improving swallowing and speech. Although techniques have been previously described for fabrication of palatal obturator but there have not been any techniques to devise an obturator for a patient with palatal defect and that too with a quad helix orthodontic appliance overlying it. This article describes an innovative method of fabricating a palatal obturator which aims at restoring the above mentioned functions along with improving esthetics and making it cleansable, thus improving patient psychology and confidence and be a boon for them.

Abstract Retained primary teeth is a well-known process but multiple retained primary, permanent, and supernumerary teeth that too in an asymptomatic, non-syndromic patient is a rare possibility that has rarely been reported in literature. This case report discusses the clinical and radiographic details along with treatment options in a 21-year-old patient having a total number of 50 teeth, i.e., 16 retained primary teeth, 32 permanent teeth, and 2 supernumerary teeth without being associated with any known syndrome complex or metabolic disorder.

Abstract Menopause is a normal developmental stage in a woman's life, marking the permanent cessation of menstruation resulting from irreversible changes in the hormonal and reproductive functions of the ovaries and is associated with a large number of symptoms ranging from physical to psychological. Some of the common oral manifestations are oral burning sensation with associated mucosal infections, pain, altered taste perception, and alveolar bone loss. These symptoms may unfavorably affect oral health and treatment needs requiring dentists to devise newer methods that would add along to the treatment modalities advised by gynecologists in relieving menopausal women from above symptoms. The present case report describes an innovative method of fabricating a metal base denture in an edentulous female that would help perimenopausal/menopausal/post-menopausal edentulous women feel hot/cold sensations of food/liquids, thereby giving them relief from pain, better taste perception, and relief from associated allergic and candidal infections that are common with conventional acrylic base dentures.
