Abstract The constitutive model of rock materials can describe the mechanical behavior of rocks in creep tests. Also, it is one of the important means to study the deformation and strength characteristics of rocks in complex stress environments. This paper is based on the analysis of the porosity variation characteristics of the internal structure under the coupling effect of rock hydro-mechanical properties. The concept of the hydro-mechanical properties variable is proposed, and the relationship between the coupling variable, damage and plastic deformation is established. By introducing the coupling variable, instantaneous damage variable and time-dependent damage variable into the yield surface equation, as well as the plastic potential energy equation and the stiffness matrix of the elastic–plastic creep constitutive equation, a hydro-mechanical properties creep damage coupling model was established to simulate the creep mechanical properties of rock under coupling. Based on the triaxial creep test results of granite gneiss, the model parameters are determined. By comparing the test results with numerical results, it was revealed that the model can better describe the creep mechanical properties of rocks under the coupling effect of hydromechanical properties.

Abstract "Long COVID" is a sustained symptom following infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). According to recent statistics, at least 65 million people have long COVID, which poses a long-term threat to human health. The pathogenic mechanisms of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are complex and affect multiple organs and systems. Common symptoms include palpitations, breathing difficulties, attention and memory deficits, fatigue, anxiety, and depression. It is difficult to achieve satisfactory treatment effect with a single intervention. Currently, treatment strategies for long COVID are still in the exploratory stage, and there is an urgent need to find appropriate and effective methods for long COVID treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine is effective in treating the various phases of COVID-19. Previous studies have shown that acupoint stimulation therapy is effective in improving palpitations, dyspnea, cognitive impairment, anxiety, depression, and other symptoms in patients. According to previous studies, acupoint stimulation may improve various symptoms related to long COVID. This paper discusses the potential application value of acupoint stimulation in the treatment of long COVID-related symptoms, based on the common sequelae of various systems involved in long COVID, and the effect of acupoint stimulation in the treatment of similar symptoms and diseases in recent years.

Abstract Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) poses significant therapeutic challenges despite available interventions. Escitalopram (ESC) is a highly selective antidepressant. This study aimed to compare ESC alone and ESC combined with modified electroconvulsive therapy (MECT) or high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (HF-rTMS) in TRD patients. Ninety participants were randomized into ESC alone, ESC + MECT, and ESC + HF-rTMS groups. Notable differences were observed in Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS-17) scores at 12 weeks among ESC (14.37), ESC + MECT (10.27), and ESC + HF-rTMS (10.77) groups (P = 0.006). In terms of overall quality of life (QoL) evaluated using the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) at 12 weeks, the ESC, ESC + MECT, and ESC + HF-rTMS groups scored 2, 3, and 3.5, respectively. ESC + MECT/HF-rTMS groups showed reduced depressive symptoms compared to the ESC group, accompanied by higher overall QoL scores and increased satisfaction with health. Patients receiving ESC + MECT demonstrated no significant alterations in short-term memory and orientation, as measured by the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), before and after treatment. Moreover, a decline in language was observed compared to baseline (12 weeks: median 2, IQR 2-3; baseline: median 1, IQR 1-3; P = 0.022). The positive impact of ESC with HF-rTMS on cognitive function was evidenced by improvements in all domines MoCA.Combining ESC with MECT or HF-rTMS exhibited enhanced effectiveness in alleviating depressive symptoms and enhancing QoL compared to ESC monotherapy. Specifically, the ESC + HF-rTMS combination displayed potential as a comprehensive treatment strategy for TRD, addressing both emotional and cognitive aspects.

Abstract To describe the time evolution of infected persons associated with an epidemic wave, we recently derived the KdV-SIR equation that is mathematically identical to the Kortewegde Vries (KdV) equation in the traveling wave coordinate and that represents the classical SIR model under a weakly nonlinear assumption. This study further discusses the feasibility of applying the KdV-SIR equation and its analytical solutions together with COVID-19 data in order to estimate a peak time for a maximum number of infected persons. To propose a prediction method and to verify its performance, three types of data were generated based on COVID-19 raw data, using the following procedures: (1) a curve fitting package, (2) the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method, and (3) the 28-day running mean method. Using the produced data and our derived formulas for ensemble forecasts, we determined various estimates for growth rates, providing outcomes for possible peak times. Compared to other methods, our method mainly relies on one parameter,

Abstract Abstract Background Temperature variability (TV) is associated with increased mortality risks. However, the independent impacts of interday and intraday are still unknown. Methods We proposed a new method to decompose TV into interday TV and intraday TV through algebra derivation. Intraday TV was defined as the weighted average standard deviation (SD) of minimum temperature and maximum temperature on each day. Interday TV was defined as the weighted SD of daily mean temperatures during the exposure period. We then performed an illustrative analysis using data on daily mortality and temperature in France in 2019–2021. Results The novel interday and intraday TV indices were good proxies for existing indicators, inlcluding diurnal temperature range (DTR) and temperature change between neighbouring days (TCN). In the illustrative analyses, interday and intraday TVs showed differentiated mortality risks. Mortality burden related to TV was mainly explained by the intraday component, accounting for an attributable fraction (AF) of 1.81% (95% CI: 0.64%, 2.97%) of total mortality, more than twice the AF of interday TV (0.86%, 95% CI: 0.47%, 1.24%). Conclusions This study proposed a novel method for identifying and isolating the different components of temperature variability and offered a comprehensive way to investigate their health impacts.

Abstract Objective: To investigate the active compounds, key targets and molecular mechanism of Qizhu Yuling Decoction in the treatment of esophageal carcinoma based on network pharmacology. Methods: The active compounds of Qizhu Yuling Decoction with antiesophageal cancer activity were screened by TCMSP and literature search, and the drug targets were searched by DrugBank and predicted by SwissTargetPrediction. The esophageal cancer-related genes were obtained from GeneCards, OMIM, DrugBank, TTD, DisGeNET, and the intersection network was selected to obtain candidate genes. The "herb-compoundtarget- disease" network was constructed with Cytoscape, the PPI network was constructed in STRING and core network modules were screened. Gene ontology and KEGG enrichment analysis was performed by using Metascape, and the "pathway-gene" network was constructed to further screen key targets. Results: A total of 47 active compounds (19 Astragalus, 4 Zedoary turmeric, 11 Atractylodes macrocephala, 9 Curcuma longa, 5 Clematis root, and 5 Salvia chinensis), 297 candidate genes, 2413 GO and 119 KEGG pathways were obtained. Conclusion: The active compounds of Qizhu Yuling Decoction in the treatment of esophageal cancer are quercetin, kaempferol, glycine and ursolic acid. The potential targets are AKT1, MAPK1, MAPK3, PIK3R1 and RELA. GO involves oxidative stress, cell cycle, apoptosis and cell death, and KEGG involves typical cancer pathways, MAPK, NF-κB and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways. This study reveals the molecular biological mechanism of Qizhu Yuling Decoction in the treatment of esophageal cancer, and speculates that the function of potential targets focuses on the interaction of multiple signaling pathways, which can antagonize the proliferation, invasion, metastasis and recurrence of esophageal cancer and improve the prognosis of patients. This study provides new evidence for subsequent new drug development, clinical application and experimental study.
