Abstract From the 1940s, reproductive physiology and livestock genetics transformed dairy cattle breeding and became, in conjunction with the new reproductive technology of artificial insemination, important drivers of agricultural modernization in most countries with significant dairying. While this is well known, we know less about the longer-term interplay between specifically veterinary interests in reproduction and the institutional development of cattle breeding. In the present paper, I therefore examine the veterinary disciplining of cattle reproduction-its constitution as a veterinary scientific discipline and the extension of veterinary control over it-in mid-twentieth century Sweden. I show how veterinary scientists derived legitimacy for their fledgling discipline by engaging with the problems of practical breeding, and that in doing so they also exercised influence over breeding's development. By making bulls' reproductive disturbances visible and framing them as hereditary, they undermined the conservative interests of commercial breeders. The development of veterinary reproductive science thereby played an important role in reshaping the culture, economy, and regulations of cattle breeding in Sweden as it shifted from a prewar regime dominated by elite breeders to a postwar regime that, ostensibly, served all dairy farmers in the country.

Abstract Background: Oral health care affects the quality of life and plays an essential role in the general health of vulnerable populations especially refugees. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the quality of oral health care delivery in the Gado-Badzeré refugee camp in the Eastern region of Cameroon.
Methods: We carried out a cross-sectional study between January and July 2020 using a structured questionnaire in French and translated orally to Fulfulde language.
Results: A total of 716 refugees from the Central African Republic with ages ranging from 6 to 81 years (29.3years ± 14.6 s.d), made up of 61.2% females, 378(52.8%) unemployed, 342(47.8%) married, 701(97.9%) Muslims, and 511(71.4 %) had no formal education participated. Oral health knowledge was significantly poor, 305 (42.6%) that consulted the health post for their oral health needs were not satisfied, 640(89.50%) had experienced toothache, 592(83.0%) needed restorative treatment, 709(99.0%) periodontal treatment and 215(30.0%) urgent needs like tooth extraction. There were no oral health facilities, no oral health personnel, no oral health outreach had ever been carried out in the camp, and oral pathologies were managed by nurses with medications.
Conclusion: The quality of oral health care delivery in this camp was very poor. There is an absence of oral health workforce and basic primary oral health care facilities. Oral health knowledge was very poor and the treatment needs the refugees was very high.

Abstract We report the case of a 36-year-old European female patient presenting with a sinus valsalva aneurysm of 47 mm with moderate aortic regurgitation. Additionally, an aneurysm of the brachiocephalic trunk and multiple aneurysms of the right internal mammary artery were identified. Previous medical history included Loeys-Dietz syndrome (LDS) Type RII due to a TGF-beta receptor mutation, and beta thalassemia minor with a baseline hemoglobin of 9,3 g/dL on admission.Reconstruction of the aortic root and hemiarch replacement was performed in circulatory arrest under moderate hypothermia. During surgery, hypothermia was required as part of the cerebral protection strategy. We aim to highlight special considerations and discuss the effects of cooling, rewarming and the use of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) during extensive surgery in a patient with LDS and beta thalassemia minor.
