    Abstract Air pollution causes a great disease burden worldwide. Recent evidences suggested that PM2.5 contributes to intestinal disease. The objective of present study was to investigate the influence of ambient PM2.5 on intestinal tissue and microbiome via whole-body inhalation exposure. The results showed that high levels and prolonged periods exposure to concentrated ambient PM2.5 (CAPM) could destroy the mucous layer of the colon, and significantly alter the mRNA expression of tight junction (Occludin and ZO-1) and inflammation-related (IL-6, IL-10 and IL-1β) genes in the colon, comparing with exposure to the filtered air (FA). The composition of intestinal microbiome at the phylum and genus levels also varied along with the exposure time and PM2.5 levels. At the phylum level, Bacteroidetes was greatly decreased, while Proteobacteria was increased after exposure to CAPM, comparing with exposure to FA. At the genus level, Clostridium XlVa, Akkermansia and Acetatifactor, were significantly elevated exposure to CAPM, comparing with exposure to FA. Our results also indicated that high levels and prolonged periods exposure to CAPM altered metabolic functional pathways. The correlation analysis showed that the intestinal inflammation was related to the alteration of gut microbiome induced by CAPM exposure, which may be a potential mechanism that elucidates PM2.5-induced intestinal diseases. These results extend our knowledge on the toxicology and health effects of ambient PM2.5.

    Abstract The excellent photo-response of ZnFe2O4 in the visible light region makes it a promising catalyst, whereas some defects like serious particle agglomeration and easy recombination of photo-generated electron-hole pairs hinder its application. In this work, the ZnFe2O4/sepiolite (ZF-Sep) composites were synthesized using a co-precipitation method. The obtained ZF-Sep composites were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, FT-IR, XPS, BET, VSM and DRS. Moreover, the photocatalytic performance was evaluated by the tetracycline hydrochloride removal efficiency under simulated visible light illumination. The results displayed that the ZnFe2O4 with average sizes about 20 nm were highly dispersed on sepiolite nanofibers. All the composites exhibited better photocatalytic performance than pure ZnFe2O4 due to the synergistic effect of the improvement on the agglomeration phenomenon of ZnFe2O4 and the reduction on the recombination rate of photo-generated electrons and holes. The optimum removal efficiency was that of the ZF-Sep-11 composite, which reached 93.6% within 3 h. Besides, the composite exhibited an excellent stability and reusability. Therefore, ZF-Sep composite is a promising catalyst for the treatment of wastewater contained antibiotics.

    Abstract Forest area plays a fundamental role in air and water quality and directly impacts agricultural productivity. This research aims to examine the impact of government stability and investment profiles on forest cover in countries within the ASEAN region. Specifically, the research includes Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. In the research development, we examine the role which protected natural areas play in the conservation of forests. We employ second-generation cointegration methods of cross-section dependence and slope heterogeneity. The results suggest that forest cover has been significantly reduced in this region, while government stability and the investment profile have a volatile behavior. The second-generation cointegration test results suggest there is no long-term relationship between the three series. Likewise, the short- and long-term elasticities highlight the importance of environmental protection policies to conserve forests.

    Abstract This research was aimed at investigating the artificial intelligence (AI) segmentation algorithm-based multislice spiral computed tomography (MSCT) in the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis and liver fibrosis. Besides, it was aimed at providing new methods for the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis and liver fibrosis. All patients were divided into the control group, mild liver fibrosis group, and significant liver fibrosis group. A total of 112 patients were included, with 40 cases in the mild liver fibrosis group, 48 cases in the significant liver fibrosis group, and 24 cases who underwent computed tomography (CT) examination in the control group. In the research, deconvolution algorithm of AI segmentation algorithm was adopted to process the images. The average hepatic arterial fraction (HAF) values of patients in the control group, mild liver fibrosis group, and severe liver fibrosis group were 17.59±10.03%, 18.23±5.57%, and 20.98±6.63%, respectively. The average MTT values of patients in the control group, mild liver fibrosis group, and severe liver fibrosis group were 12.69±1.78S, 12.53±2.05S, and 12.04±1.57S, respectively. The average blood flow (BF) values of patients in the control group, mild liver fibrosis group, and severe liver fibrosis group were 105.68±15.57 mL 100 g-1·min-1, 116.07±16.5 mL·100 g-1·min-1, and 110.39±16.32 mL·100 g-1·min-1, respectively. Besides, the average blood volume (BV) values of patients in the control group, mild liver fibrosis group, and significant liver fibrosis group were 15.69±4.35 mL·log-1, 16.97±2.68 mL·log-1, and 16.11±4.87 mL·100 g-1, respectively. According to statistics, the differences among the average HAF, MTT, BF, and BV values showed no statistical meaning. AI segmentation algorithm-based MSCT imaging could promote the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis and liver fibrosis effectively and offer new methods to clinical diagnosis of liver cirrhosis and liver fibrosis.

    Abstract The heavy use of antibiotics in medicine, stock farming and agriculture production has led to their gradual accumulation in environmental media, which poses a serious threat to ecological environment and human safety. As an efficient and promising catalyst for the degradation of antibiotics, nanoscale zero valent iron (nZVI) has attracted increasing attention in recent years. In this study, sepiolite nanofiber supported zero valent iron (nZVI/SEP) composite was prepared via a facile and environmentally friendly method. The nZVI particles (with size of 20–60 nm) were dispersed evenly on the surface of sepiolite nanofibers, and the catalytic performance for the removal of tetracycline hydrochloride (TC-HCl) in aqueous system was investigated. The effect of nZVI loading amount, catalyst dosage, H2O2 concentration and pH on the removal efficiency of TC-HCl were studied. It was revealed that the sepiolite supporter effectively inhibited the agglomeration of nZVI particles and increased the contact area between contaminant and the active sites, resulting in the higher catalytic performance than pure nZVI material. The TC-HCl removal efficiency of nZVI/SEP composite was up to 92.67% when TC-HCl concentration of 20 mg/L, catalyst dosage of 1.0 g/L, H2O2 concentration of 1.0 mM, pH value of 7. Therefore, the nZVI/SEP composites possess high catalytic activity for TC-HCl removal and have great application prospects in antibiotic wastewater treatment.

    Abstract Background: Nurses have been at the center of managing the COVID-19 outbreak through direct bedside care in respiratory, emergency and intensive care environments, managing hospital units, providing Covid-19 testing, vaccination and contact tracing. Thus, the present study aimed to analysis the strategies used by Iranian nurses for management of Provided Care for patients with COVID- 19.
    Methods: The present study was conducted based on the conventional content analysis method and Graneheim & Lundman approach. The participants included the nurses working in the COVID-19 wards and were recruited by purposeful sampling and based on inclusion criteria. The data were collected by conducting semi-structured, in-depth, one-to-one interviews until reaching data saturation.
    Results: In-depth interviews with 10 nurses represented four main categories and fifteen subcategories. Four main categories emerged in this study i.e. "justice in human resources management", "The art and science of comprehensive nursing care", "managers as agents of change in crisis" and "challenges and its management".
    Conclusion: The nurses' experiences of management strategies showed that paying attention to the financial, psychological, educational, equipment needs of nurses and maintaining their safety make the suitable environment for providing high quality care for patients with covid-19.

    Abstract Insulin-like growth factor 1 ( IGF1 ) is an important regulator of body growth, development, and metabolism. The poly(dA:dT) tract affects the accessibility of transcription factor binding sites to regulate transcription. Therefore, this study assessed the effects of two poly(dA:dT) tracts on the transcriptional activity of porcine IGF1 . The luciferase assay results demonstrated that the poly(dA:dT) tract 2 (−264/−255) was a positive regulatory element for IGF1 gene expression, and the activities between the different lengths of the poly(dA:dT) tract 2 were significant ( <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><mi>p</mi><mo><</mo><mn>0.01</mn></mrow></semantics></math> ). The transcription factor C/EBPα inhibited the transcription of IGF1 by binding to tract 2, and the expression levels between the lengths of tract 2 after C/EBPα binding were also statistically different ( <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><mi>p</mi><mo><</mo><mn>0.01</mn></mrow></semantics></math> ). Only the alleles 10T and 11T were found in the tract 2 in commercial pig breeds, while the 9T, 10T, and 11T alleles were found in Chinese native pig breeds. The allele frequencies were in Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium in all pig breeds. The genotypes of tract 2 were significantly associated with the growth traits (days to 115 kg and average daily gain) ( <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><mi>p</mi><mo><</mo><mn>0.05</mn></mrow></semantics></math> ) in commercial pig breeds. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the tract 2 mutation could be applied as a candidate genetic marker for growth trait selection in pig breeding programs.

    Abstract Abstract Background The increasing numbers of women in the workforce is an inevitable trend in China. More and more employed women stop breastfeeding because of working stressors. Many mothers, however, overcome the challenges and insist on breastfeeding after returning to work. Their individual experience of breastfeeding may provide a new insight to promote and support breastfeeding on employed mothers. This study sought to understand mothers’ experience with insisting on breastfeeding after returning to work based on Kumpfer’s Resilience Framework in Chinese context. Methods This qualitative study was designed with semi-structured interviews. Purposive sampling and snowball sampling were employed to recruit 13 full-time working mothers with a stable job in the public sector who continued to breastfeed for 1 month or longer after returning to work in Haikou, Hainan Province, China. Interviews were conducted from January to March 2020 to capture participants’ experiences of breastfeed after returning to work. Grounded theory and Kumpfer’s Resilience Framework were used to analyze data via a systematic and iterative process. Results Employed mothers built resilience while continuing to breastfeed after returning to work. The core concept was "dynamic interaction". Other categories were the background and explanation of this phenomenon. For working mothers who continued to breastfeed, resilience involved "dynamic interaction", which started from "experiencing stressors" and "obtaining support", two environmental factors interacted with the individual to "build resilience qualities", which interact with environment led to “behavioral resilience”. And then the ongoing dynamic interaction between behavioral resilience and environment ultimately led to three different "weaning processes", including natural weaning, active weaning, and forced weaning.     Abstract Abstract Inspired by the striated structure of skeletal muscle fibers, a polymeric actuator by assembling two symmetric triblock copolymers, namely, polystyrene‐b‐poly(acrylic acid)‐b‐polystyrene (SAS) and polystyrene‐b‐poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐polystyrene (SES) is developed. Owing to the microphase separation of the triblock copolymers and hydrogen‐bonding complexation of their middle segments, the SAS/SES assembly forms a lamellar structure with alternating vitrified S and hydrogen‐bonded A/E association layers. The SAS/SES strip can be actuated and operate in response to environmental pH. The contraction ratio and working density of the SAS/SES actuator are approximately 50% and 90 kJ m−3, respectively; these values are higher than those of skeletal muscle fibers. In addition, the SAS/SES actuator shows a “catch‐state”, that is, it can maintain force without energy consumption, which is a feature of mollusc muscle but not skeletal muscle. This study provides a biomimetic approach for the development of artificial polymeric actuators with outstanding performance.

    Abstract The concept of sustainable livelihood garnered a prominent status in humanitarian and international development organizations that aim to calculate and build a livelihood for agroforestry farmers. However, it is difficult to measure and analyze as well as visualize the data of livelihood improvement from agroforestry (AF). This paper comparatively assessed 400 smallholder farmers’ livelihood through AF and conventional farming (CF) systems in the Northern Irrigated Plain of Pakistan. The findings showed that AF has a mixed impact on farmers’ livelihood capital, including human, physical, natural, financial and social capital. Specifically, AF significantly improved financial capital in terms of timber, non-timber and fuel wood income. Furthermore, the physical capital (buffalo plough, generators and sprinklers), natural capital (the extent of cultivated land and land ownership; the number of households (HHs) growing vegetables, fruit crops and medicinal crops) and social capital (the number of social groups that HHs involved and number of HHs sharing crop seeds) of AF farmer HHs were significantly improved compared to those of CF farmers. However, the results show that financial capital gain through crop income, HHs owning high-value vehicles (tractors) and farmers trust and collective activities were significantly higher in CF farmers than AF ones. Therefore, to enhance the contribution of AF to rural livelihood, advanced extension services and government involvement on research planning and implementing are needed.
