Abstract Background: There have been no studies on the bond strength of adhesives with dentin surfaces contaminated with root canal sealers in primary teeth without underlying permanent teeth germs. This study investigated the cleaning materials used for primary tooth dentin contaminated with root canal sealers. The aim was to increase the success rate of root canal treatment in pedodontics clinics and retain the teeth for longer.
Methods: The occlusal enamel layer was removed, followed by the application of root canal sealers (AH Plus or MTA Fillapex) to the dentin and cleaning using different irrigation solutions (saline, NaOCl, and ethanol). The specimens were restored using a self-etch adhesive and composite. Sticks with a thickness of approximately 1 mm were obtained from each sample, and the bond strengths were measured using a microtensile testing device. The interfacial morphology of the bonded space was evaluated using scanning electron microscopy.
Results: The control and AH Plus saline groups had the highest bond strengths. The groups cleaned using ethanol had the lowest bond strengths (p < 0.01).
Conclusion: Cleaning the dentin with saline-soaked cotton pellets provided the best bond strengths. Therefore, saline is the most effective material for removing both epoxy resin- and calcium silicate-based root canal sealers from the access cavity.

Abstract "Penumbra sign" is a characteristic finding in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of Brodie's abscess, a rare variant of subacute osteomyelitis. We aimed to discuss the imaging finding penumbra sign that will help in the diagnosis of osteomyelitis and may be useful to clinicians in differential diagnosis. A 26-year-old male patient presented to the emergency department with complaints of pain and limping in the right knee that did not go away. He had a history of arthroscopic debridement and percutaneous fixation surgery due to osteochondral fragment 3 years ago. There were no additional findings in the patient's vital parameters, physical examination, and medical history. X-ray imaging revealed two screws in the distal femur and a well-defined sclerotic rim surrounding a radiolucent lesion anterior to the screws. MRI revealed a lesion in the distal femoral metaphysis with low-density fluid and hyperintense granulation tissue surrounding it. After surgical abscess drainage and local debridement, bone cement was placed in the resulting cavity. Teicoplanin treatment was started. The patient was discharged and complete recovery was achieved in the second month. The diagnosis of osteomyelitis is often missed or confused with bone tumors in non-traumatic cases presenting with persistent bone pain. MRI imaging is frequently used in differential diagnosis, and detection of characteristic imaging signs such as the penumbra sign accelerates the diagnosis. In this context, emergency department clinicians, in particular, should be cautious and not forget that early treatment can be started by recognizing these signs.

Abstract Aim: To investigate the level of cyberchondria in patients with high-risk human papilloma virus (HPV) positivity.
Methods: One hundred and forty women who applied to our clinic between July 2020 and September 2020 and were diagnosed with high-risk HPV positivity or abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) were included in the study. The Cyberchondria Severity Scale (CSS) was administered face-to-face to the participants. CSS and subscales scores of both groups of patients were evaluated and compared.
Results: The mean score of the patients on the CSS was 78.54 ± 22.09 and the patients with AUB and HPV(+) was 67.43 ± 19.87 and 84.16 ± 21.08, respectively. The mean subscale scores were as follows, compulsion 13.89 ± 6.49, distress 20.07 ± 7.54, excessiveness 22.40 ± 8.18, reassurance 15.07 ± 6.56, and mistrust of medical professionals 7.26 ± 3.62. The mean scores of the CSS and subscales except for the mistrust of medical professional subscale were higher in patients who were HPV-positive than in other patients.
Conclusions: Women with HPV have higher levels of cyberchondria. Medical professionals can reduce this anxiety by giving information to patients.

Abstract Background: Systemic fluoride intake is predominantly derived from drinking water and tea. It's been noted that water and tea containing fluoride, within the boundaries set by the World Health Organization, can lessen the prevalence of dental caries. A review of the literature did not uncover any study that has examined the impact of fluoride in bottled drinking water and tea on enamel of deciduous and permanent teeth. Thus, we assessed the effects of fluoride present in seven different brands of bottled water from distinct geographical regions of Turkey, and a type of tea produced and packaged in Turkey, on the enamel of deciduous and permanent teeth.
Materials and methods: Fluoride analysis was performed on drinking water sourced from seven different regions of Turkey and a brand of tea brewed with these waters. The tea was harvested and packaged in Turkey. The analysis was conducted using an ion-selective electrode. In total, 112 tooth enamel samples (56 deciduous molars and 56 permanent molars) were randomly divided into eight distinct groups. These were kept in water for 15 min and tea for 15 min every day for a month. The eighth group was treated with fluoride gel prior to tea and water applications. The amount of fluoride in the tooth enamel structure was evaluated using an SEM EDX device before and after the experiment.
Results: Statistically significant differences were found in fluoride content of enamel between water brands and tooth type (deciduous and permanent teeth). Fluoride levels were higher in the enamel of deciduous teeth than in permanent teeth.
Conclusion: Regular exposure of enamel samples to black tea and water led to an increase in fluoride levels in the enamel; thus, regular consumption of black tea and fluoride water could help reduce the prevalence of dental caries.

Abstract BACKGROUND Pediatric endodontics is a critical area of dental practice, involving the treatment of root canals in primary teeth. Treatment approaches can significantly vary due to a range of factors, potentially impacting the success of the procedure and patient comfort. This variability, often influenced by regional practices, individual dentist preferences, and the pace of dental technology advancements, warrants detailed examination to improve standardization and care outcomes. Accordingly, our study aims to scrutinize the endodontic practices of pedodontists in Turkey and compare them with contemporary literature. MATERIAL AND METHODS We conducted an online survey with 15 questions that 217 Turkish pedodontists answered. The questionnaire sought information about their preferences in canal length measurement, canal sealer, irrigation solution, and other procedural decisions. Chi-square test was used to analyze the responses, with a significance level of p<0.05. RESULTS The majority of respondents were associated with universities (123 out of 217). 103 preferred rotary file sets, and 114 used apex locators for canal length measurement. Iodoform pastes (160) and sodium hypochlorite (180) were the most popular choices for canal sealers and irrigation solution, respectively. 152 participants did not prefer using rubber dam, and 186 did not favor sonic-ultrasonic activators. Many reported using hand files as students (184), with 39 continuing this practice. Post-graduation, 64 participants took root canal treatment courses, while 72 were reluctant to perform the procedure under general anesthesia. CONCLUSIONS No single method stood out as superior for primary root canal treatments in deciduous teeth. Incorporating advanced technology into dental practice may potentially improve treatment success and patient comfort.

Abstract Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic has been shown to have major acute and chronic impacts on the skin. Various studies reported that there has been an increase in the number of patients referred to outpatient dermatology clinics with the complaint of variable hair diseases during the era of Covid-19. Hair seems to be substantially affected by both the infection itself and anxiety/stress provoked by the pandemic. Therefore, understanding the impact of Covid-19 on the clinical course of variable hair diseases has become a major concern in dermatology practice.
Objectives: To examine the frequency and types of various hair diseases, both new-onset and ingravescent, observed in healthcare providers.
Methods: A web-based questionnaire related to the hair diseases seen in healthcare providers both prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and after the start of the pandemic was created. The type of both new-onset and pre-existing hair diseases and ongoing hair diseases observed during Covid-19 were investigated.
Results: A total number of 513 participants were included in the study. One hundred seventy cases were diagnosed with Covid-19. During the Covid-19 pandemic, 228 reported having at least one hair disease; the most common one being telogen effluvium, followed by hair greying and seborrheic dermatitis. There was a statistically significant relationship between the presence of a new-onset hair disease during the pandemic and being diagnosed with Covid-19 (p=0.004).
Conclusion: Our study shows that Covid-19 infection has a significant impact on the emergence of new-onset hair diseases.

Abstract Melasma is an acquired, pigmentary disorder characterized by the appearance of brown to bluish-gray patches with well-demarcated or ill-defined borders, most commonly on the face. This challenging hyperpigmentation disorder is generally observed in women; sun exposure, pregnancy, oral contraceptive use, genetic influences and chemical agents are some etiopathogenetic factors. Even though readily diagnosed by clinical examination; dermoscopy, Wood lamp findings and histopathology may also help the clinicians to confirm the diagnosis and to disclose the features of the melasma such as melanin depth and melasma type. In our study, we aimed to investigate the dermoscopic properties of facial melasma in accordance with different skin phototypes, age, distribution patterns, presence of other facial dermatoses, etiological factors and wood lamb findings. In the present cross-sectional study, patients clinically diagnosed with facial melasma in a secondary care hospital were included. Demographical data, personal history, distribution patterns of the melasma, dermoscopic features, Wood lamp examination findings, the presence of any other facial dermatosis, possible underlying risk factors and skin phototypes were determined. One hundred fifty nine patients with a total number of 236 melasmas with variable distribution patterns were included. The mean age was 37.91 years, whereas the mean age at the onset of the melasma was 32.43 years. One hundred thirty three participants were females, whereas 26 were males. The most prevalent risk factors of melasma were exposure to UV light (62.2%), pregnancy (50.6%) and genetic predisposition (43.6%). The most common melasma localization was cheek (43.6%) followed by T zone (33.1%). The most common dermoscopic findings were brown reticular pseudonetwork (73.3%), increased vascularity and telangiectasia (51.7%) and brown clods (33.1%). Brown reticular pseudonetwork was present at a higher rate in patients with skin phototype V compared to the ones with skin phototype II (p = 0.033). Our study shows that dermoscopic findings of melasma may differ across different skin phototypes, melasma localizations, possible associated risk factors and age.

Abstract Augmented renal clearance (ARC) is a condition in which renal circulation increases, causing drug levels in the blood to remain at subtherapeutic levels in severe trauma patients. Vancomycin, a hydrophilic anti-Gram-positive drug, has been shown in the literature to have its levels fall below the therapeutic range in the case of ARC. However, vancomycin dosing recommendations in the case of ARC are still lacking. Here, we identify an ARC case measured with urinary creatinine clearance in a severe trauma paediatric patient, causing vancomycin blood trough levels to drop. We could not be able to increase the vancomycin trough levels with intermittent dosing; hence, we administered vancomycin with continuous infusion, and this resulted in vancomycin blood trough levels remaining in the therapeutic range. No adverse effect was seen. Continuous infusion of vancomycin can be safely administered to paediatric patients in these cases.

Abstract Background: Intramedullary schwannomas of brain stem and spinal cord are extremely rare. In almost all cases, homogeneous, asymmetrical or circular intensive gadolinium enhancement has been demonstrated. However, no cases reported previously with minimal contrast enhancement in cervicomedullary junction.
Case description: A 38-year old man presented with a one-month history of constant, radiative right shoulder and arm pain. There was no pathological finding in his neurological examination. Also, physical evidence or family history of neurofibromatosis was not found. Magnetic resonance imaging of brain and cervical spine showed intramedullary, solid-cystic lesion localized in the cervicomedullary junction with unobvious gadolinium enhancement. The mass was gross totally resected through a sub-occipital craniotomy via midline approach. Postoperative pathological examination confirmed diagnosis of schwannoma. No changes were detected in the neurological examination of the patient after the operation.
Conclusions: There are 3 previously reported intramedullary schwannomas of the cervicomedullary junction in the literature. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of unobvious contrast enhancing intramedullary schwannoma of the cervicomedullary junction. The possibility of schwannoma should not be excluded when a mass with slight contrast enhancement is detected in the intramedullary region of the cervicomedullary junction.
