Abstract Abstract: In Canada, leukemia is diagnosed at a rate of 15 cases per 100,000 persons and accounts for about 3% of all new primary cancers. In this study, geographical correlation between residential radon exposure and leukemia incidence was investigated at a provincial level with more accurate long-term radon measurement data in 21,330 homes and 10-y (2000-2009) age standardized incidence rates per 100,000 population for various subtypes of leukemia. The analyses showed that the incidence rate of non-Hodgkin lymphoma is statistically significantly correlated with average indoor radon (222Rn) concentration for Canadian females (p = 0.01210) but not for males. At a provincial level, the association between average indoor radon level and chronic lymphocytic leukemia incidence rate is statistically significant (p = 0.0167), and the correlation is somewhat stronger for females (p = 0.0043). No correlation was found between indoor radon exposure and any other subtypes of leukemia evaluated in this study.

Abstract In recent years, with the progress of science and technology and the development of times, it has brought great opportunities for the development and protection of Tibetan resources in our country. Many reservoirs are located in very complex fault blocks with small fault blocks and many faults, coupled with strong heterogeneous media. After years of waterflooding development, they have entered the high water cut oil recovery stage. In view of this, this paper will focus on the analysis of the water drive law in the high water cut stage of complex fault block reservoirs, and carry out specific strategy optimization for increasing production, in order to promote the exploration of the law of high water cut area in complex fault block reservoirs.

Abstract With more and more attention to people's psychological cognition and emotion in design, the concept of kansei engineering has been widely used in all kinds of product design. Based on the concepts and methods of kansei engineering, the research chooses the long chi inkstone as an example to seek a holistic explanation for the proposed architecture-oriented innovative system in obtaining a series of new design schemes. The system architecture integrates the design method of kansei engineering system into the structure-behavior coalescence (SBC) system architecture description language to show the behavior and components of product characteristics. A model of architecture-oriented kansei engineering long chi inkstone system specification was established. The model will clearly explain how the qualitative and quantitative methods are applied to determine the characteristics, process and kansei information of long chi inkstone design. The design specifications of long chi inkstone is described by the architecture-oriented kansei engineering system. The psychological kansei imagery of consumer groups are explored under the mode of qualitative analysis and quantitative research, and the design elements and details of physical properties of products are obtained. The aesthetic attributes of products are raised to a high level of respect for human nature and reflect its new value. The results indicate that the proposed architecture-oriented kansei engineering system in conjunction with a long chi inkstone design can help designers make the design more effectively than traditional design methods.

Abstract Risk factors for developing lung cancer include tobacco smoking, exposure to second-hand smoke, radon gas, asbestos and other carcinogens, as well as air pollution and aging. Canada, Norway and Sweden are three Arctic countries that are very similar in socioeconomic status, similar in the social determinants of health and many environmental factors, including current smoking rates. However, lung cancer incidence rates differ significantly among the three countries. Since tobacco smoking is the principal risk factor for developing lung cancer, and there is a long lag time between tobacco consumption and lung cancer incidence at the population average level, a comparative analysis is conducted with historical data available publicly in the three countries to demonstrate how tobacco consumption in the past impacts lung cancer incidence decades late. The analysis shows that lung cancer incidence rates increase proportionally with the increasing tobacco consumption rates with a lag time of 20-30 years. On average, one more cigarette smoked per person per day can increase lung cancer cases by 2 to 5 per 100,000 population.

Abstract Abstract: A worldwide review of radon exposure in non-uranium mines was conducted. Based on the reported radon measurements in a total of 474 underground non-uranium mines, the average radon concentration in underground non-uranium mines was calculated to be 570 Bq m -3 (varied from below detection limit to above 10,000 Bq m -3 ), and the average equilibrium factor between radon and its short-lived progeny was 0.34 (varied from 0.02 to 0.9). Using the average values from the review, annual effective radon doses to workers in Canadian non-uranium mines were estimated. For underground workers, the estimated annual effective radon dose to non-uranium miners was 3.8 mSv with the possibility of varying from 0.22 to 10 mSv depending on ventilation and other operation conditions. In Canada, the majority of mines are open-pit surface mines; only a small portion of the workforce in non-uranium mines physically work underground where radon concentration can be elevated. Averaged over the entire mining workforce, occupational exposure to radon in non-uranium mines is estimated to be 0.9 mSv. The results of this study indicate that there is potential for workers in non-uranium mines to reach or exceed Canadian thresholds for mandatory monitoring and reporting radiation doses, at least for underground operations.
