    Abstract The article first proposes a reflection on the status quo of classroom teaching in public universities, selects a large number of educational scenes, and analyzes these selected educational concepts in detail from a theoretical perspective. Through the establishment of a teaching quality monitoring system based on careful observation and analysis, several major problems in public university classrooms have been discovered: poor classroom interaction mode, single classroom interaction mode, low classroom interaction efficiency, and inefficient classroom interaction feedback. Specific manifestations include the alienation of teacher-student relationship, insufficient student coverage, lack of interaction channels, lack of interaction context, only formalized teacher-student interaction, low impact, and simplification of teacher-student interaction. Summarizing the causes of classroom interaction problems, the article summarizes three factors: teachers, students, and the macro environment. In the experiment, 85% of the students thought that the teacher-student relationship was relatively ordinary. Among the 11 students who participated in the experiment, 60% of the students were very active in interactive classroom discussions. Therefore, based on the analysis of problems and factors, the article puts forward an optimization strategy to create a classroom interaction atmosphere, improve classroom interaction mode, improve classroom interaction efficiency, and strengthen classroom interaction feedback. In particular, it promotes the integration of teacher-student relationship, emphasizes the role of students, improves the level of classroom interaction, creates conditions for classroom interaction, improves teacher-student interaction control ability, enhances student interactive speech ability, strengthens error correction and feedback, and increases multiple feedback methods.

    Abstract A survey of protein databases indicates that the majority of enzymes exist in oligomeric forms, with about half of those found in the UniProt database being homodimeric. Understanding why many enzymes are in their dimeric form is imperative. Recent developments in experimental and computational techniques have allowed for a deeper comprehension of the cooperative interactions between the subunits of dimeric enzymes. This review aims to succinctly summarize these recent advancements by providing an overview of experimental and theoretical methods, as well as an understanding of cooperativity in substrate binding and the molecular mechanisms of cooperative catalysis within homodimeric enzymes. Focus is set upon the beneficial effects of dimerization and cooperative catalysis. These advancements not only provide essential case studies and theoretical support for comprehending dimeric enzyme catalysis but also serve as a foundation for designing highly efficient catalysts, such as dimeric organic catalysts. Moreover, these developments have significant implications for drug design, as exemplified by Paxlovid, which was designed for the homodimeric main protease of SARS-CoV-2.

    Abstract Background: Hyaluronic acid (HA) injection has become a burgeoning method to treat premature ejaculation (PE) due to its high biocompatibility and structural properties.
    Purpose: In this study, we proposed a modified technique: injecting hyaluronic acid around coronal sulcus to treat PE, aiming to decrease the complications of hyaluronic acid injection in penis while achieving similar effects.
    Method: A total of 85 patients who had HA injection from January 2018 to December 2019 were analyzed retrospectively in our study. 31 patients received injection at glans penis and 54 patients received injection around coronal sulcus. Intravaginal ejaculation latency time (IELT) was mainly measured to estimate the efficacy and the severity of complications was assessed between two groups.
    Results: The mean IELT was 123.0 ± 37.28 s of all patients, 124.7 ± 39.01 s of patients injecting at glans penis and 121.9 ± 36.58 s of patients injecting around coronal sulcus. IELT of all patients increased to 482.1 ± 121.7 s at 1 month, 331.2 ± 81.2 s at 3 month and 280 ± 80.4 s at 6 month. In the group of injecting at glans penis, the incidence of complications is 25.8% and it is 1.9% in the group of injecting around coronal sulcus. No severe complication was reported in both groups.
    Conclusion: The modified technique of injecting around coronal sulcus decreases complications and it has the potential to become a new injectable technique for treating premature ejaculation.

    Abstract Escherichia coli O157:H7 can recover from sublethally injured (SI) state, which causes threat of foodborne illness. Adhesion plays a key role in the carriage of pathogens in food. In this study, we investigated the adhesion ability of SI and recovered E. coli O157:H7 wildtype and its three pili-deficient mutants (curli, type 1 fimbriae, and type IV pili) on six food-related surfaces. Plate counting was used to determine adhesion population after washing and oscillating the surfaces. Spinach exhibited the stronger adhesion population of E. coli O157:H7 than the other fresh produces (p < 0.05). In addition, at least one key pili dominated adhesion on these surfaces, and curli was always included. The adhesion population and contribution of different types of pili were jointly affected by surface and physiological state. This can be attributed to high hydrophobicity and positive charge density on surface and different expression levels of csgB, fimA, fimC and ppdD in SI and recovered cells. Among glucose, mannose, maltose, fructose, lactose, and sucrose, addition of 0.5% mannose could reduce adhesion of cells at all physiological states on stainless steel. Overall, this research will provide support for controlling adhesion of SI and recovered E. coli O157:H7.

    Abstract Working memory (WM) impairment has been well characterized in normal aging. Various studies have explored changes in either the regional activity or the interregional connectivity underlying the aging process of WM. We proposed that brain activity and connectivity would independently alter with aging and affect WM performance. WM was assessed with a classical N-back task during functional magnetic resonance imaging in a community-based sample comprising 168 elderly subjects (aged 55-86 years old). Following the rationale of background functional connectivity, we assessed age-related alterations in brain activity and seed-based interregional connectivity independently. Analyses revealed age-related decrease in positive activity of the inferior parietal lobule (IPL) and an increase in the negative activity of the ventral anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), and the local functional dysfunctions were accompanied by alterations in their connectivity to other cortical regions. Importantly, regional activity impairments in the IPL and ACC could mediate age-related effects on accuracy rate and reaction time, respectively, and those effects were further counterbalanced by enhancement of their background functional connectivity. We thus claimed that age-induced alterations in regional activity and interregional connectivity occurred independently and contributed to WM changes in aging. Our findings presented the way brain activity and functional connectivity interact in the late adulthood, thus providing a new perspective for understanding WM and cognitive aging.

    Abstract Objective: To investigate the effect of different surgical timing on the surgical treatment of renal angiomyolipoma (RAML) with rupture and hemorrhage.
    Methods: The demographic data and perioperative data of 31 patients with rupture and hemorrhage of RAML admitted to our medical center from June 2013 to February 2023 were collected. The surgery within 7 days after hemorrhage was defined as a short-term surgery group, the surgery between 7 days and 6 months after hemorrhage was defined as a medium-term surgery group, and the surgery beyond 6 months after hemorrhage was defined as a long-term surgery group. The perioperative related indicators among the three groups were compared.
    Results: This study collected 31 patients who underwent surgical treatment for RAML rupture and hemorrhage, of whom 13 were males and 18 were females, with an average age of (46.2±11.3) years. The short-term surgery group included 7 patients, the medium-term surgery group included 12 patients and the long-term surgery group included 12 patients. In terms of tumor diameter, the patients in the long-term surgery group were significantly lower than those in the recent surgery group [(6.6±2.4) cm
    Conclusion: We believe that for patients with RAML rupture and hemorrhage, reoperation for more than 6 months is a relatively safe time range, with minimal intraoperative bleeding. Therefore, it is more recommended to undergo surgical treatment after the hematoma is systematized through conservative treatment.

    Abstract Background: Understanding the pathological characteristics of various mild cognitive impairment (MCI) subtypes is crucial for the differential diagnosis of dementia. The purpose of this study was to feature divergent symptom-deficit profiles in amnestic MCI (aMCI) and non-amnestic MCI (naMCI).
    Methods: T1 and DTI MRI data from a total of 158 older adults with 50 normal controls, 56 aMCI, and 52 naMCI were included. The voxel-wise gray matter volumes and the number of seed-based white matter fiber bundles were compared among these three groups. Furthermore, correlation and mediation analyses between the neuroimaging indices and cognitive measures were performed.
    Results: The aMCI with specific memory abnormalities was characterized by volumetric atrophy of the left hippocampus but not by damage in the linked white matter fiber bundles. Conversely, naMCI was characterized by both the altered volume of the right inferior frontal gyrus and the significant damage to fiber bundles traversing the region in all three directions, not only affecting fibers around the atrophied area but also distant fibers. Mediation analyses of gray matter-white matter-cognition showed that gray matter atrophy affects the number of fiber bundles and further affects attention and executive function. Meanwhile, fiber bundle damage also affects gray matter volume, which further affects visual processing and language.
    Conclusions: The divergent structural damage patterns of the MCI subtypes and cognitive dysfunctions highlight the importance of detailed differential diagnoses in the early stages of pathological neurodegenerative diseases to deepen the understanding of dementia subtypes and inform targeted early clinical interventions.

    Abstract Based on the fluctuations ensembled over neighbouring neurons, blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) signal is a mesoscale measurement of brain signals. Intraregional temporal features (IRTFs) of BOLD signal, extracted from regional neural activities, are utilized to investigate how the brain functions in local brain areas. This literature highlights four types of IRTFs and their representative calculations including variability in the temporal domain, variability in the frequency domain, entropy, and intrinsic neural timescales, which are tightly related to cognitions. In the brain-wide spatial organization, these brain features generally organized into two spatial hierarchies, reflecting structural constraints of regional dynamics and hierarchical functional processing workflow in brain. Meanwhile, the spatial organization gives rise to the link between neuronal properties and cognitive performance. Disrupted or unbalanced spatial conditions of IRTFs emerge with suboptimal cognitive states, which improved our understanding of the aging process and/or neuropathology of brain disease. This review concludes that IRTFs are important properties of the brain functional system and IRTFs should be considered in a brain-wide manner.
