Abstract Background: With the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome knowledge accumulation and artificial intelligence (AI), this study proposes a holistic TCM syndrome differentiation model for the classification prediction of multiple TCM syndromes based on deep learning and accelerates the construction of modern foundational TCM equipment. Methods: We searched publicly available TCM guidelines and textbooks for expert knowledge and validated these sources using ten-fold cross-validation. Based on the BERT and CNN models, with the classification constraints from TCM holistic syndrome differentiation, the TCM-BERT-CNN model was constructed, which completes the end-to-end TCM holistic syndrome text classification task through symptom input and syndrome output. We assessed the performance of the model using precision, recall, and F1 scores as evaluation metrics. Results: The TCM-BERT-CNN model had a higher precision (0.926), recall (0.9238), and F1 score (0.9247) than the BERT, TextCNN, LSTM RNN, and LSTM ATTENTION models and achieved superior results in model performance and predictive classification of most TCM syndromes. Symptom feature visualization demonstrated that the TCM-BERT-CNN model can effectively identify the correlation and characteristics of symptoms in different syndromes with a strong correlation, which conforms to the diagnostic characteristics of TCM syndromes. Conclusions: The TCM-BERT-CNN model proposed in this study is in accordance with the TCM diagnostic characteristics of holistic syndrome differentiation and can effectively complete diagnostic prediction tasks for various TCM syndromes. The results of this study provide new insights into the development of deep learning models for holistic syndrome differentiation in TCM.

Abstract Abstract RuO2 is well known as the benchmark acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalyst, but its practical application has been impeded by its limited durability. Herein, it is presented that the stability of ruthenium oxide can be significantly improved by pretrapping RuCl3 precursors within a cage compound possessing 72 aromatic rings, which leads to well carbon‐coated RuOx particles (Si‐RuOx@C) after calcination. The catalyst survives in 0.5 M H2SO4 for an unprecedented period of 100 hours at 10 mA cm−2 with minimal overpotential change during OER. In contrast, RuOx prepared from similar non‐tied compounds doesn't exhibit such catalytic activity, highlighting the importance of the preorganization of Ru precursors within the cage prior to calcination. In addition, the overpotential at 10 mA cm−2 in acid solution is only 220 mV, much less than that of commercial RuO2. X‐ray absorption fine structure (FT‐EXAFS) reveals the Si doping through unusual Ru–Si bond, and density functional theory (DFT) calculation reveals the importance of the Ru‐Si bond in enhancing both the activity and stability of the catalyst.

Abstract A holey carbon material with ordered sub-nanometer hole defects was synthesized from oxidative cyclodehydrogenation of a polyhexaphenylbenzene precursor. Band gap of around 2.2 eV is formed due to the narrow connection between the hexabenzocoronene subunits. It has weak interlayer interaction energy compared with graphene and shows easy dispersion in a wide range of solvents, surprisingly including water. Density functional theory calculations confirmd the excellent dispersion of this material in water. This new carbon material was then proved as effective support for various inorganic nanoparticles of small sizes. The supported iron nanoparticles showed enzyme-like catalysis behavior in nitrophenyl reduction reaction by NaBH4, exemplifying the great potential of this new material in catalysis.

Abstract Climate warming has a remarkable effect on the distribution, phenology, and development of insects. Although the embryonic development and phenology of non-diapause grasshopper species are more susceptible to warming than those of diapause species, the responses of developmental traits in conspecifically different populations to climate warming remain unknown. Here, we compared the mtDNA sequences and embryonic development of eight populations of grasshopper species (Chorthippus dubius) in field-based manipulated warming and laboratory experiments. The mtDNA sequences showed a significant genetic differentiation of the southernmost population from the other seven populations on the Mongolian Plateau. The embryonic development of the southernmost population was significantly slower than those of the northern populations at the same incubation temperatures. Interestingly, laboratory experiments showed that a significant difference exists in the effective accumulated degree days (EADD) but not in the lower development threshold temperatures (LDTT) among the different populations. The high-latitude populations required less EADD than the low-latitude populations. The warming treatments significantly accelerated the embryonic development in the field and decreased duration from embryos to hatchlings of all eight populations in the incubation. In addition, warming treatments in field significantly increased EADD requirement per stage in the incubation. Linear regression model confirmed that the embryonic development characteristics of eight populations were correlated with the annual mean temperature and total precipitation of embryonic development duration. The results indicated that grasshopper species have evolved a strategy of adjusting their EADD but not their LDTT to adapt to temperature changes. The variations in the EADD among the different populations enabled the grasshopper eggs to buffer the influences of higher temperatures on development and preserve their univoltine nature in temperate regions while ...

Abstract Abstract The research of high efficiency water splitting catalyst is important for the development of renewable energy economy. Here, the progress in the preparation of high efficiency hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalyst is reported. The support material is based on a polyhexaphenylbenzene material with intrinsic holes, which heals into carbon materials upon heating. The healing process is found to be useful for anchoring various transition metal atoms, among which the supported Ir Single‐atom catalyst (SAC) catalyst shows much higher electrocatalytic activity and stability than the commercial Pt/C and Ir/C in HER. There is only 17 mV overpotential at 10 mA cm–2, which is significantly lower than that of commercial Pt/C and Ir/C catalysts respectively by 26 and 3 mV, and the catalyst has an ultra‐high mass activity (MA) of 51.6 AmgIr−1${ ext{ A mg}}_{{m{Ir}}}^{ - 1}$ at 70 mV potential and turn over frequencies (TOF) of 171.61 s–1 at the potential of 100 mV. The density functional theory (DFT) calculation reveals the significant role of carbon coordination around the Ir center. A series of monatomic PBN‐300‐M are synthesized by using of designed carbon materials. The findings provide an enabling and versatile platform for facile accessing SACs toward many industrial important reactions.

Abstract Clarifying the symbiotic relationship between national fitness and the sports industry has important theoretical and practical significance for the collaborative development of the two. In order to measure and verify the symbiotic relationship between national fitness and the sports industry, we introduce a “symbiosis degree” model test method for the measurement of the symbiotic relationship during 2000−2017 between the two. Our results show that national fitness and the sports industry have symbiotic sufficient and necessary conditions, for both of which there is a symbiotic relationship, and a non-symmetric reciprocal symbiotic mode long-term. Overall, the impact of national fitness on the sports industry is greater than the impact of the sports industry on national fitness. From a structural perspective, there is a certain difference in the mutual influence of national fitness and the sports industry in the field of sports goods and sports services. In a dynamic forecast, we found that national fitness and the sports industry have the development trend of a symmetric reciprocal symbiotic state. Through theoretical studies, data measured and simulated projections, we believe that the symbiosis degree of the measurement model for the detection and prediction of the symbiotic unit of the symbiotic relationship between them to be of practical value.

Abstract Ovate family proteins (OFPs) are a class of proteins with a conserved OVATE domain that contains approximately 70 amino acid residues. OFP proteins are plant-specific transcription factors that participate in regulating plant growth and development and are widely distributed in many plants. Little is known about OFPs in Brassica rapa to date. We identified 29 OFP genes in Brassica rapa and found that they were unevenly distributed on 10 chromosomes. Intron gain events may have occurred during the structural evolution of BraOFP paralogues. Syntenic analysis verified Brassica genome triplication, and whole genome duplication likely contributed to the expansion of the OFP gene family. All BraOFP genes had light responsive- and phytohormone-related cis-acting elements. Expression analysis from RNA-Seq data indicated that there were obvious changes in the expression levels of six OFP genes in the Brassica rapa hybrid, which may contribute to the formation of heterosis. Finally, we found that the paralogous genes had different expression patterns among the hybrid and its parents. These results provide the theoretical basis for the further analysis of the biological functions of OFP genes across the Brassica species.

Abstract The traditional medical image fusion methods, such as the famous multi-scale decomposition-based methods, usually suffer from the bad sparse representations of the salient features and the low ability of the fusion rules to transfer the captured feature information. In order to deal with this problem, a medical image fusion method based on the scale invariant feature transformation (SIFT) descriptor and the deep convolutional neural network (CNN) in the shift-invariant shearlet transform (SIST) domain is proposed. Firstly, the images to be fused are decomposed into the high-pass and the low-pass coefficients. Then, the fusion of the high-pass components is implemented under the rule based on the pre-trained CNN model, which mainly consists of four steps: feature detection, initial segmentation, consistency verification, and the final fusion; the fusion of the low-pass subbands is based on the matching degree computed by the SIFT descriptor to capture the features of the low frequency components. Finally, the fusion results are obtained by inversion of the SIST. Taking the typical standard deviation, QAB/F, entropy, and mutual information as the objective measurements, the experimental results demonstrate that the detailed information without artifacts and distortions can be well preserved by the proposed method, and better quantitative performance can be also obtained.

Abstract BackgroundFunctional constipation (FC) is a common bowel disorder that prevails worldwide. In China, although a heterogeneous prevalence of constipation is expected, it is currently not demonstrated. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the prevalence and related risk factors of FC in the Chinese population, according to the Rome criteria.MethodsWe searched the PubMed, the Embase, the Cochrane Library, the Web of Science, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the Wanfang data knowledge service platform, the VIP information resource integration service platform, and the Chinese Biomedical Literature Service System (SinoMed) databases from the inception of database to July 2021. Population-based cross-section studies that enrolled adults with FC, diagnosed by the Rome criteria, were deemed eligible. We summarized the overall prevalence and detected the subgroup effect per the Rome I, Rome II, Rome III, and Rome IV criteria. We used the generalized linear mixed model (GLMM) with a random-effect intercept to pool the prevalence and performed pairwise meta-analyses for prevalence comparisons by risk factors.ResultsWe identified 3,213 records through our database search, and 39 studies from China, comprising 1,240,79 participants, met the eligibility criteria for our study. The pooled overall prevalence of FC using the Rome criteria was 8.5% in China. Heterogeneous prevalence was detected within the Rome criteria (Rome II: 10.6%, 95% CI: 7.2–15.4; Rome III: 6.5%, 95% CI: 3.4–12.0; Rome IV: 8.1%, 95% CI: 5.6–11.8). The prevalence increased between 1991 and 2020 (from 5.5% with 95% CI: 3.6–8.2 between 1991 and 2000 to 10.9% with 95% CI: 5.5–20.4 between 2011 and 2020). Higher prevalence was found in women [odds ratio (OR) = 1.53, 95% CI: 1.31–1.78] and the elderly (≥70 years vs. ≤ 29 years: OR = 3.38, 95% CI: 2.16–5.30) than in men and the younger population. A high-fiber diet was associated with lower prevalence (OR = 0.33, 95% CI: 0.15–0.75), whereas irregular bowel habit and inactivity were associated ...
