Abstract Renal tumor remains as one of the common malignancy of the urinary system whose incidence and mortality is increasing over the years. Although the emergence of targeted drugs has greatly improved the prognosis of patients with advanced kidney cancer, the occurrence of drug resistance still brings huge treatment pressure to patients. Renal clear cell carcinoma (RCC), the most common pathological type of renal cancer, has been widely reported as a metabolic disease undergoing enormous metabolic reprogramming. This metabolic abnormality not only supports the synthesis of macromolecules such as proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids, but also promotes tumor progression. Changes in lipid metabolism, especially fatty acid metabolism, which is involved in the synthesis of biofilm components, provides energy for tumor progression, and regulates tumorigenesis. In this review, the key molecules of lipid metabolism pathway were systematically summarized, aiming to find potential therapeutic targets for RCC, and further elucidate the potential clinical application prospect of interfering with fatty acid metabolism pathway in the treatment of renal tumor.
