Abstract The number of foreign students is increasing worldwide, and they suffer from acculturation to different environments or cultures. This pilot study examined the difference in overweight or obesity, changes in dietary habits after studying abroad and sleep quality according to acculturative degree among 225 Asian foreign students in South Korea. Most subjects (61.8%) experienced a low acculturative degree. The change in dietary habits after studying abroad showed a significant difference according to the acculturative degree ( p < 0.001); however, there were no differences observed in sleep quality ( p = 0.090) and prevalence of overweight or obesity according to acculturative degree ( p = 0.101). Interestingly, a difference in the risk for being overweight or obese by sleep quality after being stratified into groups according to acculturative degree was observed. Among the groups with a low acculturative degree, subjects reporting poor sleep quality had a 2.875-fold (95% CI = 1.167–7.080) higher risk of being overweight or obese than those reporting good sleep quality. However, the risk of being overweight or obese was not different among the high acculturative group regardless of their sleep quality. The results showed that the degree of acculturation could influence the risk of being overweight or obese according to sleep quality among Asian foreign students.

Abstract The super-resolution of depth images is a research hotspot. In this study, the classical Kriging algorithm is applied to the spatial interpolation of depth images, together with the fractional-order differential method for edge recognition, to realise the super-resolution reconstruction of depth images. The resulting interpolation model improves the edge performance of Kriging interpolation by harnessing the superior characteristics of fractional-order differential edge recognition and effectively solving the edge blurring problem in super-resolution interpolation of depth images. Experimental results show that, compared with the classical algorithms, the super-resolution reconstruction based on Kriging interpolation is greatly improved in terms of visual effects and the peak signal-to-noise ratio of the depth image. In particular, edge recognition based on fractional-order differentiation solves the image blurring problem at the edges of the depth images. Inspection of the point clouds of the depth images shows that the output of the proposed interpolation model has obvious fractal characteristics.

Abstract This paper presents an optimization method that aims to mitigate disturbances in the radial-feed system of the ring-pendulum double-sided polisher (RDP) during processing. We built a radial-feed system model of an RDP and developed a single-tube robust model predictive control system to enhance the disturbance rejection capability of the radial-feed system. To constrain the system states inside the terminal constraint set and further enhance the system’s robustness, we added the ε-approximation to approach the single-tube terminal constraint set. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method for the RDP radial-feed system was verified through simulations and experiments. These findings demonstrate the potential of the proposed method for improving the performance of the RDP radial-feed system in practical applications. The polish processing results demonstrated a substantial improvement in the accuracy of the surface shape measurements obtained by applying the STRMPC method. Compared to the MPC method, the PV value decreased from 1.49 λ PV to 0.99 λ PV, indicating an improvement in the convergence rate of approximately 9.78%. Additionally, the RMS value decreased from 0.257 λ RMS to 0.163 λ RMS, demonstrating a remarkable 35.6% enhancement in the convergence rate.

Abstract In this work, we investigate the electronic transitions and chirality of three isomers of huge conjugated systems: asymmetric diastereomers (MMMM) and two symmetrical diastereomers (PMPM and PPMM). The physical mechanism of flipping has been studied theoretically. The new ribbon-shaped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) molecule is formed by connecting three graphene-like systems with large conjugated π orbitals. By calculating and analyzing electromagnetic interaction decomposition over distance, it can be found that the chirality reversal of different energies is caused by the symmetrical fracture of TMDM in the Z direction. The chirality reversal at the same energy is caused by the in-plane polarization of the TMDM along the Y direction.

Abstract An accurate description of the transition corridor is of great significance for the flight process of the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). To study the transition flight process of vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing UAVs, the dynamic model and transition corridor model of this type of UAV are established in the current article. The method for establishing the model is based on a reasonable match of the power and aerodynamic force of this type of UAV. From the perspective of flight dynamics, the ducted lift-increasing system’s deflection angle–speed envelope is studied with the maximum lift coefficient of the wing and the system’s available power. The influence of the overall parameters and energy parameters of the UAV on the deflection angle–speed envelope of the ducted lift-increasing system is analyzed, and a method is proposed to expand the vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing UAV’s transition corridor. Taking the UAV as the object, using the established model, the transition flight corridor of the UAV is obtained, the influence of the control parameters on the transition flight is studied, and the appropriate transition flight control strategy is determined. At the same time, the influence of the overall parameters and energy parameters on the transition corridor is calculated. According to the calculation results, the effect of expanding the flight corridor of the UAV is more obvious when increasing the available power than when increasing the aerodynamic parameters by the same proportion.

Abstract The transmitted beam of frequency diversity array (FDA) has the range–angle–time coupling property, which has essential applicative potential in angle deception and active anti-jamming. In this paper, the concept of time index within pulse is introduced. Firstly, the phase characteristics of FDA-transmitted signals based on the time index within pulse concept are studied. Then, the deceptive angle performance of FDA-transmitted signals is discussed. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the phase characteristics of the FDA signal are not related to the range, but to the time index within pulse. With the phase center as the reference point, the phase is equal as long as the time index within the pulse is the same. Angle deception and active anti-jamming can be achieved using the optimized frequency increment of each FDA.

Abstract Frequency diverse array multiple-input multiple-output (FDA-MIMO) radar has received a lot of attention due to the advantages of waveform diversity. Suppression of mainlobe deceptive jamming can be effectively achieved with the degree of freedom (DOF) in the range domain. However, the existing research mainly focuses on non-coherent signals. The echo signal of VHF-FDA-MIMO radar for low elevation has its own unique characteristics. False targets cannot be suppressed with conventional beamforming methods. Thus, a signal model for VHF-FDA-MIMO radar subjected to deceptive jamming is established. The reconstruction of the covariance matrix and the estimation of the steering vector are implemented with the generalized MUSIC algorithm. In addition, a matching Capon reconstruction method is proposed to finish the robust suppression of false targets for the problem of self-cancellation in the absence of a priori information. Finally, the beampattern and performance curves of different methods are compared. The simulation results show that the methods can be effectively applied to the suppression of deceptive jamming in VHF-FDA-MIMO radar under the multipath effect.

Abstract Vision transformers (ViT) have the characteristics of massive training data and complex model, which cannot be directly applied to polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) image classification tasks. Therefore, a mixed convolutional parallel transformer (MCPT) model based on ViT is proposed for fast PolSAR image classification. First of all, a mixed depthwise convolution tokenization is introduced. It replaces the learnable linear projection in the original ViT to obtain patch embeddings. The process of tokenization can reduce computational and parameter complexity and extract features of different receptive fields as input to the encoder. Furthermore, combining the idea of shallow networks with lower latency and easier optimization, a parallel encoder is implemented by pairing the same modules and recombining to form parallel blocks, which can decrease the network depth and computing power requirement. In addition, the original class embedding and position embedding are removed during tokenization, and a global average pooling layer is added after the encoder for category feature extraction. Finally, the experimental results on AIRSAR Flevoland and RADARSAT-2 San Francisco datasets show that the proposed method achieves a significant improvement in training and prediction speed. Meanwhile, the overall accuracy achieved was 97.9% and 96.77%, respectively.

Abstract Regional land-use change is the leading cause of ecosystem carbon stock change; it is essential to investigate the response of LUCC to carbon stock to achieve the strategic goal of “double carbon” in a region. This paper proposes a residual network algorithm, the Residual Multi-module Fusion Network (R-MFNet), to address the problems of blurred feature boundary information, low classification accuracy, and high noise, which are often encountered in traditional classification methods. The network algorithm uses an R-ASPP module to expand the receptive field of the feature map to extract sufficient and multi-scale target features; it uses the attention mechanism to assign weights to the multi-scale information of each channel and space. It can fully preserve the remote sensing image features extracted by the convolutional layer through the residual connection. Using this classification network method, the classification of three Landsat-TM/OLI images of Zhengzhou City (the capital of Henan Province) from 2001 to 2020 was realized (the years that the three images were taken are 2001, 2009, and 2020). Compared with SVM, 2D-CNN, and deep residual networks (ResNet), the overall accuracy of the test dataset is increased by 10.07%, 3.96%, and 1.33%, respectively. The classification achieved using this method is closer to the real land surface, and its accuracy is higher than that of the finished product data obtained using the traditional classification method, providing high-precision land-use classification data for the subsequent carbon storage estimation research. Based on the land-use classification data and the carbon density data corrected by meteorological data (temperature and precipitation data), the InVEST model is used to analyze the land-use change and its impact on carbon storage in the region. The results showed that, from 2001 to 2020, the carbon stock in the study area showed a downward trend, with a total decrease of 1.48 × <semantics> 10 7 </semantics> t. Over the course of this 19-year ...

Abstract With the widespread application of multi-axis machining in the industrial manufacturing, aerospace, and military equipment sectors, the demand for machining ultra-precision components has been steadily increasing. Contour errors directly impact the quality of machined parts. In conventional multi-axis motion control systems based on cross-coupling, it is conventionally assumed that all individual axes are of equal significance during machine processing. However, in practical machining scenarios, diverse machining trajectories and accuracy requirements give rise to distinct control necessities for each axis. This complication leads to challenges in ensuring a consistent single-plane contour, thereby constraining the elevation of the overall contour accuracy. To address this issue, this study proposes a multi-axis contour error suppression method based on composite hierarchical control. The approach advocated in this paper initially ensures the precision of single-axis position control through the development of an advanced S-shaped function-based sliding-mode disturbance observer. Building on this foundation, the three-dimensional spatial contour is segregated into upper and lower layers. Subsequently, dedicated fuzzy PID cross-coupling controllers are devised for each layer. The experimental outcomes substantiate that in comparison to conventional cross-coupling control methods, the method introduced in this study, rooted in composite hierarchical control, not only guarantees the accuracy of single-plane contours but also further enhances the overall contour precision.
