Abstract Zend Enterprise PHP Patterns is the guide book for the enterprise PHP developer. This book will teach the experienced PHP developer how to create and deploy their PHP applications in the Enterprise environment. PHP has become more than just a hobbyist s language. It is being used to power huge web sites like Digg, Flickr, and Friendster. Writing PHP applications, and deploying them, for a high traffic application is much different than developing for a small or occasional use web site. Zend Enterprise PHP Patterns is the only book on the market that will show a PHP developer how to properly create these high end applications.

Abstract The nice thing about the Internet is that anyone can access your web site. This can also be a drawback. PHP (and the other components of LAMP) make it very easy to produce afunctional, useful website. Of course, "easy" and "secure" are orthogonal concepts. If you care about your data or your customers' data, you need to think about security. How can you keep out the bad guys? How can you prevent and, if needed, recover from errors? How will you know if things are working correctly or if someone is snooping around in the dark corners of your site? This collection of articles from the PHP

Abstract Four skeletally immature, small breed dogs (five elbows) with elbow incongruency were evaluated for forelimb lameness. Findings on clinical examination included pain, effusion and decreased range of motion of the affected elbow. Radiography, computed tomography and arthroscopy demonstrated elbow incongruency in all dogs. Fragmented medial coronoid process was diagnosed arthroscopically in three dogs (four elbows). Arthroscopic subtotal coronoidectomy was performed in all cases of fragmented medial coronoid process. Incongruency was corrected with acute ulnar lengthening under arthroscopic visualisation. The ulna was stabilised with a plate following correction. In two elbows an ostectomy of the anconeal process was performed to prevent impingement against the olecranon fossa. All dogs demonstrated improvement in lameness scores and client-scored visual analogue scale scores. Postoperative computed tomography showed significant improvement in elbow incongruency in all dogs. Arthroscopic-guided ulnar lengthening may be considered as a valid treatment in severe cases of elbow incongruency.

Abstract There are various forms of the satiety gut-brain peptide cholecystokinin (CCK), a short, widely utilized form or CCK-8, and a long, putatively more effective form or CCK-33. The issue of which of these forms is a more effective satiety peptide is not resolved. Here, we compared the satiety responses, including the sizes of the first three meals (MS) and intermeal intervals (IMI) as well as their calculated satiety ratios (SR), evoked by both peptides. CCK-8 and 33 (1, 3 and 5 nmol/kg, i.p) reduced the size of the first meal similarly, only CCK-33 prolonged the first IMI and increased SR and both peptides failed to affect second and third MS and IMI. As such, CCK-33 is a more effective satiety peptide than CCK-8. The current results confirm previous findings which showed that both peptides reduce food intake by inhibiting meal size, whereas only CCK-33 reduces food intake by prolonging the intermeal interval.

Abstract A single infusion of Perilla ketone (PK) into sheep causes marked increases in lung fluid and solute exchange in the absence of any alteration in either pulmonary arterial or left atrial pressures. These alterations are most compatible with increased pulmonary microvascular permeability. The present paper describes the morphologic changes that accompany the previously described alterations in lung function. In five anesthetized open-chest sheep, lung biopsy tissue was taken at baseline and at 15, 30, 60, 120, and 180 minutes after the start of a single infusion of PK (15-20 mg/kg given over a 20 minute period). Biopsy tissue was taken from different lobes of the lung in random sequence, fixed, and processed for light and electron microscopic examination. Three control sheep received the vehicle, dimethyl sulfoxide, alone. Just 15 minutes after the start of PK infusion, alveolar capillary congestion, accumulation of peripheral lung neutrophils, and intraalveolar and interstitial edema were apparent. Electron microscopy revealed early evidence of damage to both the microvascular endothelial cells and Type I pneumonocytes. The damage became more severe with time. From 30 minutes, occasional nonciliated cells in the airway epithelium exhibited dilated rough and agranular endoplasmic reticulum. Thus, PK causes rapid onset of pulmonary edema accompanied by structural evidence of damage to the microvascular endothelium and Type I pneumonocytes. Pulmonary inflammation was also evident. These structural changes occur before the described alterations in either pulmonary microvascular permeability or reduction in pulmonary compliance.

Abstract This study had two objectives. The first was to determine if hypercalcemia presents as an isolated finding in patients with lung cancer prior to the development of abnormalities on chest radiography. The second was to correlate the presence of hypercalcemia with survival after surgical therapy. A review of clinical material over a seven-year period yielded 67 patients with diagnoses of hypercalcemia and lung cancer. No patient presented with surgically curable lung cancer associated with hypercalcemia. A review of the literature disclosed only four cases in which a putative cure occurred in the presence of hypercalcemia. Review of the clinical material and the literature revealed no instance in which hypercalcemia per se led to the diagnosis of clinically occult lung cancer. Hypercalcemia was almost always associated with large tumor masses. Median survival after the discovery of hypercalcemia complicating carcinoma of the lung was one month.
