Abstract Background: According to the WHO, 86% of deaths and 75% of healthcare costs in Europe are attributable to diseases, which share risk factors, including obesity, overweight and high blood pressure. Common point to these factors is their modifiability, adopting correct life habits.
Aim: It is, therefore, appropriate to investigate teenagers' eating habits, in order to familiarize them with the risks associated with incorrect diet, develop their critical thinking regarding sources of information and strengthen their life skills. The chosen approach to achieve these goals is to develop food education programs focused on Peer education.
Methods: To collect the necessary data, Focus groups have been run in November 2017, in "Da Vigo Nicoloso High School" in Rapallo (Genoa). A random selection of participants, within homogeneous groups (ages 13-14 and 17-18), has been applied.
Results: Eating choices among teenagers represent a strong element of identity. Sharing experiences produces consequences on individual and collective tastes. Awareness in young people regarding correct food choices grows with increasing age; so does sensitivity to being conditioned by interpersonal relationships and messages conveyed through the mass media.
Conclusions: It is advisable to develop education programs, specifically aimed at individuals in the age range 13-18. This will both develop their skills in the field of food awareness, and it will enable them to become the source of positive influences within their families and among their acquaintances.
Nursing implications: Nurse plays a fundamental role as an active subject in this field of primary prevention, transmitting knowledge to the recipients, coordinating with other professional figures (psychologists/professional educators).

Abstract The need to improve the sustainability of intensive livestock farming has led to an increasing adoption of Building Energy Simulation (BES) models for livestock houses. However, a consolidated body of knowledge specifically dedicated to these models is lacking in literature. This gap represents a significant obstacle to their widespread application and scalability in research and industry. The aim of this work is to pave the way for scaling the adoption of BES models for livestock houses by providing a comprehensive analysis of their application, development, and validation. For this aim, a systematic review of 42 papers—selected from over 795 results from the initial database query—is carried out. The findings underscored a growing body of research that involves BES models for different purposes. However, a common approach in both model development and validation is still lacking. This issue could hinder their scalability as a standard practice, especially in industry, also considering the limitations of BES models highlighted in this work. This review could represent a solid background for future research since provides an up-to-date framework on BES models for livestock houses and identifies future research opportunities. Moreover, it contributes to increasing the reliability of BES models for livestock houses by providing some recommendations for their validation.

Abstract Gender differences were identified in the frequency and clinical presentations of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and depressive and anxiety disorders, which are more common in IBD patients than in the general population. The present manuscript provides a critical overview of gender differences in the frequency and clinical course of mood and anxiety disorders in IBD patients, with the aim of helping clinicians provide individualized management for patients. All of the included studies found that IBD patients reported a higher frequency of depressive and anxiety disorders than the general population. These findings should encourage healthcare providers to employ validated tools to monitor the mental health of their IBD patients, such as the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). In addition, most studies confirm that women with IBD are more likely than men to develop affective disorders and show that up to 65% of women with IBD have depressive and anxiety disorders. Women with IBD require close mental health monitoring and ultimately a multidisciplinary approach involving mental health professionals. Drug treatment in women should be individualized and medications that may affect mental health (e.g., corticosteroids) should be thoroughly reconsidered. Further data are needed to ensure individualized treatment for IBD patients in a framework of precision medicine.

Abstract Benign acute childhood myositis (BACM) is a self-limited childhood illness, and viral infections mainly cause it. Clinical and laboratory alterations usually normalize rapidly; generally, the only medical intervention required is supportive (hydration and analgesic medication). The low awareness about BACM often led to delayed diagnosis and unneeded ancillary investigations. This study aims to better characterize the clinical and laboratory features of BACM to improve the diagnostic process and inpatient and outpatient management. We conducted a retrospective study selecting all children admitted to Meyer's Children's Hospital-IRCCS (Florence, Italy) with a diagnosis of BACM over the last 5 years, both those visited at Emergency Department (ED) and those admitted to the Pediatric Unit. Clinical, laboratory, and instrumental data were collected from electronic clinical records and analyzed. Overall, sixty-five patients were enrolled; 49 children were visited and discharged directly from ED, whereas 16 were admitted in the Pediatric or Neurologic Wards. The median age was 6.56 years (IQR 4.9-9.1). Male gender (66.1%) and Caucasian ethnicity (70%) were prevalent. Most patients were admitted during winter, and a second peak was found in autumn. All patients had bilateral calf pain, most of them (87.7%) associated with asthenia and refuse to walk (93.8%). Prodromal symptoms were fever (75.3%), cough (32.3%), coryza (26.1%), sore throat (26.1%), and vomiting (15.3%). The median value of CPK was 1827 U/L (IQR 915.5-2462) at peak. CPK median time to normalization was 7 days (IQR 7-8.5) from the nadir. Influenza B was the virus most frequently BACM associated, followed by Influenza A; a novel association with Sars-CoV-2 has been detected. Two patients had pathogenic variants at the Next Generation Sequencing myopathies panel.    Conclusion: School-aged children admitted to the hospital with walking difficulty and myalgia, generally after an upper respiratory tract infection with a moderate CPK elevation, should remind at first of BACM. Rapid complaint resolution and biochemical markers normalization will prevent unnecessary tests and inappropriate therapies. What is Known: • BACM is a self-limited syndrome associated with acute infections. Influenza A and B viruses are the main etiological agents, but BACM may be related to many other microorganisms like Parainfluenza virus, Epstein-Barr virus, Cytomegalovirus, Human herpesvirus 6, Respiratory syncytial virus, Coxsackieviruses, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Legionella, and Salmonella spp. • Clinical and laboratory alterations usually normalize rapidly; generally, the only medical intervention required is supportive (hydration, analgesic medication). Evolution in rhabdomyolysis and kidney damage is possible but rarely reported. What is New: • Sars-CoV-2 could be an emerging possible cause of BACM. During and after the Sars-CoV-2 outbreak, virus infection seasonality has changed, and so has BACM seasonality. • Screening tests for muscular and metabolic disorders are recommended in recurrent myositis and/or cases with marked CPK elevation (≥ 5000 U/L).

Abstract Purpose: To analyze the oncological outcomes and patterns of recurrence of patients with locoregionally advanced oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) who underwent neo-adjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) with subsequent transoral robotic surgery (TORS).
Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort study was performed, including 198 patients (mean age: 58.6, SD: 9.2). The primary outcome was disease-free survival (DFS).
    Results: The median follow-up time was 26.5 months (IQR: 16.0-52.0). Estimated DFS rates (95 % CI) at 1 and 3 years were 86.6 % (81.9-91.7), and 81.4 % (75.7-87.6), respectively. Estimated DSS rates (95 % CI) at 1 and 3 years were 96.7 % (94.1-99.3), and 92.6 % (88.4-97.0), respectively. Estimated OS rates (95 % CI) at 1 and 3 years were 96.2 % (93.4-99.0), and 88.7 % (83.4-94.2), respectively. A total of 31 (15.6 %) patients showed a disease relapse after a median time of 8 months (IQR: 4.0-12.0), but only 12 (6 %) patients died of the disease during the study period.
Conclusions: This study demonstrates that NCT and TORS can obtain excellent tumor control and survival in locoregionally advanced OPSCC. NCT might reduce the need for adjuvant treatments, and randomized clinical trials should be conducted to better define this aspect.
