Abstract The development of low-cost, efficient catalysts for electrocatalytic water splitting to generate green hydrogen is a hot topic among researchers. Herein, we have developed a highly efficient heterostructure of CoCr-LDH on NiO on nickel foam (NF) for the first time. The preparation strategy follows the simple annealing of a cleaned NF without using any Ni salt precursor, followed by the growth of CoCr-LDH nanosheets over the surface-oxidized NF. The CoCr-LDH/NiO/NF catalyst shows excellent electrocatalytic activity and stability toward oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in a 1 M KOH solution. For OER, only 253 mV and for HER, only 185 mV overpotentials are required to attain a 50 mA cm

Abstract A variable-range interacting Ising model with spin-1/2 particles exhibits distinct behavior depending on the fall-off rates in the range of interactions, notably non-local (NL), quasi-local (QL), and local. It is unknown if such a transition occurs in this model with an arbitrary spin quantum number. We establish its existence by analyzing the profiles of entanglement entropy, mutual information, and genuine multipartite entanglement (GME) of the weighted graph state (WGS), which is prepared when the multi-level maximally coherent state at each site evolves according to the spin-s Ising Hamiltonian. Specifically, we demonstrate that the scaling of time-averaged mutual information and the divergence in the first derivative of GME with respect to the fall-off rate in the WGS can indicate the transition point from NL to QL, which scales logarithmically with individual spin dimension. Additionally, we suggest that the existence of a saturation value of a finite number of qudits capable of mimicking the GME pattern of an arbitrarily large system-size can reveal the second transition point between quasi-local and local regions.

Abstract A quantum many-body system undergoes phase transitions of distinct species with variations of local and global parameters. We propose a framework in which a dynamical quantity can change its behavior with the quenching of either global (coarse-grained criteria) or local system parameters (fine-grained criteria), revealing the transition points present in global ones. We illustrate our technique by employing a long-range extended Ising model in the presence of a transverse magnetic field which can be mapped to spinless fermions and hence can be investigated for large system size. We report that the scaling law followed by the total correlation, the composition of both quantum and classical correlations in the steady state, can identify the transition points at which the known indicators like rate function or entanglement length fail. Specifically, in a fine-grained scenario, total correlation either follows the same scaling law with the quenching at and across the critical points along the transverse magnetic field, or obeys the different laws, thereby establishing a transition in the range of interactions.

Abstract To generate green hydrogen by water electrolysis, it is vital to develop highly efficient electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The utilization of various 3d transition metal-based layered double hydroxides (LDHs), especially NiFe-LDH, has gained vast attention for OER under alkaline conditions. However, the lack of a proper electronic structure of the NiFe-LDH and low stability under high-pH conditions limit its large-scale application. To overcome these difficulties, in this study, we constructed an Sn-doped NiFe-LDH material using a simple wet-chemical method. The doping of Sn will synergistically increase the active surface sites of NiFe-LDH. The highly active NiFe-LDH Sn

Abstract Water electrolysis is considered as one of the alternative potential approaches for producing renewable energy. Due to the sluggish kinetic nature of oxygen evolution reaction (OER), it encounters a significant overpotential to achieve water electrolysis. Hence, the advancement of cost-effective transition metal-based catalysts toward water splitting has gained global attention in recent years. In this work, the doping of Fe over amorphous NiWO

Abstract The quantum long-range extended Ising model possesses several striking features which cannot be observed in the corresponding short-range model. We report that the pattern obtained from the entanglement between any two arbitrary sites of the long-range model can be mimicked by the model having a finite range of interactions provided the interaction strength is moderate. On the other hand, we illustrate that when the interactions are strong, entanglement distribution in the long-range model does not match with the class of a few-range interacting model. We also show that the monogamy score of entanglement is in a good agreement with the behavior of pairwise entanglement. Specifically, it saturates when the entanglement in the finite-range Hamiltonian behaves similarly with the long-range model while it decays algebraically otherwise.

Abstract Prior information about the input state can be utilized to enhance the efficiency of quantum teleportation which we quantify using the first two moments of fidelity. The input knowledge is introduced by relaxing the uniformity assumption in the distribution of the input state and considering non-uniform distributions, namely the polar cap and von Mises-Fisher densities. For these distributions,we show that the average fidelity increases while the deviation decreases with the increase of information content about the input ensemble thereby establishing its role as a resource. Our comparative study between these two distributions reveals that for the same amount of information content about inputs, although the average fidelity yield is the same for both, the polar cap distribution is "better" as it offers a smaller deviation. Moreover, we contrast the resource of prior information with other resources involved in the protocol like shared entanglement and classical communication. Specifically, we observe that unlike uniform distribution, the amount of classical communication required to fulfill the task decreases with the increase of information available for inputs. We also investigate the role of prior information in higher (three) dimensional teleportation and report the signatures of dimensional advantage in prior information-based teleportation.

Abstract Distribution of quantum entanglement is investigated for an anisotropic quantum XY model with variable range interactions and in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field. We report the possibility of qualitative growth in entanglement with an increase in the range of interactions that vary either exponentially or polynomially as the distance between the sites increases. Interestingly, we find that such entanglement enhancement is not ubiquitous and is dependent on the factorization points, a specific set of system parameters where the zero-temperature state of the system is fully separable. In particular, we observe that at zero-temperature, when the system parameters are chosen beyond the pair of factorization points, the increments in entanglement length due to variable range interactions are more pronounced compared to the situation when the parameters lie in between the factorization points. We also note that the factorization points get reallocated depending on the laws of interaction fall-offs. We reveal that the temperature at which the canonical equilibrium state becomes entangled from an unentangled one increases with the increase in the range of interactions, thereby demonstrating enhanced robustness in entanglement against temperature in the presence of long-range interactions. Interestingly, however, such robustness in entanglement is observed only when the system parameters are chosen between the pair of factorization points.

Abstract Classical information encoded in composite quantum states can be completely hidden from the reduced subsystems and may be found only in the correlations. Can the same be true for quantum information? If quantum information is hidden from subsystems and spread over quantum correlation, we call it masking of quantum information. We show that while this may still be true for some restricted sets of nonorthogonal quantum states, it is not possible for arbitrary quantum states. This result suggests that quantum qubit commitment-a stronger version of the quantum bit commitment-is not possible in general. Our findings may have potential applications in secret sharing and future quantum communication protocols.

Abstract We investigate the behavior of quantum correlations of paradigmatic quenched disordered quantum spin models, viz., the XY spin glass and random-field XY models. We show that quenched averaged quantum correlations can exhibit the order-from-disorder phenomenon for finite-size systems as well as in the thermodynamic limit. Moreover, we find that the order-from-disorder can become more pronounced in the presence of temperature by suitable tuning of the system parameters. The effects are found for entanglement measures as well as for information-theoretic quantum correlation ones, although the former show them more prominently. We also observe that the equivalence between the quenched averages and their self-averaged cousins--for classical and quantum correlations--is related to the quantum critical point in the corresponding ordered system.
