Abstract | The combination of 0D nanoparticles with 2D nanomaterials has attracted a lot of attention over the last years due to the unique multimodal properties of resulting 0D-2D nanocomposites. In this work, we developed boron nitride nanosheets (BNNS) functionalized with manganese ferrite magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). The functionalization process involved attachment of MNPs to exfoliated BNNS by refluxing the precursor materials in a polyol medium. Characterization of the produced BNNS-MNP composites was carried out using powder X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
