Abstract The senior paramedical staff is fully involved in the coordination of care over twenty-fourhours. To this end, regular exchanges with those professionnals are an integral part of the managerial organization. Relying on the necessity to involve them in institutional projects that have an impact on their practices, these managerial positions aim to support the dynamics of teamwork, based in particular on the collection of their opinions, their suggestions and their needs for training or reorganization.

Abstract Background: Injuries to the posterolateral corner of the knee are commonly reported in athletes, although the prevalence of isolated injuries to the popliteus in athletes is largely unknown.
Purpose: To systematically review the literature to better understand the prevalence, mechanisms, sporting activities, tear characteristics, management, outcomes, and return-to-sport rate and timing in athletes who have sustained isolated popliteus injuries.
Study design: Systematic review; Level of evidence, 4.
Methods: Following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines, the authors searched the PubMed, OVID, MEDLINE, Biosis Previews, SPORTDiscus, PEDRO, and EMBASE databases for studies from January 1988 to August 2021 on athletes who sustained isolated popliteus injuries during sporting activities.
Results: A total of 19 studies consisting of 27 athletes with isolated popliteus injuries sustained during sport were identified. The mean athlete age was 19.9 ± 10.5 years, while 89% (n = 24/27) were male. Traumatic/contact mechanisms were reported in 67% (n = 18/27) of injuries, with American football and soccer being the most common sports. Lateral-sided knee pain was the most frequent complaint, with 85% (n = 23/27) of athletes reporting swelling. Avulsion injuries off the lateral condyle were present in 67% (n = 18/27) of cases. Nonoperative management was performed in 52% (n = 14/27) of athletes. Operative treatment consisted primarily of arthroscopic or open fixation of the osseous fragment. When reported, all athletes successfully returned to sport at a mean of 10.8 ± 8.2 weeks after injury.
Conclusion: Isolated injuries to the popliteus remain rarely reported in athletes, and athletes are typically evaluated after they experience forced external rotation of the tibia relative to the femur, present with lateral-sided knee pain and effusion, and undergo a stable ligamentous examination. Injuries occurred primarily in male athletes and were the result of traumatic/contact mechanisms, most commonly involving avulsion injuries off the lateral femoral condyle.

Abstract Despite an abundance of research reaffirming biodiversity's importance to the health of the planet and society, species continue to go extinct at an alarming rate. Why has continued research on the value of biodiversity not had the intended effect and what can be done about it? We considered biodiversity loss as a public value failure and the result of a misalignment between the logic of inquiry (which guides scientists) and the logic of action (which guides practitioners). We drew lessons from our own research to propose the creation of a national biodiversity strategy designed to link the logic of inquiry with the logic of action and coordinate the production of actionable conservation science and informed conservation action.

Abstract Instability of the long head of the biceps brachii tendon is a recognized source of shoulder pain. However, this diagnosis is usually associated with concomitant pathology including subscapularis tendon tears. The appropriate diagnosis of biceps incarceration or instability remains challenging, with failure to address instability being likely to result in persistent pain and disability despite arthroscopic management of concomitant shoulder pathology. The objective of this article is to (1) describe a dynamic test performed both preoperatively and intraoperatively, termed the "biceps incarceration maneuver," to help identify biceps instability; (2) reinforce the concept that biceps instability must be ruled out in young patients presenting with anterior shoulder pain; and (3) report that with proper diagnosis and treatment, patients with biceps instability will experience rapid symptomatic resolution after management.

Abstract Purpose: To systematically review the literature to provide an updated evaluation of postoperative clinical outcomes, return to play, and postoperative complications following primary ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction (UCLR) in throwing and non-throwing athletes at a minimum two-year follow-up.
Methods: A literature search was performed on November 25
Results: A total of 21 studies from 2006 to 2023, consisting of 2,452 patients (n=2,420 males) with a mean age of 21.7 years (mean range, 12-65 years) and mean follow-up of 50.5 months (mean range, 24 - 151.2 months) were included. The mean MINORS score was 16 (range, 13 to 20). A total of 46% (n=1,138/2,452) of patients underwent a concomitant ulnar nerve transposition. The palmaris graft was the most frequently utilized (66.6%; n=1,799), followed by a hamstring graft (26.0%; n=703). At the final follow-up, the mean postoperative KJOC score ranged from 72.0 - 88.0, the mean AT score ranged from 83.6 - 98.3 and the mean Satisfaction score ranged from 86.1 - 98.3. Overall RTP rate ranged from 62.5% to 100% at a mean range of 9.5-18.5 months. The total incidence of complications ranged from 0% - 31.8%, with 0% - 7.4% of patients undergoing revision surgery.
Conclusion: UCL reconstruction was commonly performed using a palmaris graft, with concomitant ulnar nerve transposition reported in 46% of patients. At a mean follow-up of 50.5 months, mean postoperative KJOC scores ranged from 72 to 98.3, AT scores ranged from 83.6 to 98.3, and satisfaction scores ranged from 86.1 to 98.3, with variable RTP rates.

Abstract Purpose: To systematically review studies utilizing video analyses to evaluate anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury mechanisms in athletes during sport to better understand risk factors and the potential for injury prevention.
Methods: A literature search was conducted in accordance with the 2020 PRISMA guidelines statement using SCOPUS, PubMed, Medline, and the Cochrane Central Register for Controlled Trials from database inception through June 2023. Inclusion criteria including studies reporting on ACL injury mechanisms occurring in athletes based on video analysis. Athlete demographics, injury mechanisms, position of the lower extremity, and activity at the time of injury were recorded.
Results: A total of 13 studies, consisting of 542 athletes, met inclusion criteria. The majority of athletes competed at the professional level (91%, n=495/542) with 79% (n=422/536) of athletes being male. The most common sports were soccer (33%, n=178/542) and American football (26%, n=140/542). The most common injury mechanism was non-contact in 42.9% (n=230/536) of athletes, followed by indirect contact (32.6%, n=175/536) and direct contact (22.4%, n=120/536). The most common position of injury was with a planted foot ( 91.7%, n=110/120), full or near full knee extension ( 84.4%, n=49/58), and axial loading ( 81.3%, n=87/107). Injuries commonly involved a deceleration/shift in momentum ( 50.4%, n=123/244) or pivoting maneuver ( 36.1%, n=77/213). At the time of injury, the knee commonly fell into valgus ( 76.8%, n=225/293) with associated internal (53.5%, n=46/86) or external tibiofemoral rotation ( 57.7%, n=101/175).
Conclusions: The majority of ACL injuries, when evaluated by video analysis, involve professional athletes participating in soccer and American football. The most common injury mechanism occurred without contact with the knee in extension during a deceleration or momentum shift, with resultant valgus and rotational force across the knee.
Level of evidence: IV; Systematic review of level IV studies.

Abstract There is growing concern about the impact of infectious diseases in athletes, especially as they relate to exposures in athletic training facilities. This article reviews common pathogens encountered in athletic training facilities, while offering an evidence-based overview of practical preventative measures that can be implemented to reduce the incidence of infectious diseases in close-contact sports such as American football and wrestling.
