Abstract The rapid modernization in China has aggravated the reduction of the traditional settlements and aroused concern about the protection and research. This study aims to examine the spatial-temporal variations Tujia traditional settlements in China and to delineate the driving mechanism of the settlement distribution. Previous studies have focused on the characteristics of settlements in provincial or smaller areas, providing lacked information regarding spatial distribution heterogeneity of Tujia traditional settlements in China. In this study, the spatial heterogeneity and influence factors of the distribution of traditional Tujia settlements were examined using the GIS platform and statistical methods. The results reveal that the spatial distribution of settlements exhibits clustering with the pattern of "scattered distribution in a large region, while concentrated in small areas". The settlements were generally built in low hills, gentle slopes, sunny slopes and low-relief terrain areas, with elevation, relief degree of land surface (RDLS), slope and aspect were the key factors affecting the distribution. In Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, settlements showed significant clustering all through, though the location and number of clustering center kept changing. In this process, the history of the Tujia chieftain and the transportation and marketing lines of Sichuan salt had a profound influence on the historical evolution of the settlement.

Abstract China's agricultural subsidy system has increased the investment on the agricultural production factors such as energy and chemistry, which caused an increase of agricultural carbon emissions. Based on the Thousand-Village Survey data from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in 2013, the focal paper uses ordinary and two-stage least squares (OLS and 2SLS) to systematically investigate the impact and mechanism of agricultural subsidies on agricultural carbon emissions in China. Results show that China's current agricultural subsidy system has a promoting effect on agricultural carbon emissions. Four types of agricultural subsidies, namely, direct grain subsidies, subsidies for improved varieties, comprehensive subsidies for agricultural materials, and agricultural machinery purchase subsidies, impact the agricultural carbon emissions in ascending order. The agricultural subsidies increase the agricultural carbon emissions directly and indirectly. The findings indicate that a new type of agricultural subsidy system should be constructed, which mainly includes subsidies for farmers' out-migrating for work and land transfer, direct subsidies for grain, and subsidies for improved seed varieties. Among them, the direct grain subsidies should be implemented on the size of planting area and subsidies for improved seed varieties on the size of farmland to reduce the agricultural carbon emissions.

Abstract Nucleic acid is one of the most important substances in organisms, and its dynamic changes are closely related to physiological processes. Nucleic acid labeling is conducive to providing important information for the early diagnosis and treatment of pathophysiological processes. Here, we utilized the transfer mechanism between carbon sources and CDs to synthesize wavelength-adjustable N-CDs for the nucleic acid image. Along with the increased graphite nitrogen (from 10.6 to 30.1%) gradually by the precise design of the nitrogen structure in carbon sources (e.g., primary amines, secondary amines, tertiary amines, and liking graphite-nitrogen), the energy gap of CDs reduced, resulting in adjustable wavelength from visible to near-infrared range (from 461 nm/527 nm to 650 nm/676 nm). Furthermore, N-CDs exhibited a selective affinity for nucleic acids, especially RNA. Therefore, N-CDs support an efficient platform for real-time tracking of RNA dynamic changes in cells.

Abstract Photosensitizer-based photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been considered as a promising modality for fighting diverse types of cancers. PDT directly inhibits local tumors by a minimally invasive strategy, but it seems to be incapable of achieving complete eradication and fails to prevent metastasis and recurrence. Recently, increasing events proved that PDT was associated with immunotherapy by triggering immunogenic cell death (ICD). Upon a specific wavelength of light irradiation, the photosensitizers will turn the surrounding oxygen molecules into cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) for killing the cancer cells. Simultaneously, the dying tumor cells release tumor-associated antigens, which could improve immunogenicity to activate immune cells. However, the progressively enhanced immunity is typically limited by the intrinsic immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). To overcome this obstacle, immuno-photodynamic therapy (IPDT) has come to be one of the most beneficial strategies, which takes advantage of PDT to stimulate the immune response and unite immunotherapy for inducing immune-OFF tumors to immune-ON ones, to achieve systemic immune response and prevent cancer recurrence. In this Perspective, we provide a review of recent advances in organic photosensitizer-based IPDT. The general process of immune responses triggered by photosensitizers (PSs) and how to enhance the antitumor immune pathway by modifying the chemical structure or conjugating with a targeting component was discussed. In addition, future perspectives and challenges associated with IPDT strategies are also discussed. We hope this Perspective could inspire more innovative ideas and provide executable strategies for future developments in the war against cancer.

Abstract Background: Stomach cancer is a significant health problem in many countries. But healthcare needs of adolescents and young adults (AYAs) stomach cancer patients have been historically neglected. An accurate appraisal of the burden of AYA stomach cancer is crucial to formulating effective preventive strategies. In this study, we report the most recent estimates of AYA stomach cancer burden concerning socio-demographic index (SDI) in 204 countries and territories between 1990 and 2019.
Methods: Estimates from the Global Burden of Disease study 2019 were used to analyze incidence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) due to AYA stomach cancer at global, regional, and national levels. Association between AYA stomach cancer burden and SDI were investigated. All estimates are reported as absolute numbers and age-standardized rates, which were standardized to the GBD world population and reported per 100,000 population.
Results: In 2019, there were 49,000 incident cases, 27,895 deaths, and 1.57 million DALYs due to AYA stomach cancer globally. The highest age-standardized incidence rate occurred in East Asia [2.42 (women) and 4.71 (men) per 100,000 person-years] and high-income Asia Pacific [3.16 (women) and 2.61 (men) per 100,000 person-years]. Age-standardized death [1.53 (women) and 2.65 (men) per 100,000 person-years] and DALY [150.96 (women) and 87.13 (men) per 100,000 person-years] rates were highest in Oceania. Compared with 1990, in 2019 more than 1,075 more incident cases of AYA stomach cancer were estimated with a decrease of 7,784 deaths. Despite the increase in absolute number of incident cases, the worldwide age-standardized rates of AYA stomach cancer (incidence, deaths, and DALYs) have declined since 1990. The drop in the disease burden was associated with an improved SDI. Globally, 24.41% of the age-standardized DALYs were attributable to a high-sodium diet in both sexes combined, and 0.57% of the age-standardized DALYs were attributable to smoking in men.
Conclusion: The global burden of AYA stomach cancer is substantial, especially in developing regions. Capacity-building activities for AYA stomach cancer will benefit the younger generation and population health worldwide.

Abstract It is crucial to achieve sustainable development using digital finance to promote the fulfillment of corporate social responsibility. In this paper, we study the impact of digital finance on corporate social responsibility performance of pollution-intensive industry. From the perspective of theoretical mechanism, digital finance could influence corporate social responsibility performance through financing effect. Then, we use the data of Chinese listed companies and the Peking University Digital Financial Inclusion Index of China (PKU_DFIIC) to empirically test the influence of digital finance on corporate social responsibility of pollution-intensive industry. The results show that digital finance is positively related to the fulfillment of corporate social responsibility of pollution-intensive industry. The mechanism test shows that by reducing the information asymmetry in the financial market and making them easier for enterprises to access the financial market, digital finance effectively alleviates the financing constraints of enterprises and then enables enterprises to invest more capital in corporate social responsibility. Furthermore, we find that there are heterogeneous influences of digital finance on the corporate social responsibility performance of different types of enterprises. Specially, enterprises with small scale, located in high informatization and marketization areas and eastern regions of China, and enterprises with high ownership concentration will enjoy more positive impact. By using different indicators to measure digital finance and changing samples for robustness checks, the research conclusions of the paper are still valid. Therefore, government should make more effort to support the development of digital finance, so as to promote corporate social responsibility of pollution-intensive industry and the green and sustainable development of the economy.

Abstract An optimal structure of wind turbines, especially the Dual Darrieus Wind Turbines (DDWTs), conduces to the development and promotion of wind power industry. However, the conventional structure optimization in the previous researches is basically relied on the numerical or experimental methods. In view of the balance between solution accuracy and computational cost, this study develops a bi-level structure design and optimization model based on the algorithms of machine learning. The first hierarchy is the prediction model, including the non-parameters algorithms such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) to play a role as the objective function in the overall model. The second hierarchy, as the optimization model, is composed of the metaheuristic algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Simulated Annealing method (SA) and Genetic Algorithm (GA). Furthermore, the dataset used to train this hybrid model is generated by Orthogonal Test (OT) method and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CDF) simulation to produce the representative sample. Results reveal that the Hybrid Structure Design and Optimization Model (HSDOM) can reach to the optimal combination of chord ratio, radius difference and offset angle, with an identical accuracy compared with the outcome of OT-CFD model.

Abstract This study focuses on the blade design and optimization of Dual Darrieus Wind turbines (DDWTs). Based on Genetic Expression Programming (GEP) model, a power prediction formula CP=f(Δ,β,θ), containing radius difference Δ, chord ratio β, and offset angle θ, is proposed in this study. Hence, the power coefficient of various blade layouts can be directly calculated, corresponding to their optimum TSR. Meanwhile, orthogonal array L₉ (3⁴) and Modified Additive Model (MAM) are combined to ensure the representative sample and consider the interaction effects. Additionally, each configuration in dataset requires to execute Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses under various Tip Speed Ratios (TSRs) to figure out the highest power coefficient. The optimum layout of double-layer blades, derived from Taguchi Method and CP=f(Δ,β,θ), features the parameter combination as radius difference Δ of 0.25 m and chord ratio β of 3, which can improve the power output by 7.5%. The power prediction formula established by GEP is competent to approximate CP value of double-layer blades precisely which is verified by the correlation index R² = 0.993 and supplementary CFD cases. The proposed methodology indicates that DDWTs deserve to be further researched and developed.

Abstract The structure of the maize kernels plays a critical role in determining maize yield and quality, and high-throughput, non-destructive microscope phenotypic characteristics acquisition and analysis are of great importance. In this study, Micro-CT technology was used to obtain images of maize kernels. An automatic CT image analysis pipeline was then developed to extract 20 traits related to the three-dimensional structure of kernel, embryo, endosperm, and cavity. The determination coefficients for five volume-related traits (embryo, endosperm, silty endosperm, embryo cavity, and endosperm cavity) were 0.95, 0.95, 0.77, 0.73, and 0.94, respectively. Further, we analyzed the phenotypic variations among a group of 303 inbred lines and conducted genome-wide association studies (GWAS). A total of 26 significant SNP loci were associated with these traits that are closely related to kernel volume, and 62 candidate genes were identified. Functional analysis revealed that most candidate genes corresponding to cavity traits encoded stress resistance proteins, while those corresponding to embryo and endosperm traits encoded proteins involved in regulating plant growth and development. These results will improve the understanding of the phenotypic traits of maize kernels and will provide new theoretical support for in-depth analysis of the genetic mechanism of kernel structure traits.
