    Due to the dynamic motion of the sea, radar detection of small maritime targets can be difficult. Airborne maritime surveillance platforms are also increasingly required to operate at higher altitudes where backscatter from the sea becomes stronger. The focus of this paper is to investigate three sparse signal separation formulations using the short time Fourier transform as a dictionary. This approach has been demonstrated as effective in separating both stationary and moving targets from sea clutter, but relies on the tuning of different parameters. The first part of this work looks at the selection of the penalty parameter, which is essential to achieve good separation. Then a number of practical detection schemes are presented that allow control of the false alarm rate. The algorithm performance is demonstrated using Monte-Carlo simulation with synthetic targets injected into the Ingara medium grazing angle sea-clutter data set.

    Radar detection of small maritime targets can be difficult due to the dynamic motion of the sea. Airborne maritime surveillance platforms are also increasingly required to operate in environments where the sea clutter is strong with persistent breaking waves resembling targets. The focus of this article is to investigate three sparse signal separation formulations using the short time Fourier transform as a dictionary. This approach has been demonstrated as effective in separating both stationary and moving targets from sea clutter but relies on the tuning of different parameters. The first part of this article looks at how to select these parameters which are essential to achieve good separation. Then, a number of practical detection schemes are presented that allow control of the false alarm rate. The algorithm performance is demonstrated using Monte Carlo simulation with synthetic targets injected into the Ingara medium grazing angle sea-clutter data set.

    This paper presents the multifunctional use of a developed dual-channel broadband receiver for bistatic radar applications. Modern broadband receivers integrate more and more functionality due to their increased performance. For example, the simultaneous operation of radar, communication applications and spectrum sensing is possible with a single receiver. Broadband antenna elements, radio frequency stages and corresponding analog-to-digital converters enable the multifunctional use over a wide frequency range. This reduces the overall hardware costs as the required tasks can be performed with the same device. In this paper we therefore demonstrate the multifunctional use of the receiver also for bistatic radar applications using a X-band radar as cooperative illuminator. A signal processing methodology using the sampled data from a reference and surveillance channel and the known transmit pulse parameters is presented to perform range-Doppler processing. The performance of the proposed approach is demonstrated with measurement data collected during several measurement campaigns in different rural terrain types representing the probable environment of operation for such a receiver.

    In this paper we present the statistical analysis of bistatic rural ground clutter for different terrain types. Compared to state-of-the-art analysis we present clutter models for subdivisions of rural environments. Therefore, four measurement campaigns have been carried out during summer of 2019 in four different rural terrain types, namely a field with low vegetation, with high vegetation, plantation of small trees and forest environment representing a typical rural German environment. The measurements have been carried out in the radar relevant X-Band at a center frequency of 8.85GHz and with a bandwidth of 100MHz. The distinction of the rural terrain into different types enables a more precise and accurate clutter analysis and modelling of the statistical properties as shown in the presented results. The statistical properties are derived from the calculated probability density functions and the corresponding cumulative density functions for each of the four terrain types from the measured range-Doppler domain data.

    Abstract Searches for the lepton number violating K^{+}→π^{-}μ^{+}e^{+} decay and the lepton flavor violating K^{+}→π^{+}μ^{-}e^{+} and π^{0}→μ^{-}e^{+} decays are reported using data collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2017-2018. No evidence for these decays is found and upper limits of the branching ratios are obtained at 90% confidence level: B(K^{+}→π^{-}μ^{+}e^{+})<4.2×10^{-11}, B(K^{+}→π^{+}μ^{-}e^{+})<6.6×10^{-11} and B(π^{0}→μ^{-}e^{+})<3.2×10^{-10}. These results improve by 1 order of magnitude over previous results for these decay modes.

    Abstract: A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in the decays of B^{0} and B[over ¯]^{0} mesons to the final states J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0}, ψ(2S)(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0} and J/ψ(→e^{+}e^{-})K_{S}^{0} with K_{S}^{0}→π^{+}π^{-} is presented. The data ... ...

    Abstract A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in the decays of B^{0} and B[over ¯]^{0} mesons to the final states J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0}, ψ(2S)(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0} and J/ψ(→e^{+}e^{-})K_{S}^{0} with K_{S}^{0}→π^{+}π^{-} is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 6  fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13  TeV with the LHCb detector. The CP-violation parameters are measured to be S_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.717±0.013(stat)±0.008(syst) and C_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.008±0.012(stat)±0.003(syst). This measurement of S_{ψK_{S}^{0}} represents the most precise single measurement of the CKM angle β to date and is more precise than the current world average. In addition, measurements of the CP-violation parameters of the individual channels are reported and a combination with the LHCb Run 1 measurements is performed.

    Abstract The decay-time-dependent CP asymmetry in B_{s}^{0}→J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K^{+}K^{-} decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6  fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Using a sample of approximately 349 000 B_{s}^{0} signal decays with an invariant K^{+}K^{-} mass in the vicinity of the ϕ(1020) resonance, the CP-violating phase ϕ_{s} is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the B_{s}^{0}-B[over ¯]_{s}^{0} system, ΔΓ_{s}, and the difference of the average B_{s}^{0} and B^{0} meson decay widths, Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}. The values obtained are ϕ_{s}=-0.039±0.022±0.006  rad, ΔΓ_{s}=0.0845±0.0044±0.0024  ps^{-1}, and Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}=-0.0056_{-0.0015}^{+0.0013}±0.0014  ps^{-1}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise single measurements to date and are consistent with expectations based on the Standard Model and with the previous LHCb analyses of this decay. These results are combined with previous independent LHCb measurements. The phase ϕ_{s} is also measured independently for each polarization state of the K^{+}K^{-} system and shows no evidence for polarization dependence.
