Abstract We present a study on the possibility of searching for long-lived supersymmetric partners with the MoEDAL experiment at the LHC. MoEDAL is sensitive to highly ionising objects such as magnetic monopoles or massive (meta)stable electrically charged particles. We focus on prospects of directly detecting long-lived sleptons in a phenomenologically realistic model which involves an intermediate neutral long-lived particle in the decay chain. This scenario is not yet excluded by the current data from ATLAS or CMS, and is compatible with astrophysical constraints. Using Monte Carlo simulation, we compare the sensitivities of MoEDAL versus ATLAS in scenarios where MoEDAL could provide discovery reach complementary to ATLAS and CMS, thanks to looser selection criteria combined with the virtual absence of background. It is also interesting to point out that, in such scenarios, in which charged staus are the main long-lived candidates, the relevant mass range for MoEDAL is compatible with a potential role of Supersymmetry in providing an explanation for the anomalous events observed by the ANITA detector.

Abstract Aim: To identify the specific risk factors for chronic hepatitis B/C virus infections in the correctional system in Moldova (Romania).
Material and methods: The study included 533 subjects imprisoned in three correctional facilities located in the Northern region of Moldova. The subjects were divided into 2 groups: HBV/HBC group--108; Control group--425.
Results: The risk factor for transfusion-contracted HBV/HCV was 3.73; the empirical treatment of the HBV/HBC group resulted in a relative infection risk of 2.62; syringe sharing in the HBV/HBC group accounted for a risk factor of over 4 (OR = 4.33); tattooing induced a relative risk factor of 1.25, and piercing was a risk factor of approximately 2 (OR = 1.97); sharing personal care items represented a risk factor of over 2 (OR = 2.02). Injection drugs induced a relative risk of over 4 (OR = 4.33). In the HBV/HCV group, self-aggression represented a risk factor of 1.65.
Conclusions: Prison environment, by its specific and nonspecific contamination modalities (shared with the rest of the population but more common) causes that inmates to be 2-4 times more exposed to hepatitis B/C infection.

Abstract A prospective study was made on 1068 pupils, aged between 10-15 years (group I). From this group 995 pupils were examined after four to seven years (group II). Their age was between 16-19 years. The study contained: anthropometric data, blood pressure (BP) and pulse measurements, and a standard record using the epidemiologic interview method. For each pupil we determined the following familial and personal antecedent of cardiovascular disease, especially arterial hypertension; alimentary habits (salt and hydro-carbonate excess); consumption of coffee and cigarettes; physical activity; tendency to sedentarism; school or family stress; and behaviour type. Data were worked out and interpreted, using epidemiologic and statistic methods in Epi Info 6 program. The prevalence of genetic factors (4% in group I and 4.3% in group II), consumption of salt (38% in group I and 35% in group II), obesity (1.5% in group and 1.4% in group II), sedentariness (4.8% in group I and 6.8% in group II), stress (9.8% in group I and 10.5% in group II), with behaviour type A (41% I group and 52% in group II) all presented almost equal values in the two groups regardless of age or BP level. The statistical study of the influence of the risk factors on BP values, using student's t test has demonstrated the contributory part of the genetic factor, the excess of sweets and stress. The deleterious effects of arterial hypertension risk factors, which can begin early in childhood demonstrate the necessity for responsible parties (family, school, doctors, etc.) to be aware of these risk factors and assist in their control.

Title translation Severe hypoglycemia in children and adolescents suffering from type 1 diabetes mellitus.
Abstract Unlabelled: Hypoglycemia is the main fear of diabetic children and their parents. Severe hypoglycemia and diabetes ketoacidosis are medical emergencies that concern a patient's life prognosis.
Aim: To determine the rate of occurrence of severe hypoglycemia and identification of the latter's causes.
Material and method: The study was carried out on a group of 84 children and adolescents suffering from type 1 diabetes, whom were investigated to determine the rate of occurrence of severe hypoglycemia episodes in the last 12 months, to identify their risk factors and to try to establish a relation between the onset of hypoglycemia and certain parameters like age, duration of disease, insulin therapy, metabolic control.
Results: 23 of the 84 patients reported at least one severe hypoglycemia in the last 12 months. 47% of the cases of hypoglycemia were caused by the patient's failure to observe the meal timetable, which led to delays in the carbohydrates intake, 19% were due to a high physical effort and 14% by excessive insulin administration. Most of the patients with severe hypoglycemia, that is 20 if 23, were on a multiple insulin injection treatment. As concerns the blood sugar balance, the mean Hb A1c values were between 6.4% and 9.1%, the severe hypoglycemia episodes occurred both in patients with very good metabolic control and in those with poor blood sugar balance.
Conclusions: Severe hypoglycemia occurred in 27.3% of the children and adolescents suffering from type 1 diabetes, the most frequent cause revealed by this study being the delay in the carbohydrates intake. The prevention of this acute metabolic complication by a continuous medical education of diabetic patients is essential.

Title translation White-coat arterial hypertension in children and adolescents.
Abstract Although intensively discussed and finally accepted in the last years "white coat phenomenon" (WCF) still raises the question of the benefit of diagnosing it in pediatric patients as its possible link with the subsequent essential hypertension is not clear yet. This study included 1068 schoolchildren (aged 10 to 16 years) submitted to a screening program for detecting the in time variations of blood pressure (BP). When the study was started WCP was present in 60 children (5.6%) and when it ended its frequency raised to 8.73%. In 14 of 60 children (23.3%) WCP progressed to borderline or confirmed essential hypertension, incidence higher that that of similar forms of essential hypertension occurring in patients with normal BP levels (20 of 955 = 2.05%). With time, the frequency of borderline and confirmed essential hypertension has also increased: 5.11% at the first determination to 7.85% at last one. The high frequency of WCF and associated with the high frequency of its progression to essential hypertension support the idea that WCP has a predictive value for the development of essential hypertension. An early diagnosis and the prevention of other risk factors may lower the frequency of essential hypertension in adults.

Title translation Contributions to the implementation of screening tests for assessing the neuropsychic development in children.
Abstract Unlabelled: Currently, in Romania the general practitioner does not use screening tests to detect the developmental problems in children. That might be the reason why many cases are diagnosed too late.
Aim: To evaluate the impact and the usefulness of a screening tool for neurodevelopmental disorders in primary care.
Material and methods: This trans-sequential study was carried out a on a series of 324 children under the age of 5 in the interval January 2007-December 2010. The neurodevelopmental status of the children was assessed by two methods: routine clinical assessment, and ASQ screening tools.
Results: Compared to routine assessment, by which 33 children (10,2%) with development delays have been detected, the use of parent-addressed questionnaires raised the detection percentage to 12% (6 more children). The use of parent-addressed questionnaires also improved the doctor-patient communication, increased the degree of parental involvement in their child's development stimulation, especially with regard to the malfunctions in verbal and cognitive behavior.
Conclusions: The use of validated screening tests is a goal for improving the primary care practice.

Abstract The MoEDAL trapping detector consists of approximately 800 kg of aluminum volumes. It was exposed during run 2 of the LHC program to 6.46  fb^{-1} of 13 TeV proton-proton collisions at the LHCb interaction point. Evidence for dyons (particles with electric and magnetic charge) captured in the trapping detector was sought by passing the aluminum volumes comprising the detector through a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer. The presence of a trapped dyon would be signaled by a persistent current induced in the SQUID magnetometer. On the basis of a Drell-Yan production model, we exclude dyons with a magnetic charge ranging up to five Dirac charges (5g_{D}) and an electric charge up to 200 times the fundamental electric charge for mass limits in the range 870-3120 GeV and also monopoles with magnetic charge up to and including 5g_{D} with mass limits in the range 870-2040 GeV.

Title translation Assessment of complications of excess weight in school-age children and adolescents.
Abstract Unlabelled: Due to the higher incidence of children obesity, in the last decade, the scientific community as well as mass media have increased their interest towards obesity and eating habits.
Material and method: The study has been made on a number of 108 pediatric patients with intercurrent affections that has been diagnosed with obesity or weight excess between 2005 and 2008. The evaluation of the pacients has been done with the use of anamnesis, full clinical examination and biochemical investigations.
Results: The case repartition based on body mass index has revealed that 46.29% of the pacients have excess weight and 53.70% suffer from obesity. The biochemical alterations have shown the following: regarding the glucidic metabolism--21 cases with impaired basal glycaemia, 5 cases with low glucose tolerance and 2 cases with diabetes mellitus type 1; regarding the lipidic metabolism--39 cases with modifications of triglycerides, of cholesterol fractions or of both categories. Also, we found the X metabolic syndrome in 20 of the studied cases, hyperuricaemia in 13 cases, hepatic steatosis in 10 cases and arterial hypertension in 34 of the cases. Almost half of the interviewed subjects have accused different types of psycho-behaviour changes.
Conclusions: From the investigated complications, the dislipidemic syndrome, arterial hypertension and glucidic metabolism disorders have had an important place and have completed the metabolic syndrome picture in an important number of cases.
