Abstract Objectives: The objective of this study was to explore gender incongruence among French healthcare professionals and its associated factors.
Study design: Nationwide online cross-sectional survey.
Methods: Healthcare professionals were recruited from May 2, 2021, to June 30, 2021, through social networks, professional networks, and email invitations. A multivariate regression model was used to analyze the association between gender incongruence and socio-demographic, professional, mental health, and addiction behavior factors.
Results: The study included 10,325 healthcare professionals, indicating a prevalence of gender incongruence at 2.6% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.3-2.9%). In multivariate analyses, we found that healthcare professionals with gender incongruence, when compared to their counterparts, exhibited the following characteristics: they were more frequently male (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 1.88, 95% CI: [1.42-2.48], p < 0.001), less frequently physicians (aOR = 0.18, 95%CI: [0.11-0.29], p < 0.001), health executives (aOR = 0.51 [0.34-0.77], p = 0.001), nurses (aOR = 0.47, 95%CI: [0.33-0.68], p < 0.001), and other allied professionals (aOR = 0.33, 95%CI [0.23-0.49], p < 0.001) than nurse assistants, they consumed antidepressants more frequently (aOR = 1.52, 95%CI: [1.02-2.26], p = 0.041) and were more likely to be tobacco smokers (aOR = 1.34 (1.02-1.77), p = 0.035). We did not observe any significant associations with age, hazardous drinking, sustained bullying at the work place, or sexual-orientation-based discrimination (all p > 0.05).
Conclusions: Gender incongruence should be taken into account at the management, colleague, or institution levels. We found that the professionals reporting gender incongruence consumed more antidepressants and smoked more, which may indicate a certain level of distress that warrants further investigation.

Abstract Purpose of review: Multiple countries have reported increased COVID-19 mortality in patients with schizophrenia. The purpose of this review was to synthetize the consequences of the pandemic on patients with schizophrenia including vaccination data.
Recent findings: We have synthetized data on the increased risk of infection and increased mortality, the impact of the pandemic and lockdowns on psychiatric care, vaccination policies, unwillingness to vaccine in patients and the rates of vaccination.
Summary: Schizophrenia has been confirmed at increased risk of both COVID-19 infection and developing a severe/lethal form of the infection. Patients with schizophrenia should, therefore, be prioritized for vaccination whenever possible and should be prioritized for psychiatric and somatic care access. Psychotic symptomatology may be a barrier to vaccination in some patients, and heterogenous vaccination rates were identified in national databases. The COVID-19 pandemic has been also a unique opportunity to develop telehealth. A mixed face-to-face and distance model should be encouraged, whenever possible, to improve the experience of patients, relatives and healthcare professionals. No major change of long-acting antipsychotics has been reported in most countries, and there was no consistent evidence for clozapine prescription to increase the risk of COVID-19 infection or severe outcomes.

Title translation COPD, anxiety-depression and cognitive disorders: Does inflammation play a major role?
Abstract COPD is a chronic respiratory disease, often associated with extrapulmonary manifestations. Co-morbidities, including anxiety, depression and cognitive impairment, worsen its progression and quality of life. The prevalence of these disorders is high, yet they are often poorly understood and inadequately managed. In the development of psychological disorders, there is accumulated evidence highlighting the major role of systemic inflammation, as well as chronic disease, genetics, the consequences of smoking, hypoxaemia, oxidative stress, and the gut microbiome In addition to traditional treatments such as bronchodilatator medications, respiratory rehabilitation and smoking cessation, systemic inflammation is an interesting therapeutic target, with the use of anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-cytokines, and nutritional interventions.

Title translation The praise of the leak: a tribute to Henri Laborit (1914-1995).
Abstract Henri Laborit (1914-1995) was a French military MD. He contributed to the discovery of an important molecule that has changed the face of psychiatry, namely chlorpromazine, which became the first drug in the class of first-generation antipsychotics, which later led to the dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia. He did not receive the Nobel Prize for this discovery, unlike Daniel Bovet who get the Nobel Prize for the discovery of antihistaminics. Henri Laborit is also the author of a book that has contributed to the popularization of neurosciences in France, "The Praise of flight" (1976).

Abstract Background: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between different work schedules and self-reported working conditions and health risk behaviours among nurses and nurse assistants (NNA) in France. It hypothesized that work schedules, particularly long shifts, could impact work-life balance, workload, stress levels, burnout, and smoking habits. NNA had the option to work either with a 7-hour schedule, 5 days per week, or with long work schedules consisting of ten to twelve-hour shifts, three days per week. These schedules could potentially influence various aspects of their professional lives.
Methods: The survey followed the guidelines of the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) Statement and was administered to NNA working in public and private national healthcare facilities in France. The researchers used the Job Content Questionnaire to assess the work environment and the French version of the 22-item Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) scale to measure burnout.
Results: A total of 3,133 NNA participated in the study, including 2,369 nurses (75.6%) and 764 nurse assistants (24.4%). Among them, 1,811 individuals (57.8%) followed a 7-hour work schedule, while 1,322 individuals (42.2%) had a long work schedule. Multivariate analyses revealed that NNA working with long schedules reported higher psychological demands, more frequent burnout, a higher number of daily smoked cigarettes, and greater coffee consumption. These findings were independent of other factors such as sector of employment, type of healthcare facility, job status, work schedules, night shifts, department specialty, age, and family responsibilities.
Conclusions: While some NNA may choose long schedules to have more days off, those working with these schedules experience greater work-related burdens and engage in worse health risk behaviours as a coping mechanism. It emphasizes the importance of considering health-promoting work schedules to address the high psychological demands and burnout experienced by NNA with long schedules. Implementing changes in work schedules could potentially improve the overall well-being and job satisfaction of these healthcare professionals.
