Abstract The features of the main models of spiking neurons are discussed in this review. We focus on the dynamical behaviors of five paradigmatic spiking neuron models and present recent literature studies on the topic, classifying the contributions based on the most-studied items. The aim of this review is to provide the reader with fundamental details related to spiking neurons from a dynamical systems point-of-view.

Abstract Background: Knowledge of additional risk factors for thrombotic disease (TD) among dogs with renal proteinuria is limited; these might differ for TD affecting the systemic arterial (AT), systemic venous (VT), and pulmonary circulation (PT).
Hypothesis/objectives: To compare signalment and clinicopathological data between dogs with renal proteinuria with or without TD, and between dogs with AT, VT, and PT.
Animals: One hundred fifty client-owned dogs with renal proteinuria, 50 of which had TD.
Methods: Retrospective case-controlled study. A database search (2004-2021) identified proteinuric dogs (UPC > 2) with and without TD. Clinicopathological data were obtained from the records. TD and non-TD (NTD) groups were compared by binary logistic regression, and AT, VT, and PT groups by multinomial regression. Normal data presented as mean ± SD, non-normal data presented as median [25th, 75th percentiles].
Results: Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were overrepresented in the TD group (OR = 98.8, 95% CI 2.09-4671, P = .02). Compared to NTD cases, TD cases had higher concentration of neutrophils (11.06 [8.92, 16.58] × 10
Conclusions and clinical importance: Differences between thrombus locations could reflect differences in pathogenesis.

Abstract Aim: Duplication of the gallbladder is a very rare congenital variant, showing an incidence of about 1 in 4000 in the population, occurring twice as often in women than in men. In the literature only a few cases of prenatal diagnosis are reported. The knowledge of the existence of this anatomical variable is very important in order to avoid complications and iatrogenic damage during interventional and surgical procedures involving the biliary tract or adjacent organs.
Case report: A 79-year-old patient was admitted to our Hospital in May 2021 presenting abdominal pain. During hospitalization, a 5cm adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon was found. During surgery the known accessory gallbladder was found strongly adhering to the proximal transverse colon. The challenging viscerolysis maneuvers caused a lesion on one of the gallbladders, so we decided to proceed with cholecystectomy of both gallbladders.
Results and discussion: Duplication of the gallbladder is a rare congenital anatomical variant and requires special attention to the biliary and arterial anatomy in order to avoid iatrogenic damage. This variant can complicate surgical treatment for complications that need urgent treatment, such as cholecystitis. Currently the technique of choice for the evaluation of the biliary tree is magnetic resonance cholangiography. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the treatment of choice.
Conclusion: Surgeons should be aware of the different forms of presentation of gallbladder pathologies, also the ones that are not "the standard" of routine. Detailed preoperative study is essential to avoid a missed diagnosis.

Abstract The study of human-machine interaction as a unique control system was one of the first research interests in the engineering field, with almost a century having passed since the first works appeared in this area. At the same time, it is a crucial aspect of the most recent technological developments made in application fields such as collaborative robotics and artificial intelligence. Learning the processes and dynamics underlying human control strategies when interacting with controlled elements or objects of a different nature has been the subject of research in neuroscience, aerospace, robotics, and artificial intelligence. The cross-domain nature of this field of study can cause difficulties in finding a guiding line that links motor control theory, modelling approaches in physiological control systems, and identifying human-machine general control models in manipulative tasks. The discussed models have varying levels of complexity, from the first quasi-linear model in the frequency domain to the successive optimal control model. These models include detailed descriptions of physiologic subsystems and biomechanics. The motivation behind this work is to provide a complete view of the linear models that could be easily handled both in the time domain and in the frequency domain by using a well-established methodology in the classical linear systems and control theory.

Abstract Introduction and importance: Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia is a rare disorder that causes up to 4 % of severe acute gastrointestinal bleeding. It affects elderly females with iron deficiency anemia due to chronic blood loss as a common presenting sign.
Case presentation: We report the case of a 70-year-old man admitted to the Urgency Department for severe asthenia associated with abdominal pain and severe anemia. An urgent upper endoscopic examination showed antral hyperemic streaks and vascular ectasias extending from the pyloric ring to the gastric body as well as signs of recent bleeding. Histological results demonstrated the pathognomonic features of GAVE.
Clinical discussion: The first line treatment is considered argon plasma coagulation (APC), given its wider availability, safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness. In current literature, other therapies and different types of endoscopic treatments have been proposed, such as EBL, RFA and Yag: laser. To date, there is no specific recommendation that privileges one method over another in the treatment of GAVE, although APC has proven effective and even better in terms of complications and costs than the other techniques.
Conclusion: In our experience, endoscopic coagulation with APC probes is a relatively easy-to-use technique with low cost, minimal invasiveness and provides immediate results. On the other hand, a standardized algorithm is also required concerning to the different subtypes to give the best treatment in every case.
