    Abstract Since the 1930s, sulfonamide(SA)-based antibiotics have served as important pharmaceuticals, but their widespread detection in water systems threatens aquatic organisms and human health. Adsorption via graphene, its modified form (graphene oxide, GO), and related nanocomposites is a promising method to remove SAs, owing to the strong and selective surface affinity of graphene/GO with aromatic compounds. However, a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of interaction between the chemical structure of SAs and the GO surface is required to predict the performance of GO-based nanostructured materials to adsorb the individual chemicals making up this large class of pharmaceuticals.     Abstract Background: As China's population ages, the demand for care for the disabled elderly is increasing, and family caregivers find it challenging to meet the comprehensive care needs of the disabled elderly. Through home respite services, families of the disabled elderly can receive help and support from specialized nursing professionals to ease the burden on family caregivers and provide high-quality services. This study explores the willingness and influencing factors of Master of Geriatric Nursing Specialist postgraduates in China to volunteer to provide home respite services for disabled elderly individuals.
    Methods: A qualitative study based on Grounded Theory used Strauss and Corbin's programmatic version. A purposive sampling method was employed to conduct semi-structured interviews with 12 Master of Geriatric Nursing Specialist postgraduates from a tertiary hospital in Changsha, Hunan Province, China.
    Results: The willingness of Master of Geriatric Nursing Specialist postgraduates to volunteer to provide home respite services for the disabled elderly was established as a core category, which was influenced by three main categories: personal factors, service object factors, and social factors, and nine categories formed from 39 initial concepts were included under the main category.
    Conclusions: Influenced by China's traditional cultural background, Master of Geriatric Nursing Specialist postgraduates in China have shown high motivation in volunteering to provide home respite services for the families of the disabled elderly but have been challenged by several challenges from China's healthcare environment and education system. Relevant departments need to adopt a series of policies and measures to increase volunteers' willingness to participate in respite care and promote its development.

    Abstract Background: Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is one of the most common complications after coronary stent implantation due to the extensive development of coronary catheterization technology. Compound Danshen dripping pills (CDDP) are clinically used as cardiovascular drugs, relieving systemic inflammatory response. Previous studies have observed that CDDP can decrease CIN incidence after coronary stent implantation with uncertain effectiveness.
    Methods: We conducted a prospective, randomized, single-center, single-blind, controlled trial. We enrolled patients 18 years and older with unstable angina pectoris and NSTEMI who underwent PCI at the Tianjin Chest Hospital between November 1, 2021, and November 31, 2022, and followed for 30 days. Patients were randomized to CDDP and hydration therapy (10 capsules three times/day;
    Results: After 48 h of operation, the two groups had statistical significance in Scr and BUN values (80.0 ± 12.59 vs. 84.43 ± 13.49,

    Abstract The presence of organic contaminants (OCs) in aquatic systems is a threat to ecological and human health. Adsorption by graphene-based adsorbent is a promising technique for OC removal and we previously fabricated crumpled graphene balls (CGBs), via a novel nano-spray drying technique, which show robust adsorptive performance. Yet, since CGBs contain non-accessible surface area due to 2D graphene stacking, the goal of this research was to investigate the efficacy of maximizing the accessible CGB surface by synthesizing a nanocomposite composed of metal oxide nanoparticles encapsulated by crumpled graphene oxide (MGC).     Abstract Nonphotochemical quenching acts as a frontline response to prevent excitation energy from reaching the photochemical reaction center of photosystem II before photodamage occurs. Strong fluorescence quenching after merely one multi-turnover saturating light pulse characterizes a unique feature of nonphotochemical quenching in red algae. Several mechanisms underlying red algal nonphotochemical quenching have been proposed, yet which process(es) dominantly account for the strong fluorescence quenching is still under discussion. Here we assessed multiple nonphotochemical quenching processes in the extremophilic red alga Cyanidioschyzon merolae under light pulse and continuous illumination conditions. To assess the nonphotochemical quenching processes that might display different kinetics, fluorescence emission spectra at 77 K were measured after different periods of light treatments, and external fluorophores were added for normalization of the fluorescence level. The phycobilisome- and photosystem II-related nonphotochemical quenching processes were distinguished by light preferentially absorbed by phycobilisomes and photosystems, respectively. Multiple nonphotochemical quenching processes, including the energetic decoupling of phycobilisomes from photosystem II, the energy spillover from phycobilisomes to photosystem I and from photosystem II to photosystem I, were identified along with the previously identified intrinsic quenching within photosystem II. The ability to use multiple nonphotochemical quenching processes appears to maximize the light harvesting efficiency for photochemistry and to provide the flexibility of the energy redistribution between photosystem II and photosystem I. The effect of the various ionophores on the nonphotochemical quenching level suggests that nonphotochemical quenching is modulated by transmembrane gradients of protons and other cations.

    Abstract Single-ended resonant converters such as Class-E inverters have been widely considered as a potential topology for small- and medium-power wireless power transfer (WPT) applications, which feature compact circuits, low switching losses, and cost benefits, as they only use a low-side switch with a simple gate driver. However, there remains a practical challenge in the design of voltage stress, efficiency, and power density. In this paper, a single-ended resonant converter with a primary parallel resonant-matching network is investigated to absorb the bulky input-choke inductors of the Class-E inverters into the coil inductance. The analytical expressions for all the converter parameters are derived based on time-domain resonant waveforms, including: (1) analysis of critical zero-voltage switching (ZVS) conditions and (2) power transfer capabilities under the given maximum switch voltage stress. Furthermore, this paper elaborates on the design methodology of the proposed single-ended resonant converters, and an optimal operating point is chosen to ensure soft-switching operation and rated power. Finally, the accuracy of the proposed model is verified by simulation and experimental results.

    Abstract Objective: This study aimed to investigate the expression of HOX transcript antisense intergenic RNA (HOTAIR) in salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) and explore its influence on prognosis.
    Methods: A total of 86 cases of patients with SACC who underwent surgical resection treatment from March 2007 to March 2014 were selected. In the same period, 45 cases of normal salivary gland tissues were obtained. The expression of HOTAIR was detected via real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The patients were followed up after the surgery, and the follow-up deadline was March 31, 2019. The deaths and survival times of patients were recorded. Based on the quartile value of the relative expression level of HOTAIR in SACC patients, the patients were divided into low expression group and high expression group. Kaplan-Meier method and Log-Rank test were used to compare the survival time of the two groups. Taking the age, sex, tumor location, pathological type, tumor diameter, TNM stage, nerve invasion and lymph node metastasis as independent variables, Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to analyze the multiple factors affecting survival time.
    Results: The relative expression of HOTAIR in SACC tissue was 2.48±0.22, which was higher than that in normal salivary gland tissue at 1.03±0.13, and the difference was statistically significant (t=39.812, P<0.001). No nerve invasion and lymph node metastasis were observed in these patients compared with those patients with TNM stages Ⅰ or Ⅱ, while the relative expression of HOTAIR in the tissues of patients with TNM stages Ⅲ or Ⅳ, nerve invasion, and lymph node metastasis increased (P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the average survival time and cumulative survival rate in the low expression group were higher than those in the high expression group [(113.32±10.77) months vs. (59.75±6.50) months and 72.73% vs. 39.06%, respectively, P=0.004]. Cox proportional hazard regression analysis showed that nerve invasion, lymph node metastasis, and the high expression of HOTAIR were the inde-pendent risk factors for the prognosis of patients with SACC (HR=3.274, 2.971, and 2.911, respectively, P<0.05).
    Conclusions: HOTAIR was highly expressed in patients with SACC tissues and associated with poor prognosis. It is a risk factor for prog-nosis, and it is expected to be a potential marker for the prognostic assessment of patients with SACC.
