Abstract Concerns about healthcare affordability have grown in France as physician additional fees have increased threefold in the last 20 years. In this paper, we develop an innovative structural spatial framework to provide new insights into free-billing physician pricing behavior. We empirically test a closed-form solution of a circular city model with heterogeneous physicians by using a unique geolocalized database that covers more than 4000 private practitioners in three specializations (ophthalmology, gynecology and pediatrics). We highlight a positive spatial dependence in prices for all specialties that increases with physician density. This result reflects markets in which both prices are strategic complements and incentives for quality competition are low. We also find evidence of potential noncompetitive behavior for two specialties for which price and competition measures are positively related. These findings in the context of a growing spatial concentration of free-billing physicians emphasize key mechanisms explaining the increasing of additional fees.

Abstract This research aimed to analyze the effects of mixed financing policies from the incorporation of cost-free education in Chilean higher education in the processes of student access and retention (trajectory) and social mobility. Two methods were applied to achieve this aim: monographic research and longitudinal comparative statistical analysis between 2016 and 2021. Different databases were analyzed to evaluate coverage, retention, and social mobility rates. The research used multivariate techniques and the Gini index to measure social mobility. The results showed the transformations that Chilean higher education has experienced in increasing financing, demand, and coverage rates, especially in vulnerable quintiles. The current financing system has positively impacted social mobility and the trajectory of students from the poorest quintiles. This study seeks to contribute to the reflection on the urgency of implementing effective public policies for social progress, safeguarding quality assurance indicators in education as an accurate way of developing a country.

Abstract Introduction: Personalized programs of integrated strength and balance activities have been shown their effectiveness in falls reduction in the older adults.
Objective: To measure whether a group intervention with the strength and balance principles of the sLiFE program is more effective than standard health advice in reducing the incidence of falls.
Methods: The study will comprise 650 participants with more than 65 years who live at home, observing established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Participants will be randomly assigned in two groups: group intervention (
Discussion: Physical activity has been put forward as an effective treatment technique for these patients; however, long-term adherence to these programs remains a challenge. Group interventions could reduce dropout rates.
Conclusion: Falls represent a major health problem globally due to the disability they cause in older people. Prevention would help reduce not only their incidence but also the health costs derived from their treatment. Group intervention helps clinicians to save resources and time, being able to attend more people with the same quality of care.

Abstract Ratios of physical activity and sports participation in people with cerebral palsy (CP) are still low compared with people without a disability. For an adequate and useful practice, physical activity professionals should understand how different types of CP profiles constrain the performance of motor skills that are required during sports practice. This study aims to develop an observation-based assessment tool to evaluate activity limitations in individuals with a moderate level of CP when performing skills requiring jumping, sprinting, change of direction, coordination, and balance. Nineteen observers with different backgrounds from five world regions were recruited for this study, with accredited experience classifying/observing para-athletes with CP. All observers watched videos of 20 international para-athletes with different CP profiles (bilateral spasticity, athetosis/ataxia, unilateral spasticity; all Gross Motor Function Classification System level I) performing 16 motor tasks, and their observations were recorded throughout an ad-hoc data collection instrument. A total of 6080 units of qualitative information were recorded for data analysis. An observation-based tool with qualitative descriptors is derived from data analyses, describing how coordination and balance affected mainly in those with dyskinesia/ataxia, range of movement in those with diplegia, and asymmetries in those with hemiplegia. This tool would help sports practitioners and physical educators to better understand how different CP profiles constrain the performance of motor skills.

Abstract Tabular data is the most common format to publish and exchange structured data online. A clear example is the growing number of open data portals published by all types of public administrations. However, exploitation of these data sources is currently limited to technical people able to programmatically manipulate and digest such data. As an alternative, we propose the use of chatbots to offer a conversational interface to facilitate the exploration of tabular data sources. With our approach, any regular citizen can benefit and leverage them. Moreover, our chatbots are not manually created: instead, they are automatically generated from the data source itself thanks to the instantiation of a configurable collection of conversation patterns.

Abstract In the model yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Trk1 is the main K⁺ importer. It is involved in many important physiological processes, such as the maintenance of ion homeostasis, cell volume, intracellular pH, and plasma‐membrane potential. The ScTrk1 protein can be of great interest to industry, as it was shown that changes in its activity influence ethanol production and tolerance in S. cerevisiae and also cell performance in the presence of organic acids or high ammonium under low K⁺ conditions. Nonconventional yeast species are attracting attention due to their unique properties and as a potential source of genes that encode proteins with unusual characteristics. In this work, we aimed to study and compare Trk proteins from Debaryomyces hansenii, Hortaea werneckii, Kluyveromyces marxianus, and Yarrowia lipolytica, four biotechnologically relevant yeasts that tolerate various extreme environments. Heterologous expression in S. cerevisiae cells lacking the endogenous Trk importers revealed differences in the studied Trk proteins' abilities to support the growth of cells under various cultivation conditions such as low K⁺ or the presence of toxic cations, to reduce plasma‐membrane potential or to take up Rb⁺. Examination of the potential of Trks to support the stress resistance of S. cerevisiae wild‐type strains showed that Y. lipolytica Trk1 is a promising tool for improving cell tolerance to both low K⁺ and high salt and that the overproduction of S. cerevisiae's own Trk1 was the most efficient at improving the growth of cells in the presence of highly toxic Li⁺ ions.

Abstract A growing body of research conducted in general life settings has found positive associations between happiness and prosocial behavior. Unfortunately, equivalent studies in the workplace are lacking. Organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs), the prosocial behaviors at work, have not been properly studied in relation to happiness, despite the positive consequences of both constructs for workers and companies. In response, our research aims to better understand this relationship from several angles. First, using a three-wave longitudinal design, we explored how OCBs and happiness are related to each other over time. Second, happiness was measured from a broad perspective, and three conceptualizations were adopted: the hedonic (e.g., positive affect and life satisfaction), the eudaimonic (e.g., relatedness and autonomy), and the flourishing (e.g., meaning and engagement) approaches. Thus, not only the prospective link between OCBs and happiness was tested, but it was also explored using the three models of happiness previously mentioned. Third, we conducted this longitudinal design in a less typical sample than previous research (i.e., Chile). We found results that supported our main hypotheses: (1) OCBs are prospective positive predictors of hedonic happiness, eudaimonic happiness, and flourishing; (2) the three models of happiness also prospectively predict OCBs. Our findings suggest that OCBs foster a broad range of happiness facets, which in turn fosters back the emergence of more OCBs, leading to a virtuous circle of prosociality and well-being in the workplace. This positive spiral benefits not only workers' quality of life, but also organizations' profitability and sustainability. Theoretical and applied implications for the field of Positive Organizational Psychology are discussed.

Abstract The decisions made by social robots while they fulfill their tasks have a strong influence on their performance. In these contexts, autonomous social robots must exhibit adaptive and social-based behavior to make appropriate decisions and operate correctly in complex and dynamic scenarios. This paper presents a Decision-Making System for social robots working on long-term interactions like cognitive stimulation or entertainment. The Decision-making System employs the robot's sensors, user information, and a biologically inspired module to replicate how human behavior emerges in the robot. Besides, the system personalizes the interaction to maintain the users' engagement while adapting to their features and preferences, overcoming possible interaction limitations. The system evaluation was in terms of usability, performance metrics, and user perceptions. We used the Mini social robot as the device where we integrated the architecture and carried out the experimentation. The usability evaluation consisted of 30 participants interacting with the autonomous robot in 30 min sessions. Then, 19 participants evaluated their perceptions of robot attributes of the Godspeed questionnaire by playing with the robot in 30 min sessions. The participants rated the Decision-making System with excellent usability (81.08 out of 100 points), perceiving the robot as intelligent (4.28 out of 5), animated (4.07 out of 5), and likable (4.16 out of 5). However, they also rated Mini as unsafe (security perceived as 3.15 out of 5), probably because users could not influence the robot's decisions.
