Abstract The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of aqueous solutions of ethanol (25%, v/v) and ascorbic acid (AA, 1%, m/v) alone and in combination, along with modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) or vacuum packaging (VP), on the physicochemical properties and microbial quality of fresh‐cut Chinese yam slices during 4°C storage. The data showed that ethanol (25%, v/v) combined with AA (1%, m/v) and MAP treatment resulted in the lowest changes for headspace gas composition, color, electrical conductivity, overall visual quality, aerobic plate count population, and mold and yeast population in fresh‐cut Chinese yam over 21 days of 4°C cold storage, which was more effective at both inhibiting microbial growth and delaying browning than ethanol or AA alone or a commonly used sanitizer, sodium hypochlorite. The experiment on packaging demonstrated that samples treated with VP and 25% ethanol with 1% (m/v) AA dip can only preserve the sensory qualities of fresh‐cut Chinese yam slices up to 7 days at 4°C, but 25% (v/v) ethanol in conjunction with 1% (m/v) AA packed with MAP had antibrowning potential and maintained the quality of fresh‐cut Chinese yam slices up to 14 days when stored at 4°C.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the impact of clotrimazole suppositories on the distribution of vaginal pathogens and oxidative stress in patients with vaginitis.
Methods: A total of 120 patients with vaginitis were recruited from our hospital between January 2021 and December 2022 and were divided into an observation group and a control group using a random envelope method. The control group received treatment with miconazole tablets alone, while the observation group received combined treatment with miconazole tablets and clotrimazole suppositories. Vaginal secretions were collected from the subjects for pathogenic microbial testing. The clinical efficacy of the patients was evaluated, and indicators related to vaginal microecology and microbial imbalance were examined. Serum levels of IL-8, CRP, TNF-α, IL-6, PCT, P, LH, FSH, SOD, MDA, NO, and ET-1 were measured in the subjects.
Results: Among patients with vaginitis, bacteria, fungi, and gram-negative cocci accounted for a relatively high proportion, with bacterial infections accounting for more than 30% and fungal and gram-negative cocci infections both exceeding 10%. Pathogenic infections such as Chlamydia and Trichomonas were less than 10%. The observation group showed significantly higher clinical efficacy compared to the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < .05). Following treatment, the observation group exhibited significantly lower scores for itching, vaginal discharge, and burning sensation compared to the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < .05). After treatment, the observation group had significantly lower bacterial density and Nugent score, higher cleanliness, positive lactobacilli rate, and pH value compared to the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < .05). After treatment, the observation group demonstrated significantly lower blood levels of IL-8, CRP, TNF-α, IL-6, and PCT compared to the control group, with a statistical significance of P < .05. Similarly, the levels of P, LH, and FSH hormones in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, also with a statistical significance of P < .05. In contrast, the levels of SOD and NO in the observation group were significantly higher, while the levels of MDA and ET-1 were significantly lower compared to the control group, with a statistical significance of P < .05.
Conclusion: Clotrimazole suppositories have been shown to significantly enhance therapeutic outcomes for patients with vaginitis by alleviating inflammation, rebalancing vaginal microecology, regulating hormone secretion, and mitigating oxidative stress.

Abstract Through featuring a historical review of the L2 speaking assessment scales applied in related studies, this paper targets at providing responses for the following three questions (a) How are the scales assessing L2 speaking anxiety developed and adapted in related research? (b) What are the frequently adopted methods for validating speaking anxiety scales? (c) How is L2 speaking anxiety represented and interpreted with a dynamic approach? Based on analyzing the development process of frequently-used scales for assessing test anxiety, foreign language classroom anxiety, and speaking anxiety, the author classified the scales into three categories: test-based scales measuring speaking anxiety, classroom-based scales measuring speaking anxiety, and activity-based scales measuring L2 speaking anxiety. As for the scale validation methods, Classical Testing Theory (CTT) and Rasch measurement were introduced as two major statistical paradigms for guaranteeing the reliability of the scales. This paper also summarizes the emerging themes generalized from research focusing speaking anxiety assessment, where the dynamic approach is discussed as a guideline to interpret the relationship among anxiety, language performance, and other factors involved in language learning. This paper ends with highlighting possible directions for anxiety-related research in the future, where technology intervention and the "positivity ratio" might become new attempts for pedagogical design.

Abstract Investigations into the effects of the pandemic on small businesses remain insufficient, and the role of Fintech during a pandemic has rarely been investigated. Using novel firm-level data on registration and various identifications of fixed-effect and difference-in-difference models, we exploit the interactive effect of lockdown policies and Fintech on the creation of small businesses. First, both lockdown policies and Fintech have negative impacts on new firm creation in the manufacturing sector. Second, lengthier pandemics induce more severe destruction of firm registrations. Third, an alternative indicator shows that Fintech is not intensively related to labor demand in the manufacturing sector. Policy implications call for higher match efficiency between the manufacturing sector and financial resources to reduce financial misallocation to a large extent.

Abstract The implementation of the rural revitalization strategy can effectively inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture and facilitate the comprehensive development of the cultural industry. At present, China is promoting the transformation and upgrading of its industrial structure. The criterion for measuring the "cultural soft power" of a country or region is the competitiveness of its cultural industry. The cultural industry has grown rapidly in recent years, and the overall economic benefits of the industry have also improved, effectively alleviating the employment pressure across the country. However, there are still many problems. How to accurately measure the level of competitiveness of the regional cultural industry and enhance its competitiveness is the first problem in the development of the cultural industry. It finds out the main factors that affect the competitiveness of the cultural industry in the context of rural revitalization strategy using the relevant theories of cultural industry and industrial competitiveness. Besides, the evaluation index system of cultural industry competitiveness is constructed from the perspective of the system. The projection pursuit model and data envelopment analysis model are established based on the genetic algorithm. The model is used to carry out empirical research on the competitiveness level of cultural industry in a region, and conclusions are drawn. The average projected value of the base competitiveness in the region exceeds 0.8. The average projected value of dominant competitiveness exceeds 0.7. The average projected value of potential competitiveness exceeds 1.1. This research proposes corresponding suggestions for the problems in the current growth of the cultural industry in this region through the competitiveness of this region and the level of other areas. This study can also provide some help for the in-depth study of the Chinese cultural industry.
