Title translation Percepción del aborto en alumnado de primer año de la Facultad de Medicina posterior al curso de embriología humana.
Abstract Background: Multiple studies have been recorded regarding the perception of abortion among students in the health area.
Objective: To know if medical-scientific training is sufficient to generate a change in the perception of first-year students of the National Autonomous University of Mexico Faculty of Medicine.
Material and methods: A cross-sectional survey was applied in two times, with the level of relationship between the items of each dimension being analyzed using Cramer's V test. The results were compared to analyze if there was a change in the perception of abortion after the human embryology course.
Results: With an initial population of 2,150 students, 393 pre-course and 394 post-course surveys were conducted. The results indicated that despite the existence of changes in the perception of Faculty of Medicine students with regard to abortion, they are not significant.
Conclusions: The medical-scientific training provided by the human embryology course is not enough to provide foundations to the perception of students on issues such as abortion or conscientious objection.

Title translation Sevoflurane sedation protocol in children with cerebral palsy undergoing botulinum toxin-A injections.
Abstract Objective: This study aimed to describe our experience with a protocol based on sevoflurane sedation to control pain and agitation during botulinum toxin-A (BoNT-A) infiltration in children with cerebral palsy (CP), especially in terms of safety and efficacy.
Material and methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study of patients diagnosed with CP who underwent BoNT-A infiltration with sevoflurane sedation from November 2012 to December 2019. Demographic, clinical and functional characteristics, the effectiveness of sedation, adverse events (AE) and professional satisfaction were reviewed.
Results: A total of 387 sedations were successfully performed in 74 patients. Effective sedation was achieved in 100% of procedures, facilitating collaboration during infiltration and improving professional satisfaction. AE were reported in 6.02% of the procedures, the most frequent being nausea and vomiting (3.88%) and transient hypoxemia (2.07%). There were no severe AE. No association was found between the incidence of AE and the clinical and functional variables or risk before anaesthesia.
Conclusion: Sevoflurane sedation shows promising results in terms of safety and effectiveness for the management of agitation and pain during BoNT-A infiltration in our daily clinical practice. In addition, it can facilitate infiltration, allowing examination under sedation and multilevel infiltration with good tolerance.

Abstract Successful aging depends upon several internal and external factors that influence the overall aging process. Objective and subjective socioeconomic status emerge as potential psychosocial factors in the ethiopathophysiology of aging-related disorders. Presumably, low socioeconomic status can act as a psychosocial stressor that can affect humans' physiology via psychoneuroendocrine mechanisms, that may, in turn, affect the brain physiology. In resting-state electroencephalography (EEG), excess theta and delta activity has been related to cognitive decline and dementia. The main aim of this study was to analyze the effect of objective and subjective socioeconomic status (SES) on cognition and brain electrical activity through EEG measures. The present research constitutes a cross-sectional study with thirty healthy older adults (61-82 years old) separated into two clusters: high socioeconomic (HS) and low socioeconomic (LS) status; they were evaluated and compared in cognitive terms using the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV). An EEG at rest was recorded to measure brain activity and, as an indicator of long-term stress exposure, hair cortisol concentrations (HCC) were measured. Our results show that lower SES is related to a worse performance in working memory tasks (

Abstract Mechanosensory ion channels are proteins that are sensitive to mechanical forces. They are found in tissues throughout the body and play an important role in bone remodeling by sensing changes in mechanical stress and transmitting signals to bone-forming cells. Orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) is a prime example of mechanically induced bone remodeling. However, the cell-specific role of the ion channels Piezo1 and Piezo2 in OTM has not been investigated yet. Here we first identify the expression of PIEZO1/2 in the dentoalveolar hard tissues. Results showed that PIEZO1 was expressed in odontoblasts, osteoblasts, and osteocytes, while PIEZO2 was localized in odontoblasts and cementoblasts. We therefore used a Piezo1

Abstract Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of intramuscular administration of minerals during a TAI program on the reproductive responses of lactating Angus cows. All cows (n=353) were subjected to a 9-day TAI program based on CIDR insertion plus injections of estradiol, cloprostenol, and eCG, and then TAI 48 h later. In experiment 1, two groups were randomly created, one control with a placebo injection (CON, n=109), and the second received 10 mL of Fosfosan® (MIN, n=172) on day 0 of the synchronization. Conception rate (66.9 vs. 55%) and estrus percentage (55.8 vs. 44%) were higher (P≤0.05) in MIN than in CON cows. Given these results, a second experiment was conducted randomly assigning the cows to two treatments (n=36 each): a single injection of 10 mL of Fosfosan® (MIN-O) on day 0 or two injections of 10 mL of Fosfosan® (MIN-T) on synchronization days 0 and 7. Four cows of each treatment were randomly selected to be scanned with transrectal ultrasound before and during the synchronization protocol to assess ovarian structures and cyclicity, and at day 39 post-TAI for pregnancy diagnosis. Also, blood samples were obtained for the determination of serum minerals and progesterone (P
