Abstract Elicitation interviews are where participants are either shown items or asked to bring items to the interview in order to shape the direction of the conversation. This approach is often referred to as being part of 'visual methods'. The chapter focuses in particular on when participants are asked to either bring everyday documents, such as photographs, or when they are asked to create a new document, with both sources serving as a 'topic guide' during interviews, which are directed by the participant. The advantage of this method over many documentary analysis methods is the presence of the author and the ability for the researcher to ask the author questions. This allows us to more easily establish meaning than in participant-absent documentary analysis. A detailed case study is presented of the research that aimed to understand health behaviours, such as smoking and drinking alcohol, during pregnancy. Ten women from deprived areas living on low incomes took part in elicitation interviews. Techniques of elicitation included life-history timelining (drawing a timeline of their life), collaging or using a paper template with thought bubbles to describe what it was like being pregnant, and sandboxing (that is, creating an image or scene using sand and a range of everyday items). Data was analysed using a narrative analysis, which is used to consider change over time. Guidance is provided on how to undertake narrative analysis. The findings highlighted a wide range of barriers and facilitators to abstain from alcohol and smoking during pregnancy, which were related to life circumstances. The key challenges of using such a method, including the ethical implications, are discussed. An exercise with additional data is provided to consolidate learning

Abstract For over a decade and for the foreseeable future, federal agencies have made efforts to promote value-based care through various incentive schemes, such as the recent "Regulatory Sprint to Coordinated Care." Federal incentive schemes and other "macro tailwinds" have brought in private equity investors, especially in the context of primary care for Medicare beneficiaries. Oak Street Health and its private equity backers were pioneers in this space, applying buy-and-build strategies to create "next-generation" primary care networks "that focus largely or entirely on Medicare Advantage enrollees." Although Oak Street Health persuasively established a workable "playbook" for private equity investment in value-based care, and forecasts have been favorable, the ultimate market viability of this value-based playbook hinges on whether or not private equity investors can locate corporate buyers. The market viability of such a strategy has now been reconfirmed by the acquisition of Oak Street Health by CVS Health ("CVS"), announced February 8, 2023, and closed May 2, 2023, especially given that the incentives and the efficiencies associated with this deal are likely to be applicable to large-scale vertically integrated "payvider" corporations more generally. This Recent Transaction Comment examines CVS's acquisition of Oak Street Health to consider what factors might lead vertically integrated health care corporations to acquire value-based primary care networks in the future, and what knock on effects such acquisitions might have on future private equity buyouts in health care.

Abstract Background: The literature regarding the global cerebral blood flow (CBF) in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is divergent leading to skepticism about the significance of blood flow to the disease's underlying pathophysiology.
Methods: The purpose of the current paper is to perform a PRISMA scoping review of the literature describing the CBF in IIH. The review investigated the PUBMED and Scopus data bases looking at case mix, technique and the methodologies employed by the studies selected.
Discussion: Many studies indicate that the flow in IIH is normal but others show the flow to be altered. These later studies show a range of flows from a reduction of 20% to an increase of 50% compared to control values. Obesity is a common finding in IIH and is known to reduce CBF, anemia occurs in approximately 20% of IIH patients and is a potent cause of an increased CBF. Thus, variations in case mix may have a significant effect on the final outcome in those studies which are underpowered. The varying techniques which have been used to estimate CBF have differing strengths and weaknesses which may also have a bearing on the outcome. Some papers have significant confounding methodological issues.
Conclusions: This review suggests each of the variables investigated are responsible for the divergent CBF findings in IIH.
