Abstract The use of drug therapies in patients with chronic venous disease (CVD) remains a topic of debate regarding safety, compliance, and effectiveness. Although the beneficial effects of molecules like diosmin have been established in patients with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) of C3-C6 classes, the evidence for its use in C0-C1 patients is not well documented. This report aims to describe and analyze the positive impact of a new diosmin-based drug therapy on a population of C0-C1 patients in terms of relief of venous symptoms.

Abstract In its heyday, around the mid-twentieth century, psychosomatic medicine was promoted as heralding a new science of body/mind relations that held the promise of transforming medicine as a whole. Sixty years on, the field appears to have achieved no more than a respectable position as a research specialism within the medical status quo. This paper articulates the problematic of psychosomatics through a number of propositions that reconnect its promise of novelty to the present and to contemporary concerns. In contrast to classic approaches to 'psychosomatic problems', which typically set out by denouncing the conceptual inadequacy of mind/body dualism, the focus proposed is on the resilience of dualism as an empirical datum deserving closer analysis. The paper thus asks: what is the character of dualism considered under the aspect of what it achieves, and thus as an expression of value? Drawing on the thought of A N Whitehead, Michel Foucault and Viktor von Weizsäcker, the argument formulates a set of 'psychosomatic problems' informed by the concept of biopolitics and introduces their relevance in relation to the politics of participatory medicine.

Abstract Introduction: Temporary anchorage devices (TADs) represent an essential instrument under difficult anchorage conditions, especially when the procedure is approached with an aligner technique. The objective of this paper is to describe a possible sequence of orthodontic treatment of impacted canines with aligners supported by orthodontic mini-screws.
Materials and methods: The resolution of impacted canines requires a specific clinical sequence constituted by different steps: the space creation, the surgical exposure, and the orthodontic traction (on the horizontal, vertical, and buccal direction). Following this sequence, two different clinical scenarios can be identified following the space available and the initial malocclusion. The first scenario is constituted by recreating the space for the impacted canine along with the correction of the malocclusion by means of an aligner system and then approaching the de-impaction with TADs. The second clinical scenario is related to the canine-first approach, an immediate de-impaction stage based solely on the use of TADs and sectional wires, and then a finishing phase with aligners.
Results: Both approaches to the treatment of impacted canines can be considered reliable, but of course selecting one or the other depends on the space available in the upper arch and on the initial malocclusion.
Conclusions: The use of aligners in the treatment of impacted canines in combination with TADs and sectional wires represents a viable alternative option to the conventional systems for canine disinclusion. When the treatment is managed with the presented approaches, no further cooperation with the patient is required in order to support the forced eruption, and an ideal biomechanical approach can be easily applied with one or two mini-screws.

Title translation Traitement de la classe II avec extraction par aligneurs : une approche fiable
Abstract Aim: Class II extraction approach by means of maxillary first premolars represents a common treatment strategy in order to reduce the overjet and create a stable Class I canine relationship and Class II molar relationship. The objective of this paper is to describe digital planning protocol and complete clinical phases of space closure in Class II malocclusion treatment in adult patient.
Materials and methods: The accuracy of movements and correction of dental parameters has improved exponentially in recent years, as a result of continuous research performed in aligner orthodontics. However, the most complex movement to realize with aligners is the apical movement, but the application of the G6 protocol for managing extractive cases allows to obtain the final parallelism of the roots with a control of the tipping managed on the digital plan as an overcorrection (overtipping) of the roots adjacent to the extraction site. Through the description of two cases, this article will present the application of the specific protocol for first premolars extraction in order to manage anchorage and closure of extraction spaces.
Results: All patients finished with proper OVJ and OVB with a Class II molar relationship and Class I canine relationship respecting face balance and smile arc.
Discussion: The Invisalign G6 protocol through the use of SmartStage™ technology combined with SmartForce™ features provides vertical control during anterior sector retraction and teeth body movement maintaining maximum posterior anchorage.

Abstract This study aims at proof of concept that constant monitoring of the concentrations of metabolites in three individuals' sweat over time can differentiate one from another at any given time, providing investigators and analysts with increased ability and means to individualize this bountiful biological sample. A technique was developed to collect and extract authentic sweat samples from three female volunteers for the analysis of lactate, urea, and L-alanine levels. These samples were collected 21 times over a 40-day period and quantified using a series of bioaffinity-based enzymatic assays with UV-vis spectrophotometric detection. Sweat samples were simultaneously dried, derivatized, and analyzed by a GC-MS technique for comparison. Both UV-vis and GC-MS analysis methods provided a statistically significant MANOVA result, demonstrating that the sum of the three metabolites could differentiate each individual at any given day of the time interval. Expanding upon previous studies, this experiment aims to establish a method of metabolite monitoring as opposed to single-point analyses for application to biometric identification from the skin surface.

Abstract Background: The ideal follow-up of neonates who have a secundum atrial septal defect (ASD), muscular ventricular septal defect (VSD) or patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) remains uncertain.
Methods: Newborns with findings limited to a secundum ASD, muscular VSD and/or PDA on their last birth hospital echocardiogram and at least one outpatient follow-up echocardiogram performed between 9-1-17 and 9-1-21 were evaluated and patient follow-up assessed through 9-1-23.
Results: 95 babies met inclusion criteria. 43 babies had a secundum ASD, 41 had a muscular VSD and 54 had a PDA at newborn hospital discharge. 39/95 had more than one intracardiac shunt. 56 were discharged from care, 26 were still in follow-up and 13 were lost to recommended follow-up.No patients required intervention during the follow-up period of 2 to 6 years. Of those 43 with a secundum ASD 16 (37.2%) had demonstrated closure of the ASD and 13 (30.2%) were discharged from care with and ASD < 3.5 mm in diameter. 3/43 infants with secundum ASD had a defect large enough to easily warrant further follow-up.
Conclusion: Even in this group who had early clinical follow-up recommended by a pediatric cardiologist, no baby discharged from their birth hospitalization with a secundum ASD, muscular VSD or PDA needed any intervention from 2 to 6 years of follow-up. Ongoing follow-up with echocardiography of those infants with a secundum ASD is of greater value than of those with muscular VSD or PDA.
