Abstract The human lifespan has been increasing but will soon reach a plateau. A new direction based on the principal law of lifespan (PLOSP) may enable the human lifespan to be extremely healthy and long by the proper manipulation of the well-defined growing stages of the lifespan. The lifespan of creatures on earth from a single cell to animals can be elongated at different life stages including prenatal development, body growth, reproductivity, and aging. Each life stage has its own specific physiological and metabolic characteristics. Each life stage can be lengthened by either slowing its processes or continuously maintaining the activities of its function. Unfortunately, the current biomedical research on the extension of lifespans has mainly focused on the aging stage. Recognizing and clearly defining the periods of transition and the boundaries of life stages are essential for achieving the goal of long-lived healthy humans based on the PLOSP. The biomedical measures and pharmacological treatments for the extension of lifespans is life-stage-specific. The PLOSP can be tested with modified studies on longevity with a variety of technologies such as castration and ovariectomy. Sex differences in biological functions and the sequential order of the life stages requires different approaches for females and males.

Abstract There are three major changes for the human lifespan in the past half decade: the decreased age of sexual maturity, slight increase in age of menopause/andropause, and a trend of increase in life expectancy. The ages of puberty and menopause are the transitions in life stages, such that early puberty leads to loss and late menopause leads to gain in the lifespan. So far, the strategies for increased lifespan have been largely focused on the postreproductive stage. These approaches are challenging and may at some point reach a plateau. It might be interesting to expand this focus to potentially delaying the puberty and extending the period of body growth, which might yield longer reproductive stages as well as the longer and healthier lifespan.

Abstract In the field of Japanese-Chinese translation linguistics, the issue of correctly translating attributive clauses has persistently proven to be challenging. Present-day machine translation tools often fail to accurately translate attributive clauses from Japanese to Chinese. In light of this, this paper investigates the linguistic problem underlying such difficulties, namely how does the semantic role of the modified noun affect the selection of translation patterns for attributive clauses, from a linguistic perspective. To ad-dress these difficulties, a pre-edit scheme is proposed, which aims to enhance the accuracy of translation. Furthermore, we propose a novel two-step prompt strategy, which combines this pre-edit scheme with ChatGPT, currently the most widely used large language model. This prompt strategy is capable of optimizing translation input in zero-shot scenarios and has been demonstrated to improve the average translation accuracy score by over 35%.

Abstract In this work, we report a density functional theory (DFT) study and a dynamical trajectory study of substituent effects on the ambimodal [6+4]/[4+2] cycloaddition proposed for 1,3,5,10,12-cycloheptadecapentaene, referred to as cycloheptadecapentaene. The proposed cycloaddition proceeds through an ambimodal transition state, which results in both a [6+4] adduct a [4+2] adduct directly. The [6+4] adduct can be readily converted to the [4+2] adduct

Abstract Objective: To investigate the protective effect of PF-562271, a FAK inhibitor, against aging platelet-induced injury in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).
Methods: Cultured HUVECs were treated with vehicle, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), LPS+aging platelets, or LPS+aging platelets+PF-562271. The changes in protein expressions of FAK, pFAK and PECAM-1 in the treated cells were detected using Western blotting and immunofluorescence assay, and the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was detected with flow cytometry. The changes of barrier function of the cells were assessed with cell permeability test and transendothelial cell resistance test. RT-qPCR was used to analyze mRNA expressions of inflammatory factors, and pro-inflammatory cytokine levels in the culture supernatants was determined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Immunofluorescence assay was used to examine the effect of the ROS inhibitor vitamin C on PECAM-1 expression in the cells with different treatments.
Results: Treatment of HUVECs with LPS and aging platelets significantly increased cellular protein expressions of FAK, pFAK and PECAM-1, which were effectively lowered by addition of PF-562271 (
Conclusion: The FAK inhibitor PF-562271 alleviates endothelial cell damage induced by LPS and aging platelets by lowering cellular oxidative stress levels and reducing inflammatory responses.

Abstract The mortality rate of ovarian cancer (OC) is high, posing a serious threat to women's lives. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) show great potential in the treatment of cancer. However, the mechanism of ZnO-NPs in inhibiting the malignant proliferation and chemotherapy resistance of OC has remained elusive. In the present study, ZnO-NPs at different concentrations were used to treat SKOV3 cells, and subsequently, analyses including the Cell Counting Kit-8 assay, EDU staining, colony-formation assay, flow cytometry, wound-healing assay, Transwell assay and western blot were used to detect cell proliferation, invasion, migration, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and chemotherapy resistance, as well as endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS)- and autophagy-related indicators. Finally, the mechanisms of action of ZnO-NPs on OC were examined by adding ERS inhibitor 4-phenylbutyric acid (4-PBA) and autophagy inhibitor 3-methyladenine (3-MA). It was found that ZnO-NPs inhibited SKOV3 cell proliferation, facilitated apoptosis and induced cell cycle arrest. Furthermore, ZnO-NPs inhibited the invasion, migration and EMT of SKOV3 cells. ZnO-NPs also inhibited chemotherapy resistance of SKOV3 cells. ZnO-NPs activated ERS and promoted autophagy. The addition of 4-PBA or 3-MA significantly reversed the effects of ZnO-NPs on SKOV3 cells. Overall, ZnO-NPs inhibit the malignant progression and the chemotherapy resistance of SKOV3 cells by activating ERS and promoting autophagy.

Abstract Objective: In order to improve the compatibility of the hospital resource planning (HRP) system for the whole life cycle of medical consumables, and to improve the management and control capabilities of hospital institutions on medical consumables.
Methods: Based on the traditional HRP system, a secondary development and design of a medical consumables whole life-cycle artificial intelligence module was conducted, and a neural network machine learning algorithm module was introduced to enhance its big data integration and analysis capabilities.
Results: The simulation analysis found that after adding this module, the proportion of minimum inventory, the proportion of procurement cost difference and the expiration rate of consumables all decreased significantly, and the differences were statistically significant (
Conclusions: The whole life cycle module of medical consumables based on HRP system can effectively improve the management efficiency of hospital medical consumables, adjust the warehouse inventory management ability, and improve the overall management level of medical consumables.

Abstract It has been well known that rising/falling pitch is employed to distinguish the rising (R) or falling (F) tones from the high-level (H) tone in Mandarin, but whether F0 range or F0 slope is the more critical F0 cue to perception is still inconclusive. To clarify this issue quantitatively, we took the F tone as the test case, and conducted two-alternative forced choice identification tests on two types of two-dimensional high-level-falling (H-F) tonal continua, one of which was manipulated along F0 range and duration ("F0 range continuum") while the other along F0 slope and duration ("F0 slope continuum"). Experimental results indicated that F0 range was the primary cue because it resulted in a more robust (less duration-dependent) perceptual boundary than F0 slope. Meanwhile, the perceptual boundary in F0 range was not fully independent of but mildly modulated by duration, suggesting that duration (or equivalently, F0 slope) played a supplementary role in identifying the H-F tonal contrast.
