Abstract The studies of the spatial layout and impact mechanism of pollution-intensive industries have become one of the research hot spots for regional sustainable development. From the viewpoint of enterprise dynamics, this study used a spatial econometric model and kernel density analysis methods to analyze the spatial layout characteristics of pollution-intensive industries in the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River (UAMRYR) in 2010, 2015, and 2020, and to explore the reasons for the formation of the spatial divergence of different sub-industries. The results showed that (1) in the past decade, the pollution-intensive industries in the UAMRYR have spatial shift characteristics, basically presenting a “core-edge” pattern from central cities to peripheral cities, and an “agglomeration-diffusion-agglomeration” spatial trend. (2) Different sub-industries had obvious differences in their agglomeration and diffusion trends. The proliferation trend of the non-metallic mineral products industry and the agricultural and sideline foodstuffs processing industry were obvious, which made environmental management difficult. The manufacture of raw chemical materials and chemical products presented the trend of agglomeration, then diffusion, followed by agglomeration, and transferred to areas outside the urban agglomeration, which reduced the pollution to the environment to a certain extent. The spatial pattern of the electricity, heating power production and supply industry were relatively stable, with little overall change. (3) The spatial layout of pollution-intensive industries was mostly driven by the level of economic development and the degree of industrial agglomeration. Innovation capacity and labor cost promoted the spatial diffusion of industries, and the degree of trade openness intensified the agglomeration of pollution-intensive industries in space. The results of the study provided a more microscopic perspective for understanding the changes in the spatial pattern of pollution-intensive ...

Abstract The research studies describe that students utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT) widely to improve their academic performance. In the classroom, students use ICT assistive technologies via laptops and smartphones for academic and non-academic activities. The ICT tool interactions are applied to developing an effective learning environment that is used to support the student’s learning and understanding in a specific context. The utilization of ICT motivates the students to utilize the technologies in the classroom environment. The ICT training policies help resolve the fundamental issues that students come across, particularly high school students going to college. However, most students do not know enough about their major tendencies and feel lost when deciding on a major. Our study aimed to apply ICT biographical data as a tool for major selection. Based on the rationale of psychometrics and valuable evidence, some studies show that the average high school score is the best predictor of the average college score. The biographical data prediction method is the pre-university life history of students of different majors. Compiling questionnaires takes the college academic performance of students as the studying criterion and weights projects on the biographical data table to develop college students’ biographical information blank and its norm system to provide services for student’s choice of major. Various results show that biographical information blank items are diverse, and the impurity of the content may lead to low internal reliability (α coefficient is usually between 0.60 and 0.80) but a high test–retest validity coefficient (usually between 0 and 0.90). In contrast, its validity has predictive validity because it is independent of each score. Furthermore, since biographical information blanks comprise verifiable and unverifiable items, the ideal subjects answered more reliably because they were accountable for their responses. Studies show that the description of individual life ...

Abstract The goal of this paper is to provide a bibliometric analysis of scientific publications that employ text mining in management. To accomplish this, the authors collected 1282 documents from the Web of Science and performed performance analysis and science mapping with the help of the Bibliometrix package in Rstudio. The performance analysis used a range of bibliometric indicators such as productivity, citations, h-index, and m-quotient, in order to identify research trends and the most influential journals, authors, countries, and literature in the study. Science mapping used author keywords co-occurrence, co-authorship, and co-citation analysis to reflect the conceptual, social, and intellectual structure of the research. Specifically, we have seen an exponential increase in the use of text mining in management in recent years. The United States is the dominant country for research, having the earliest studies and the highest number of literature and citations. Furthermore, the research themes showed that topic modeling is at the forefront of current text mining research about management. This study will help scholars and management practitioners interested in the intersection of text mining and management to quickly understand the latest advances in research.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to examine the push (i.e., socio-motivation) and pull (i.e., ski resort attribute preference) factors influencing the level of participation of leisure skiing in China. Leisure skiers ( N = 300) from a major ski resort in China participated in this study. Based on a comprehensive review of the literature and a test of content validity, a survey questionnaire was formulated to measure push and pull variables, demographic information, and ski resort participation frequency. Conducting multiple regression analyses to discover the relationship between push factors and skiing frequency, the escape factor was found to be influencing the skiing frequency most significantly ( p < .05). Four pull factors including sceneries, condition of slopes and snow, training course feature, and cost showed different demand when the demographic backgrounds of participants were taken into consideration (i.e., gender, age, skiing frequency). Discussions are centered on the theoretical and managerial implications on procedures of pushing and pulling consumers to ski resorts at large and increasing skiing participation in China.
