Abstract The triangulated irregular network (TIN) clipping algorithm is one of the vital algorithms for the digital mining design of opencast coal mines based on the geological digital elevation model (DEM) described by TIN. This paper gives a precise TIN clipping algorithm applied in the digital mining design of the opencast coal mine. To improve the algorithm's efficiency, a spatial grid index is built and utilized to embed the Clipping Polygon (CP) into the Clipped TIN (CTIN) by interpolating the CP's vertices' elevation and solving the intersections of the CP and the CTIN. After that, the topology of the triangles situated within (outside of) the CP is reconstructed, and then the boundary polygon of those triangles is obtained based on the reconstructed topology. Finally, a new boundary TIN between the CP and the boundary polygon of the triangles situated within (outside of) the CP is generated by applying the one-time edge-prior constrained Delaunay triangulation (CDT) growth algorithm, and the TIN to be clipped out is separated from the CTIN by topology modification. At that point, CTIN clipping is accomplished with the local details remaining. The algorithm has been programmed in C# and.NET. Additionally, it is also applied to the opencast coal mine digital mining design practice, and it is robust and highly efficient.

Abstract Abstract Reasonable production capacity is related to the economic benefits of an open-pit coal mine. This study analyzes the relationship between the working face length, the annual advancing speed and the production capacity. It constructs a production capacity function relationship model. Take the Baorixile open-pit coal mine as an example. The remaining unmined parts are divided into four regions, and the range of production capacity in each region is analyzed by the established model and the determined respectively. On this basis, three mining district division plans are proposed. By analyzing and comparing the stripping ratio, mining life of the district, fault influence, difficulty of transition connection in the mining districts, the convenience of transportation system layout and other indexes of each plan, Plan 3 is determined to be the optimal plan. The production capacity planning results of each mining district in this plan are as follows: the production capacity of the 3rd mining district is 30–35 Mt/a; the production capacity of the 4th mining district in Region 1 is 20–31 Mt/a, and the production capacity in Region 2 is 24–33 Mt/a; the production capacity of the 5th mining district is 20–27 Mt/a.

Abstract The accuracy of point cloud processing results is greatly dependent on the determination of the voxel size and shape during the point cloud voxelization process. Previous studies predominantly set voxel sizes based on point cloud density or the size of ground objects. Voxels are mostly considered square in shape by default. However, conventional square voxels are not applicable to all surfaces. This study proposes a method of using cuboid voxels to extract urban road boundary points using curb points as road boundary points. In comparison with conventional cubic voxels, cuboid voxels reduce the probability of mixed voxels at the road curb, highlight two geometric features of road curb voxels (i.e., normal vector and distribution dimension), and improve the accuracy of road curb point extraction. In this study, ground points were obtained using cloth simulation filtering. First, the cuboid-based voxelization of ground points was performed. Then, taking the voxel as a unit, two geometric features, namely, the normal vector of the voxel and the linear dimension of the point distribution in the voxel, were calculated. According to these geometric features, the voxels that met the conditions were regarded as candidate road curb voxels, and the points in them as candidate road curb points. Afterward, filtering was applied using the intensity value to eliminate the bottom points of fences, street trees, and other ground objects in the candidate road curb points. Finally, noise points were eliminated according to the clustering results of the density based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) algorithm. In this study, point cloud data obtained by the SSW vehicle-mounted mobile mapping system and three-point cloud datasets in the IQmulus & TerraMobilita competition dataset were used to experimentally extract road curbs. Results showed that this method could effectively extract road curb points as the precision of the four groups of data results was over 90% and the quality coefficient reached over ...

Abstract Abstract The transport truck is one of the important equipment for open-pit mines, and predicting the truck's fault time is of great significance in improving the economic benefits of open-pit mines. In this paper, we discuss the reason for the large prediction error of the exponential smoothing method. Then, we propose a novel nonlinear exponential smoothing method (ESNN) for predicting the truck's fault time, and demonstrate the equivalence between our approach and the neural network structure. Finally, based on the augmented Lagrange function, the solving method of ESNN is proposed. We conduct experiments on real-world datasets and our results demonstrate the effectiveness of ESNN in comparison to existing state-of-the-art methods. Our approach makes it easier for maintenance personnel to predict fault situations in advance and provides a basis for enterprises to develop preventive maintenance plans.

Abstract As one of the most important components of the innate immune system, neutrophils are always at the forefront of the response to diseases. The immune functions of neutrophils include phagocytosis, degranulation, production of reactive oxygen species, and the production of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). NETs are composed of deconcentrated chromatin DNA, histones, myeloperoxidase (MPO) and neutrophil elastase (NE), playing an important role in the resistance to some pathogenic microbial invasions. Until recent years, when NETs were found to play a critical role in cancer. NETs play bidirectional regulation both positive and negative roles in the development and progression of cancer. Targeted NETs may provide new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of cancer. However, the molecular and cellular regulatory mechanisms underlying the formation and role of NET in cancer remain unclear. This review just summarizes the recent progress in regulatory mechanisms about the formation of NETs and their role in cancers.

Abstract Abstract To address the problem of excessive local secondary stripping between adjacent mining areas in open pit mines caused by internal row raising, a multivariate function was fitted to the model of the main mining seam of Zhundong open pit coal mine in Xinjiang, and the different locations of the end gang of the second mining area were divided into multiple sections at certain step sizes and calculated by integration, resulting in stripping ratios for each section, which were fitted to a stripping ratio curve. The optimal location of the mining area boundary was found to be 55 m westward offset from the mining area boundary in the inner row of the raised section, and numerical simulations based on the strength reduction method were applied to analyse the slope stability of the end gang at this location. The results of the study show that the analysed slope meets the stability requirements and the optimised new boundary avoids the stripping of approximately 65,837,376 m3 of economically unreasonable section.

Abstract To investigate the seismic response of layered rock sites, a multidomain analysis method was proposed. Three finite element models with infinite element boundaries for layered sites were analysed. The results of this multidomain analysis show that stratum properties and elevation have an impact on wave propagation characteristics and the dynamic response of layered sites. Compared with the rock mass, the overlying gravel soil has a greater dynamic amplification effect at the sites. A time domain analysis parameter PGA (IMF) was proposed to analyse the effects of different strata on the seismic magnification effect of layered sites, and its application was also discussed in comparison with PGA. According to the frequency domain analysis, the interface of the rock mass strata has a low impact on the Fourier spectrum characteristics of the sites, but gravel soil has a great magnification effect on the spectrum amplitude in the high-frequency band (≥30 Hz) of waves. Moreover, the stratum properties have a great influence on the shape and peak value of the Hilbert energy and marginal spectrum at layered sites. When waves propagate from hard rock to soft rock, the peak value of the Hilbert energy spectrum changes from single to multiple peaks; then, in gravelly soil, the Hilbert energy spectral peak, its nearby amplitude and the amplitude in the high-frequency band (28–36 Hz) are obviously amplified. The frequency components and amplitude of the marginal spectrum become more abundant and larger from rock to gravelly soil in the high-frequency band (28–35 Hz).

Abstract Abstract Abstract In this study, we present the coordination development schemes of mining and dumping engineering in steeper anticline region of an open-pit coal mine with nearly flat coal seam. Steeper anticlines in an open-pit coal mine with a nearly flat coal seam lead to drastic changes in local geological features and have many adverse effects on safe, economical, and efficient production. Based on an impact analysis of the anticline on the production quantity and quality of coal, release and utilization of the internal dumping space, layout of the haulage system and so on, the key technical solutions related to mining and dumping engineering coordination development in the steeper anticline region are discussed. Subsequently, taking the Antaibao Open-pit Coal Mine as a case study, based on the geological features of the steeper anticline region, two mining and dumping engineering coordination development schemes, the northern priority development scheme and the pseudo-longitudinal mining scheme, are proposed. Key technical parameters including the length and preceding distance of the priority development working-line, preceding distance and the horizontal advancing speed of the mining working line are determined. To compare the two proposed schemes in detail, the mining and dumping coordination development plans of the two proposed schemes during mining over the steeper anticline region are worked out, and some technical indices are computed. Using the six selected key indices, a multi-index comprehensive evaluation model based on CRITIC-TOPSIS is established to evaluate the two schemes. The evaluation results show that the northern priority development scheme is better than the pseudo-longitudinal mining scheme. Article Highlights The impact of steeper anticline on production of open-pit coal mine with nearly flat coal seam is analyzed, including: production quantity and quality of coal, release and utilization of internal dumping space, transportation distance and cost, etc. According to the geological ...

Abstract AbstractCoal seam mining causes movement and deformation of the overlying rock mass and ground surface, directly resulting in serious damage to the surface construction facilities. To investigate the deformation mechanism and characteristics of the overlying rock mass, three-dimensional numerical simulation and model test are carried out on an open-pit mine slope. The results show that the sliding instability characteristics of the slope can be identified based on the numerical analysis. Coal mining affects on the deformation characteristics of the overlying rock mass near the inner dump. The closer to the slope boundary, the greater the subsidence of overlying rock mass. The maximum displacement occurs near the inner dump. The slope mining has great influence on the deformation characteristics of inner dump. Moreover, the damage process of overlying rock mass can be further studied via the model test. After coal seams mining out, the overlying rock mass occurs overall settlement failure. There is a large difference between the lower end side of working face and the upper end side at the caving angle of roof. This work can provide a basis for the safe operation of coal mine disaster prevention and mitigation.
