    Abstract Abstract The unprecedented growth in voice assistants (VAs) provided with artificial intelligence (AI) challenges managers aiming to harness various new technologies to enhance the competitiveness of their products. This article thus investigates how VAs can more effectively improve the user experience by focusing on the attributes of service contexts, matching a utilitarian-dominant (hedonic-dominant) context with concrete (abstract) language in VA–human interactions. Through such matching, VA companies can potentially create a beneficial congruity effect, leading to more favorable evaluations. The results of three studies therefore suggest that users prefer VAs with abstract language in a hedonic-dominant service context, but that VAs with concrete language are more competitive in a utilitarian-dominant service context. Furthermore, the perception of processing fluency mediates this effect. Accordingly, these findings provide a better understanding of AI–human interactions and open a straightforward path for managers or technology providers to enhance users’ continuous usage intention.

    Abstract Conductive anticorrosive coatings were prepared by using Eucommia Ulmoides gum(EUG)and epoxy resin (E-51) as matrix and carbon nanotubes (CNT) as conductive filler. The effects of EUG amount on corrosion resistance and electrical conductivity of the coating were investigated. The thermal properties of the composite coating were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic thermomechanical, and the conductivity of the composite coating was tested by a four-probe tester, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, salt spray test and adhesion were used to characterize the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the composite coating. The results showed that when the EUG amount was 8 phr, the conductivity of the coating film of the conductive anticorrosive coating prepared by this method reached 0.083 s/cm, and the electrochemical impedance was about 9×107 Ω·cm2. EUG had good compatibility with E-51, and the addition of EUG could improve the corrosion resistance and conductivity of the coating.

    Abstract Using an established human primary cell culture model, we previously demonstrated that the promyelocytic leukemia zinc finger (PLZF) transcription factor is a direct target of the progesterone receptor (PGR) and is essential for progestin-dependent decidualization of human endometrial stromal cells (HESCs). These in vitro findings were supported by immunohistochemical analysis of human endometrial tissue biopsies, which showed that the strongest immunoreactivity for endometrial PLZF is detected during the progesterone (P4)-dominant secretory phase of the menstrual cycle. While these human studies provided critical clinical support for the important role of PLZF in P4-dependent HESC decidualization, functional validation in vivo was not possible due to the absence of suitable animal models.     Abstract Ectopic thyroid is a rare malformation induced by a migration defect in the developing gland during embryogenesis. In 90% of cases, the ectopic thyroid is located in the lingual region, whereas it is extremely rare in the abdominal cavity, particularly in the pancreas. A 50-year-old female patient presented to the Taizhou First People's Hospital with a complaint of recurrent mid-lower abdominal pain and diarrhea for approximately a month. The abdominal computed tomography scan revealed a space-occupying lesion with abundant blood supply in the head of the pancreas during the consultation. This led to the suspicion of a neuroendocrine tumor. The doctor considered that this lesion in the head of the pancreas could be responsible for the patient's incontinence. A laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy was performed after relevant tests were undertaken and contraindications were ruled out. The patient was diagnosed with ectopic thyroid of the pancreas through postoperative pathology. Ectopic thyroid can be considered in middle-aged and elderly women who present with a mass with abundant blood supply and an unknown diagnosis. Subsequent treatments should be decided after fine-needle aspiration cytology.

    Abstract With the rapid development of biomaterials and biotechnologies, various functional materials-based drug delivery systems (DDS) are developed to overcome the limitations of traditional drug release formulations, such as uncontrollable drug concentration in target organs/tissues and unavoidable adverse reactions. Polymer nanofibers exhibit promising characteristics including easy preparation, adjustable features of wettability and elasticity, tailored surface and interface properties, and surface-to-volume ratio, and are used to develop new DDS. Different kinds of drugs can be incorporated into the polymer nanofibers. Additionally, their release kinetics can be modulated via the preparation components, component proportions, and preparation processes, enabling their applications in several fields. A timely and comprehensive summary of polymeric nanofibers for DDS is thus highly needed. This review first describes the common methods for polymer nanofiber fabrication, followed by introducing controlled techniques for drug loading into and release from polymer nanofibers. Thus, the applications of polymer nanofibers in drug delivery were summarized, particularly focusing on the relation between the physiochemical properties of polymeric nanofibers and their DDS performance. It is ended by listing future perspectives. Graphical abstract.

    Abstract With advances in remote sensing, massive amounts of remotely sensed data can be harnessed to support land use/land cover (LULC) change studies over larger scales and longer terms. However, a big challenge is missing data as a result of poor weather conditions and possible sensor malfunctions during image data collection. In this study, cloud-based and open source distributed frameworks that used Apache Spark and Apache Giraph were used to build an integrated infrastructure to fill data gaps within a large-area LULC dataset. Data mining techniques (k-medoids clustering and quadratic discriminant analysis) were applied to facilitate sub-space analyses. Ancillary environmental and socioeconomic conditions were integrated to support localized model training. Multi-temporal transition probability matrices were deployed in a graph-based Markov–cellular automata simulator to fill in missing data. A comprehensive dataset for Inner Mongolia, China, from 2000 to 2016 was used to assess the feasibility, accuracy, and performance of this gap-filling approach. The result is a cloud-based distributed Markov–cellular automata framework that exploits the scalability and high performance of cloud computing while also achieving high accuracy when filling data gaps common in longer-term LULC studies.

    Abstract IntroductionUrbanization converts vegetated lands into impervious surfaces and often degrades vegetation carbon sequestration in urban ecosystems. At the same time, the impact on urban vegetation growth from urban expansion could be spatially diverse given different natural environments and urban management practices.MethodsHere we applied time-series remotely sensed images and analyzed the urban growth for all the prefecture-level cities across China during 2001–2019, and compared the impact of urbanization on vegetation carbon uptake proxied by MODIS (MOD17A2H) net primary productivity (NPP) on Google Earth Engine platform.ResultsThe result indicated that at the national scale, the carbon uptake flux in urban areas was only 19% compared to that in the nonurban vegetated counterparts. The total urban area expanded by 22% and the vegetation carbon uptake in the newly urbanized zones was averagely reduced by 16% during the period, but with high spatio-temporal heterogeneity among cities and with exceptions demonstrating even improved NPP, highlighting diversified responses of vegetation carbon sequestration to urban sprawl. The changes of vegetation carbon sequestration in response to urbanization were found to be spatially clustered.DiscussionWe conclude that urban land management strategies unique to cities may attribute to the diversified responses of vegetation carbon capture to urbanization.

    Abstract Background: Several studies have reported the prognostic value of ultrasound elastography (UE) in patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) for breast cancer. However, the assessment of parameters differed between shear-wave elastography and strain elastography in terms of measured elasticity parameter and mode of imaging. It is important, therefore, to assess the accuracy of the two modes of elastography.
    Aim: To assess the accuracy of UE for predicting the pathologic complete response (pCR) in breast cancer patients following NACT.
    Methods: A comprehensive and systematic search was performed in the databases of MEDLINE, EMBASE, SCOPUS, PubMed Central, CINAHL, Web of Science and Cochrane library from inception until December 2020. Meta-analysis was performed using STATA software "Midas" package.
    Results: A total of 14 studies with 989 patients were included. The pooled sensitivities were 86% [95% confidence interval (CI): 76%-92%] for UE, 77% (95%CI: 68%-84%) for shear-wave elastography, and 92% (95%CI: 73%-98%) for strain-wave elastography. The pooled score specificities were 86% (95%CI: 80%-90%) for UE, 84% (95%CI: 72%-91%) for shear-wave elasticity, and 87% (95%CI: 81%-92%) for strain-wave elastography.     Conclusion: Strain-wave type of UE can accurately predict the pCR following NACT amongst breast cancer patients. Studies exploring its accuracy in different ethnic populations are required to strengthen the evidence.
