    Abstract ● Investigate the actual situation of food waste at university canteens in Beijing, China. ● Analyze the influential factors of student food-waste behavior in university canteens. ● Construct the theoretical model of the factors influencing food waste behavior based on the theory of planned behavior. ● Measure the path coefficients of psychological factors, individual characteristics, and dining factors to food waste behavior. ● Suggest some measures to reduce and prevent food waste at university canteens. Food waste is a major social problem that contributes to the overutilization of natural resources, affecting economic progress and environmental protection. Food waste occurs throughout the whole process of the food supply chain, especially during the consumption stage. As a special group of consumers, the emerging adults at university may have unique food consumption patterns and their food waste behavior in university canteens deserves more attention. To understand the influential factors of the food-waste behavior of students in university canteens, a field survey was conducted at China Agricultural University canteen with 705 respondents. Based on the theory of planned behavior, this paper examines the influencing factors of student food-waste behavior from three dimensions: sociopsychological factors, individual characteristics and dining factors. The results indicate that the percentage of students who waste food is relatively low, at roughly 27%. Perceived behavior control, gender, monthly living expenses, BMI, mealtime, meal expectations and food portion were significantly correlated with student food-waste behavior, among which perceived behavior control had the most prominent correlation, followed by food portion. Behavioral intention, household location and palatability were not significantly correlated with student food-waste behavior.     Abstract After the acidic copper-contained sewage incident of Zijin Mining Co. Ltd, environmental protection is a concern by society and the Chinese government. The corporate environmental performance is necessary to be improved. Among external factors, this study explores the mechanism of media attention. This study examines the impact of media attention on corporate environmental performance with the exogenous shock of the Environmental Protection Law of 2015 in China using the A-share listed firms from 2011 to 2018. The results show that media attention significantly improves corporate environmental performance. There is a substitution effect between implementing the 2015 Environmental Protection Law and the media attention on corporate environmental performance. Moreover, such a substitution effect is more significant for firms with high-quality internal control and firms with a low degree of industry competitiveness. This study's results have some important implications for motivating firms to take environmental responsibility and filling in the existing literature.

    Abstract This paper presents a zeta/flyback hybrid converter with a PV array as its power source for an LED street light or digital signage application. When the PV array is used in a LED lighting system, it needs a battery charger and discharger. In order to increase the areas of application for different PV arrays, a zeta converter has been adopted as the battery charger. In addition, since a flyback converter has a simpler circuit, it is used as the battery discharger. Due to the leakage inductor of the transformer in the flyback converter, an active clamp circuit is used to recover the energy stored in leakage inductance. Zeta and flyback converters use switch integration techniques to form the proposed zeta/flyback hybrid converter. With this approach, the proposed system has less components, a lighter weight, a smaller size, and higher conversion efficiency. Finally, a prototype of the proposed hybrid converter with an output voltage of 12 V and output power of 50 W has been implemented to verify its feasibility. It is suitable for LED lighting system applications.

    Abstract Metal-free catalysts are made by the elements with infinite reserve in nature and, therefore, show the potential for large-scale applications in energy devices including metal-air batteries. The construction of metal-air batteries prefers using self-supporting catalysts with favorable activity as well as fast kinetics. However, it is challenging due to the limited electropositivity of metal-free catalysts for O-O bond formation in oxygen evolution reaction (OER), scaling relationship restrictions between OER and oxygen reduction reaction, and difficulty in porosity construction on the monolith electrode surface. In this contribution, through developing a facile methodology of quenching high-temperature carbon clothes in liquid nitrogen, a self-supported carbon cloth with bifunctional active graphene skin and fast kinetics is well constructed to serve as the air cathode in metal-air batteries. Regulated oxygen species and three-dimensionally hierarchical porosity are well constructed on the carbon fiber surfaces, contributing high intrinsic activity and prominently enhanced kinetics, which leads to favorable performances in aqueous as well as flexible rechargeable zinc-air batteries. The work proposed a promising strategy in the rational design and smart synthesis of fast-kinetic monolith electrodes, which refreshes concepts and strategies of advanced material fabrication, and also bridges material science and practical energy devices.

    Abstract Three-dimensional (3D) image reconstruction is an important field of computer vision for restoring the 3D geometry of a given scene. Due to the demand for large amounts of memory, prevalent methods of 3D reconstruction yield inaccurate results, because of which the highly accuracy reconstruction of a scene remains an outstanding challenge. This study proposes a cascaded depth residual inference network, called DRI-MVSNet, that uses a cross-view similarity-based feature map fusion module for residual inference. It involves three improvements. First, a combined module is used for processing channel-related and spatial information to capture the relevant contextual information and improve feature representation. It combines the channel attention mechanism and spatial pooling networks. Second, a cross-view similarity-based feature map fusion module is proposed that learns the similarity between pairs of pixel in each source and reference image at planes of different depths along the frustum of the reference camera. Third, a deep, multi-stage residual prediction module is designed to generate a high-precision depth map that uses a non-uniform depth sampling strategy to construct hypothetical depth planes. The results of extensive experiments show that DRI-MVSNet delivers competitive performance on the DTU and the Tanks & Temples datasets, and the accuracy and completeness of the point cloud reconstructed by it are significantly superior to those of state-of-the-art benchmarks.

    Abstract Particulate Matter (PM) is an important indicator of the degree of air pollution. The PM type and the ratio of coarse and fine PM particles determine the ability to affect human health and atmospheric processes. Using the observation data across the country from 2015 to 2018, this study investigates the distribution and proportion of PM2.5 and PM10 at different temporal and spatial scales in mainland China; clarifies the PM2.5, PM10 and PM2.5/PM10 ratios interrelation; and classifies the dust, mixed, and anthropogenic type aerosol. It shows that the annual average concentration of PM2.5 and PM10 decreased by 10.55 and 8.78 μg m−3 in 4 years. PM2.5, PM10, and PM2.5/PM10 ratios show obvious while different seasonal variations. PM2.5 is high in winter and low in summer, while PM10 is high in winter and spring, and low in summer and autumn. Differently, the PM2.5/PM10 ratios are the highest in winter, and the lowest in spring. PM2.5/PM10 ratios show strong independence on PM2.5 and PM10, implying that it can provide extra information about the aerosol pollution such as aerosol type. A classification method about air pollution types is then further proposed based on probability distribution function (PDF) morphology of PM2.5/PM10 ratios. The results show that dust type mainly lies in the west of Hu-Line, mixed type pollution distributes near Hu-Line, and the anthropogenic type dominates over North China Plain and cities in southern China. The results provide insights into China’s future clean air policy making and environmental research.

    Abstract Sarcopenia is a progressive systemic skeletal muscle disorder characterized by a pathological decline in muscle strength, quantity, and quality, which frequently affects the elderly population. The majority of cancer patients are of advanced age. Patients may already have sarcopenia prior to cancer development, and those with cancer are prone to developing sarcopenia due to hypercatabolism, inflammation, reduced physical fitness, anorexia, adverse effects, and stress associated with anticancer therapy. Based on the timing, sarcopenia in patients with cancer can be categorized into three: pre-existing sarcopenia before the onset of cancer, sarcopenia related to cancer, and sarcopenia related to cancer treatment. Sarcopenia not only changes the body composition of patients with cancer but also increases the incidence of postoperative complications, reduces therapeutic efficacy, impairs quality of life, and results in shortened survival. Different therapeutic strategies are required to match the cancer status and physical condition of patients with different etiologies and stages of sarcopenia. Here, we present a comprehensive review of the epidemiology and diagnosis of sarcopenia in patients with cancer, elucidate the complex interactions between cancer and sarcopenia, and provide evidence-based strategies for sarcopenia management in these patients.

    Abstract Platycarya strobilacea belongs to the walnut family (Juglandaceae), is commonly known as species endemic to East Asia, and is an ecologically important, wind pollinated, woody deciduous tree. To facilitate this ancient tree for the ecological value and conservation of this ancient tree, we report a new high-quality genome assembly of P. strobilacea. The genome size was 677.30 Mb, with a scaffold N50 size of 45,791,698 bp, and 98.43% of the assembly was anchored to 15 chromosomes. We annotated 32,246 protein-coding genes in the genome, of which 96.30% were functionally annotated in six databases. This new high-quality assembly of P. strobilacea provide valuable resource for the phylogenetic and evolutionary analysis of the walnut family and angiosperm.
