    Abstract Background: Low-quality sleep and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can result in series of chronic diseases. Healthy diet has been considered as an effective and simple strategy to optimize sleep quality. However, current evidence on the correlation of dietary composite antioxidant intake with sleep health remained obscure.
    Aim of the study: To determine the relationship of composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) and sleep health.
    Methods: Cross-sectional analyses were based on National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2005-2008. Dietary consumption was assessed by trained staff using 24-h diet recall method and CDAI was calculated based on previous validated approach that included six antioxidants. Sleep-related outcomes were self-reported by a set of questionnaires and classified into OSA, day sleepiness, and insufficient sleep. Weighted logistic regression was conducted to calculate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Restricted cubic spline (RCS) regressions were also used to evaluate the dose-response of CDAI and three sleep-related outcomes.
    Results: A total of 7274 subjects included (mean age: 46.97 years) were enrolled in our study, including 3658 were females (52.54%) and 3616 were males (47.46%). Of them, 70.6%, 29.51%, and 35.57% of the subjects reported that they had OSA, day sleepiness and insufficient sleep, respectively. Logistic regression showed the highest quartile of CDAI was inversely associated with the risk of OSA (OR: 0.69, 95%CI: 0.49-0.97), day sleepiness (OR: 0.64, 95%CI: 0.44-0.94) and insufficient sleep (OR: 0.68, 95%CI: 0.50-0.92) compared with the lowest quartile. RCS showed linear relationship of CDAI and insufficient sleep but non-linear relationship of CDAI with OSA and day sleepiness.
    Conclusions: Our results show that CDAI was non-linearly associated with lower risk of OSA and day sleepiness whereas a linear inverse association between CDAI and insufficient sleep was observed. These findings implicate that combined intake of antioxidants could be a promising and effective approach to optimize sleep quality for public.

    Abstract The role of endothelial cells in Acute lung injury (ALI) has been widely elaborated, but little is known about the role of different subtypes of endothelial cells in ALI. ALI models were established by lipopolysaccharide. Single-cell RNA sequencing was used to identify differential molecules in endothelial subtypes and heterogeneity of lung immune cells. Specific antibodies were used to block IGFBP7 protein, and AAVshIGP7 was used to specifically knock down IGFBP7. Here, we found that Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) was the most differentially expressed molecule in diverse subsets of endothelial cells and that IGFBP7 was strongly associated with inflammatory responses. Elevated IGFBP7 significantly exacerbated barrier dysfunction in ALI, whereas blockade of IGFBP7 partially reversed barrier damage.     Abstract Background: Scientific and effective nursing methods can effectively mitigate negative emotions in patients. Related studies have shown that systematic nursing interventions are beneficial in enhancing the self-efficacy and self-care abilities of patients and improving their physical and mental state, thereby alleviating their fatigue and improving their quality of life.
    Aim: To explore the effects of systematic nursing intervention on cancer-related fatigue, self-efficacy, self-nursing ability, and quality of life in gastric cancer (GC) patients during the perioperative period.
    Methods: In this study, sample size was based on the multivariable scale. The sample size was 10 times the acceptable variable, with an additional 20% added to account for an expected loss of patients in follow-up for a final sample size of 168 patients. Conventional nursing measures were used in the control group, while the systematic nursing intervention Adopted Cancer Fatigue Scale (CFS), General Self-Efficacy Scale-Schwarzer (GSES), Self-Care Agency Scale (ESCA), and simple health scale (SF-36) were used in the observation group. The questionnaires were administered on admission and discharge.
    Results: At admission, there was no statistically significant difference in the scores on each scale between the groups. At discharge, the CFS and GSES scores in the observation group were 21.56 ± 2.24 and 51.16 ± 11.71, while those in the control group were 29.61 ± 3.48 and 41.58 ± 8.54, respectively, with statistically significant differences. The ESCA score in the observation and control groups was 112.09 ± 11.72 and 97.87 ± 9.26, respectively. Moreover, the scores in all dimensions (self-concept, self-responsibility, health knowledge level, and self-care skills) in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences. The SF-36 score in the observation and control groups was 75.51 ± 3.63 and 63.24 ± 3.41, respectively, with statistically significant differences. The scores in all dimensions (mental health, vitality, physical function, physical pain, social function, emotional function, and overall health level) in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences.
    Conclusion: Systemic nursing intervention for GC patients during the perioperative period could alleviate cancer-related fatigue, improve self-efficacy and self-nursing ability, and improve quality of life, which all have clinical value.

    Abstract In a world of finite metallic minerals, demand forecasting is crucial for managing the stocks and flows of these critical resources. Previous studies have projected copper supply and demand at the global level and the regional level of EU and China. However, no comprehensive study exists for the U.S., which has displayed unique copper consumption and dematerialization trends. In this study, we adapted the stock dynamics approach to forecast the U.S. copper in-use stock (IUS), consumption, and end-of-life (EOL) flows from 2016 to 2070 under various U.S.-specific scenarios. Assuming different socio-technological development trajectories, our model results are consistent with a stabilization range of 215-260 kg/person for the IUS. This is projected along with steady growth in the annual copper consumption and EOL copper generation driven mainly by the growing U.S. population. This stabilization trend of per capita IUS indicates that future copper consumption will largely recuperate IUS losses, allowing 34-39% of future demand to be met potentially by recycling 43% of domestic EOL copper. Despite the recent trends of "dematerialization", adaptive policies still need to be designed for enhancing the EOL recovery, especially in light of a potential transitioning to a "green technology" future with increased electrification dictating higher copper demand.

    Abstract Motility near solid surfaces plays a key role in the life cycle of bacteria and is essential for biofilm formation, biofilm dispersal, and virulence. The alignment of the cell body with the surface during surface swimming impacts bacterial surface sensing. Here, we developed a high-throughput method for characterizing the orientation of the cell body relative to the surface using total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy. The angle between the cell body and the surface was determined by maximizing image cross-correlations between the TIRF image of the cell and a reference library.     Abstract Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a novel class of hybrid porous multi-functional materials consisting of metal ions/clusters and organic ligands. MOFs have exclusive benefits due to their tunable structure and diverse properties. Luminescent MOFs (LMOFs) exhibit both porosity and light emission. They display abundant host and guest responses, making them conducive to sensing. Currently, LMOF sensing research is gaining more depth, with attention given to their device and practical applications. This work reviews recent advancements and device applications of LMOFs as chemical sensors toward ions, volatile organic compounds, biomolecules, and environmental toxins. Furthermore, the detection mechanism and the correlation between material properties and structure are elaborated. This analysis serves as a valuable reference for the preparation and efficient application of targeted LMOFs.

    Abstract We investigated the contamination of the operator and the surrounding environment during wound debridement through simulated operations using fluorescent labelling. On-site simulated operation assessment was performed before and after the training. Oranges and square towels were used to simulate wounds and the inpatient units, respectively. Fluorescent powder was applied to the surfaces. Operations on oranges simulated bedside debridement, and the postoperative distribution of the fluorescent powder was employed to reflect the contamination of the operator and the surrounding environment. During the pre-training assessment, contamination was observed in 28 of the 29 trainees. The commonly contaminated parts were the extensor side of the forearm, middle abdomen, upper abdomen, and hands. The right side of the operating area was contaminated in 24 trainees. During the post-training assessment, contamination was observed in 13 of the 15 trainees. The commonly parts were the hands, extensor side of the forearm, and the lower abdomen. The front, back, left, and right sides of the operating area were contaminated in 12, 9, 11, and 14 trainees, respectively. Contamination of the treatment cart was observed in 5 trainees. Operator and the surrounding environment can be contaminated during wound debridement. Attention should be paid to hand hygiene, wearing and changing of work clothes, and disinfection of the surrounding environment. Moreover, regular training is recommended.
