    Abstract In today’s world, global ecological environment problems are increasingly serious, and human beings have gradually realized the importance of protecting the ecological environment. With the continuous deepening of the concept of sustainable development, the concept of green education has also aroused great attention in the education sector; moreover, its concept has gradually been applied to education and teaching. However, there are many problems in the application of green education. For example, the current green education system is not sound, the importance of green education in schools is not obvious, and there is no effective green teacher training program. In order to improve the current application of green education, this paper proposes to integrate the concept of sustainable development into the teaching of green environmental protection education. Through the construction of a sound green education system and green education classrooms, green ecological ideas would thus be infiltrated into many aspects of education and teaching. Due to the uneven distribution of educational resources in many regions, the quality of education in these regions is also uneven. In order to improve this situation, this paper also constructs an educational resource distribution model. Furthermore, this paper also analyzes the educational resource allocation model by using a differential evolution algorithm. From the experimental results, under the algorithm in this paper, the average student–teacher ratio of each county was 4.93, and the average number of books per student was 38.92. The average running time of teacher resources and book resources allocated by the model was found to be 1.47 s and 1.39 s, respectively. Under the traditional algorithm, the average student–teacher ratio in each county was 5.93, and the average number of books per student in each county was 31.8.     Abstract The alarming increase in soil contamination by heavy metals, such as cadmium and zinc demands immediate attention. The dioecious tree Populus cathayana, a phytoremediation plant, plays an important role in rehabilitating heavy metal contaminated areas. In this study, male and female P. cathayana plants were treated with Cd (20 mg kg−1) and different levels of Zn (25, 50, or 100 mg kg−1) to study their physiological responses. The results showed that Cd exposure alone caused stress by inhibiting the growth of both male and female plants. In both males and females, photosynthesis and antioxidant enzymes activities decreased substantially under Cd stress alone. Cd was largely located in the roots, but Zn was present in the shoots of both sexes. Zn supplementation considerably increased the photosynthetic rate from 14.62 % to 60.45 % and also enhanced the antioxidant enzymes activities from 24.11 % to 86.21 %. Zn treatment decreased the translocation ability of Cd compared to the Cd-only treatment, alleviating Cd toxicity. In addition, when sufficient Zn was made available, males showed a high degree of Cd accumulation, low root-to-shoot translocation, elevated antioxidant defense abilities, and an increased photosynthetic rate, while females were less responsive to Cd stress than males. Thus, combined exposure to Cd and Zn caused differential responses in plant growth and physiological processes between males and females P. cathayana. Male plants exhibit better Cd tolerance and accumulation capacity under optimum Zn supplementation. This study increases the fundamental knowledge regarding P. cathayana plants, which can be applied to enhance their remediation capacity in Cd-contaminated soils.

    Abstract With the increasingly serious energy and environmental problems, the R1234yf ejector refrigeration system (ERS) shows great development potential in the refrigeration industry due to its simplicity, low maintenance costs and environmentally friendly nature. However, poor ejector performance has always been the main bottleneck for system applications. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes a design method for R1234yf ejectors based on the gas dynamic method and optimizes the geometrical parameters including the area ratio (AR) and nozzle exit position (NXP) to improve its performance through the control variable optimization algorithms. Based on the validated simulation model, the results show that the entrainment ratio increases initially and then decreases with the increase in AR and NXP, respectively; the AR has a significant effect on the shock wave position in the mixing chamber and the NXP can directly influence the expansion state of motive fluid; the ejector performance increases by about 17% over the initial entrainment ratio by the control variable optimization algorithms. This work can guide the R1234yf ejector design and promote the development of the ERS with environmentally friendly working fluids.

    Abstract A 63-day feeding trial with 640 juvenile L. maculatus was conducted to assess the effects of dietary CT on serum metabolites, antioxidant and immune response, liver histomorphology and glycometabolism enzyme activities of fish. Four diets were formulated to contain 0 (T1), 1 (T2), 2 (T3), and 2 g/kg of CT plus 4 g/kg of polyethylene glycol (PEG) (T4). PEG specifically binds with CT to neutralize CT activity. Fish were randomly distributed into 16 tanks (4 tanks per group and 40 fish per tank) and were fed to apparent satiation twice daily. Results indicated that fish fed T2 and T3 had lower (P<0.05) concentrations of serum albumin, total cholesterol and triacylglycerol, but higher (P<0.05) alanine aminotransferase activity than T1 and T4. T3 had lower (P<0.05) serum glucose but higher (P<0.05) insulin concentrations than other groups. Fish fed T2 and T3 had higher (P<0.05) liver superoxide dismutase, catalase, lysozyme and immune globulin M than T1 and T4. Compared with T1 and T4, hepatocytes in T2 and T3 were shown to have obvious vacuolar degeneration along with different degree of inflammatory cell infiltration. Fish fed T2 and T3 had higher (P<0.05) values of eosinophilic infiltrate and necrosis and greater (P<0.05) pyruvate kinase, but lower (P<0.05) glucokinase activities than those of fish fed T1 and T4. All parameters were similar (P>0.05) between T1 and T4. In summary, dietary CT up to 2 g/kg reduced serum lipid and glucose concentrations, enhanced liver antioxidant and immune response, improved glucose utilization but of L. maculatus. CT induced liver injury of L. maculatus which provided a caution for its application in aquaculture.

    Abstract This study was performed to assess the effects of dietary aflatoxin B 1 (AFB 1 ) on the growth, antioxidant and immune response, digestive enzyme activities, and intestinal morphology of Lateolabrax maculatus during a 56-day feeding trial. Four diets were formulated including 0, 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 mg/kg of AFB 1 . Each diet was randomly assigned to 3 fish tanks with 40 fish per tank. Results indicated that the fish’s final body weight, weight gain rate, specific growth rate, feed intake, condition factor, viscerosomatic index, hepatosomatic index, and intestinesomatic index decreased ( p < 0.01) as dietary AFB 1 increased. AFB 1 levels in diets increased ( p < 0.05) serum total antioxidant capacity (TAOC), superoxide (SOD), catalase, malondialdehyde (MDA), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), and lysozyme (LZM), and increased ( p < 0.05) the TAOC, SOD, MDA, AKP, LZM, and immunoglobulin M in the livers of the fish. Dietary AFB 1 decreased ( p < 0.05) intestinal trypsin activity and induced intestinal injury. In summary, dietary AFB 1 up to 1.0 mg/kg was toxic to L . maculatus as judged by reduced growth, enhanced antioxidant and immune response, decreased intestinal trypsin activity, and impaired intestinal morphology.

    Abstract Supramolecular drug delivery systems (SDDSs) provide a useful platform for smart and functional drug carriers owing to their high selectivity towards various guest molecules and stimulus-responsive properties. Pillar[n]arenes represent a new generation of macrocyclic hosts with unique structures and chemical properties. In recent times pillar[n]arenes have attracted considerable attention as ideal scaffolds for the construction of SDDSs. Since sugar functionalized pillar[n]arenes have good water solubility and excellent biocompatibility, they have been widely applied in supramolecular systems construction, such as nanoparticles, vesicles, and gels by non-covalent interactions, so as to meet the requirements of their applications in biomedicine. These SDDSs present good responsiveness, not only realizing targeted delivery and controllable release of drugs, but also improving drug solubility and reducing its toxic and side effects. Here, according to the different structure of the assembly, the SDDSs constructed by the sugar functionalized pillar[n]arenes are summarized, and the development prospect of the system is prospected.

    Abstract Although it had been reported that Israeli acute paralysis virus (IAPV) can cause systemic infection in honey bees, little is known about how it establishes this infection and results in the typical symptoms, paralysis and trembling. Here, we used our previously constructed IAPV infectious clone to investigate viral loads in different tissues of honey bees and further identify the relation between tissue tropism and paralytic symptoms. Our results showed that tracheae showed a greater concentration of viral abundance than other tissues. The abundance of viral protein in the tracheae was positively associated with viral titers, and was further confirmed by immunological and ultrastructural evidence. Furthermore, higher viral loads in tracheae induced remarkable down-regulation of succinate dehydrogenase and cytochrome c oxidase genes, and progressed to causing respiratory failure of honey bees, resulting in the appearance of typical symptoms, paralysis and body trembling. Our results showed that paralysis symptoms or trembling was actually to mitigate tachypnea induced by IAPV infection due to the impairment of honey bee tracheae, and revealed a direct causal link between paralysis symptoms and tissue tropism. These findings provide new insights into the understanding of the underlying mechanism of paralysis symptoms of honey bees after viral infection and have implications for viral disease prevention and specific therapeutics in practice.

    Abstract Understanding the effects of above- and below-ground interactions on seedling growth is pivotal for identifying the key drivers of secondary forest succession. However, it is still unclear whether the effects of above- and below-ground interactions of plants are consistent for seedling growth of deciduous and evergreen species. There are two types of broadleaved forests (i.e., tropical lowland rainforest and tropical deciduous monsoon rainforest) in the low-elevation (<800 m) areas of Hainan Island in China. Here, 32 seedling transplanting plots (1 × 1 m 2 ) were established in the tropical lowland rainforest and the tropical deciduous monsoon rainforest, respectively. Four treatments (each with 16 replicates) were carried out to reduce above- and below-ground interactions of plants in the low-elevation forests: removal of vegetation (R), root trenching (T), removal of vegetation and root trenching (R + T), and no vegetation removal or trenching (as the control) (C). Seedlings of four deciduous species and four evergreen species were planted to observe their performance in the experiments. The relative growth rates (RGR) of the seedlings were measured to distinguish the relative effects of above- and below-ground interactions. The photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) was measured as a proxy for above-ground interaction and the root biomass was used as a proxy for below-ground interaction. The relationships between seedling RGR and PAR/root biomass were examined. Results showed that: (1) R and R+T treatments significantly increased the seedlings RGR, but T treatment had no effect on the RGR; (2) the growth rates of deciduous species were greater than those of the evergreen species; and (3) seedling growth rates were increased with more PAR. Our study suggests that above-ground vegetation removal had a stronger effect than trenching on the growth and assembly of tree seedlings in the low-elevation tropical rainforests.

    Abstract The low-carbon supply chain is key to promoting sustainable development and solving environmental pollution. Government policies related to lowering carbon emissions deeply affect supply chains. This paper builds a supply chain decision-making model under three different regulatory policies: a pure carbon tax, a pure low-carbon subsidy, and a mixed policy with both a carbon tax and a low-carbon subsidy, then compares and analyzes the impacts of these three different regulatory policies on carbon emissions, manufacturer and retailer income, and marginal profit in order to determine the best course of action with respect to supply chain decision-making. Our results indicate that the supply chain decision-making model under the mixed carbon tax and low-carbon subsidy policy results in a unique Nash equilibrium solution between the retailer subsidy rate and the manufacturing carbon reduction rate in a non-cooperative game. Although a carbon tax is beneficial to the ecological environment, retailer income increases slightly as the carbon tax coefficient increases before declining rapidly. Manufacturer income has a negative linear relationship with carbon tax, and an excessive amount of carbon tax increases the burden on companies. Therefore, the government must establish reasonable standards for carbon tax collection while offering moderate low-carbon subsidies at the same time as a means of optimizing social welfare.

    Abstract Most osteoporosis (OP) fracture accidents in men are due not only to a low BMD but also because of unhealthy muscle support. However, there has been a limited number of reports about how muscle metabolism is disturbed by OP in males. In this work, a pathway analysis based on metabolomic research was carried out to fill this gap. A classical orchiectomy procedure was adapted to create an OP animal model. A micro-CT and pathological section were applied for a bone and muscle phenotype assessment and a pathology analysis. UPLC-Q-TOF/MS and UPLC-QQQ-MS/MS were applied to measure metabolites in skeletal muscle samples among groups. In total, 31 significantly differential metabolites were detected by comparing healthy models and OP animals, and 7 representative metabolites among the 31 significantly differential metabolites were identified and validated experimentally by UPLC-QQQ-MS/MS (xanthine, L-phenylalanine, choline, hypoxanthine, L-tryptophan, succinic acid, and L-tyrosine). An ingenuity pathway analysis (IPA) analysis revealed significantly enriched pathways involved in inflammation, oxidative stress, and necrosis. To our best knowledge, this is the first study to investigate early muscle disorder processes in Cases of OP at a metabolic level, facilitating early intervention and protection from OP fractures for aged men.
