Abstract With the popularity of positive psychology in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching and learning, learners' positive emotions have attracted great academic attention. Foreign language enjoyment (FLE) is regarded as a constructive emotion and key component for learners' academic engagement that is affected by educators' emotions and psychological attributes. Earlier studies have proved the positive role of educators' mindfulness and compassion in reducing learners' negative feelings, boosting their positive emotions and building a harmonious teacher-student rapport. Through mindful and compassionate training, EFL teachers are skilled at creating a joyful learning atmosphere, showing understanding and support toward learners, as well as inspiring learners with enthusiasm and joy. The present review makes efforts to emphasize the significant effect of EFL teachers' mindfulness and compassion on fostering students' FLE. Moreover, a number of practical implications are provided for EFL teachers, teacher educators, school managers, and future directions are offered for enthusiastic researchers to conduct similar and complementary research in the field of foreign language education.

Abstract Generally, in-depth learning has been extensively employed in numerous industries to enhance the growth of economic globalization since the dawn of the big data age. At the same time, the demand for foreign language talent has risen dramatically, and more and more businesses are steadily raising their English proficiency standards. International interactions, as well as scientific and technical exchanges, are influenced by English communicating competence. As a result, colleges and universities place a high value on students studying English. However, English learning is also a compulsory course in Colleges and universities, which is different from other courses. Therefore, in setting teaching objectives, arranging teaching activities, and compiling teaching contents, we should highlight students' personalized needs and formulate learning plans in combination with the individual requirements of each student. Aiming at this problem, this paper adopts the deep learning method to study the personalized learning of College English. Deep learning algorithm utilization in the development of college students' English learning reduces teachers' workload and focuses more on students' personalized needs, which is beneficial to teachers' teaching and students' learning. By analyzing the deep learning neural network model, the process of English speech recognition is described, and the characteristic parameters of English speech are extracted. Then compare and explain the characteristics of deep learning and shallow learning, analyze the relationship between them, and clarify the route of deep learning. Finally, the effect of College Students' personalized learning is analyzed by random sampling, and the effect of College English personalized learning based on deep learning is explained from two aspects: listening effect and reading practice.

Abstract Macrophage polarization is a critical determinant of disease progression and regression. Studies on macrophage plasticity and polarization can provide a theoretical basis for the tactics of diagnosis and treatment for macrophage-related diseases. These include inflammation-related diseases, such as sepsis, tumors, and metabolic disorders. Growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) or macrophage inhibitory cytokine-1, a 25 kDa secreted homodimeric protein, is a member of the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily that is released in response to external stressors. GDF-15 regulates biological effects such as tumor occurrence, inflammatory response, tissue damage, angiogenesis, and bone metabolism. It has been shown to exert anti-inflammatory and pro-inflammatory effects in inflammation-related diseases. Moreover, inflammatory stimuli can induce GDF-15 expression in immune and parenchymal cells. GDF-15 exhibits a feedback inhibitory effect by inhibiting tumor necrosis factor-α secretion during the macrophage activation anaphase, suggesting that there may be a close association between the two. GDF-15 directly induces CD14

Abstract Cysteine thiols are susceptible to various oxidative posttranslational modifications (PTMs) due to their high chemical reactivity. Thiol-based PTMs play a crucial role in regulating protein functions and are key contributors to cellular redox signaling. Although reversible thiol-based PTMs, such as disulfide bond formation, S-nitrosylation, and S-glutathionylation, have been extensively studied for their roles in redox regulation, thiol sulfinic acid (-SO

Abstract Objective: The link between sleep quality and hypertension risk is well-established. However, research on the specific dose-relationship between objective sleep characteristics and hypertension incidence remains limited. This study aims to explore the dose-relationship association between objective sleep characteristics and hypertension incidence.
Methods: A community-based prospective cohort study design was employed using data from the Sleep Heart Health Study (SHHS). A total of 2,460 individuals were included in the study, of which 780 had hypertension. Baseline personal characteristics and medical history were collected. Objective sleep characteristics were obtained through polysomnography (PSG). Multivariate logistic regression models were utilized for analysis. Restricted cubic splines (RCS) were used to examine dose-relationship associations.
Results: After adjusting for covariates, the percentage of total sleep duration in stage 2 (N2%) was positively associated with hypertension incidence, while the N3% was negatively associated with hypertension incidence Odds ratio (OR) = 1.009, 95% confidence interval (CI) [1.001, 1.018],
Conclusions: There's a negative association between N3% and the incidence of hypertension, and a positive association between N2% and the incidence of hypertension, particularly among non-depression individuals. These associations exhibit strong non-linear dose-response relationships.

Abstract Identification of embedding dimension is helpful to the reconstruction of phase space. However, it is difficult to calculate the proper embedding dimension for the financial time series of dynamics. By this Letter, we suggest a new method based on Manhattan distance and recurrence quantification analysis for determining the embedding dimension. By the advantages of the above two tools, the new method can calculate the proper embedding dimension with the feature of stability, accuracy and rigor. Besides, it also has a good performance on the chaotic time series which has a high-dimensional attractors.

Abstract Biochemical analysis is crucial for determining protein functionality changes during various conditions, including oxidative stress conditions. In this chapter, after giving brief guidelines for experimental design, we provide step-by-step instructions to purify recombinant plant proteins from E. coli, to prepare reduced and oxidized proteins for activity assay, and to characterize the protein under reducing and oxidizing conditions, with a focus on thiol-based oxidative modifications, like S-sulfenylation and disulfide formations.
