Abstract In addition to being the core quantity in density-functional theory, the charge density can be used in many tertiary analyses in materials sciences from bonding to assigning charge to specific atoms. The charge density is data-rich since it contains information about all the electrons in the system. With the increasing prevalence of machine-learning tools in materials sciences, a data-rich object like the charge density can be utilized in a wide range of applications. The database presented here provides a modern and user-friendly interface for a large and continuously updated collection of charge densities as part of the Materials Project. In addition to the charge density data, we provide the theory and code for changing the representation of the charge density which should enable more advanced machine-learning studies for the broader community.

Abstract Amorphous materials exhibit unique properties that make them suitable for various applications in science and technology, ranging from optical and electronic devices and solid-state batteries to protective coatings. However, data-driven exploration and design of amorphous materials is hampered by the absence of a comprehensive database covering a broad chemical space. In this work, we present the largest computed amorphous materials database to date, generated from systematic and accurate \textit{ab initio} molecular dynamics (AIMD) calculations. We also show how the database can be used in simple machine-learning models to connect properties to composition and structure, here specifically targeting ionic conductivity. These models predict the Li-ion diffusivity with speed and accuracy, offering a cost-effective alternative to expensive density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Furthermore, the process of computational quenching amorphous materials provides a unique sampling of out-of-equilibrium structures, energies, and force landscape, and we anticipate that the corresponding trajectories will inform future work in universal machine learning potentials, impacting design beyond that of non-crystalline materials.

Abstract This article describes a method for calculating moments and correlation functions of signal derivatives, which were rid of experimental noise without the use of filtering operations. The method is based on the computation of the ensemble-average of different time (or spatial) increments of the signal. The hypotheses are that the noise is white and not correlated with the signal; however, the method is also shown to work with colored noise. The method is first developed, considering white noise, and benchmarked with synthetic trajectories containing noise with variable signal-to-noise ratios. It is then tested on experimental trajectories in the context of Lagrangian tracking of particles in turbulent flows, either containing a short-correlated noise or a colored noise.

Abstract We utilize Viability theory to evaluate the effects of CAP. A differential equation describes the dynamic development of soil productivity. If farmers do without entitlement, they are free in soil handling. And as we assume they are short-term profit maximizers, they miss to pay attention to soil conservation. Soil productivity is at risk; correspondingly, economic sustainability is at risk. But if farmers activate their entitlements, they become obliged to soil conserving measures. The model demonstrates that the decision to participate or not at the "entitlement & cross compliance"-program, depends on payment-level and the effects of the decision depend on the dynamics of the environmental system.

Abstract The position of floating spheres trapped within an immersed turbulent water jet is investigated. Using the self-similarity properties of the jet velocity profile, the equilibrium problem is formulated in a rescaled space where the sphere is static and deformable. This approach is found to be related to a problem of elastic reconfiguration where elasticity arises here from the geometry of the flow instead of an actual deformation of a body.
