Abstract In the current complicated and volatile international situation, maintaining the sustainable development of OFDI is critical to the economic recovery and growth of all countries. This study aims to examine the influence of foreign direct investment (FDI) and migration on the sustainable development of outward foreign direct investment (OFDI), the moderating effects of intellectual property rights (IPR) protection on the relationship between FDI and OFDI, and the relationship between migration and OFDI. Using the panel data of 85 countries from 2006 to 2018, we find that, globally, FDI positively affects OFDI and that the positive effect of FDI on OFDI is strengthened by the improvement of IPR protection. Migration negatively affects OFDI, and the influence of IPR protection on the relationship between migration and OFDI is not statistically significant. The study shows that in high-income countries, FDI positively affects OFDI, and IPR protection positively moderates the relationship between FDI and OFDI. For upper-middle-income countries, FDI positively affects OFDI, and IPR protection negatively moderates the relationship between FDI and OFDI. For lower-middle and low-income countries, the influence of FDI on OFDI is not statistically significant. Moreover, the influence of migration on OFDI is not significant in high- or upper-middle-income countries. For lower-middle and low-income countries, migration negatively affects OFDI, and IPR protection positively moderates the relationship between migration and OFDI.

Abstract In recent years, open innovation and intellectual property rights have become critical factors to gain superior sustainable innovation performance. However, existing literature pays little attention to different open innovation strategies and their interplay with different IP management approaches in improving sustainable innovation performance. Drawing on the contractual/non-contractual view, this study explores how external partnering and external sourcing affect sustainable innovation performance, and the moderating role of IP strategic planning and IP operation. An empirical study is performed based on an innovation survey with one sample of 764 manufacturing firms. The results show that both external partnering and external sourcing can enhance sustainable innovation performance. Moreover, both IP strategic planning and IP operation play a positive moderating role in the relationship between open innovation and sustainable innovation performance. IP operation functions well once firms engage in open innovation, while IP strategic planning functions well when firms are open to some certain extent. This study provides important implications for sustainability research and managerial practice.

Abstract In this study, MIL-53(Fe) was innovatively incorporated into carbon felt (CF) by growing in-situ using the solvothermal method. MIL-53(Fe)@carbon felt (MIL-53(Fe)@CF) was prepared and used for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB). As a new photocatalytic membrane, MIL-53(Fe)@CF photocatalytic membrane has the characteristics of high degradation efficiency and recyclability. Influence of various parameters including MIL-53(Fe)@CF loading, light, electron trapper type, and starting pH on RhB degradation were investigated. The morphology, structure, and degradation properties of MIL-53(Fe)@CF photocatalytic membrane were characterized. Corresponding reaction mechanisms were explored. The results indicated that pH at 4.5 and 1 mmol/L H 2 O 2 , 150 mg MIL-53(Fe)@CF could photocatalytically degrade 1 mg/L RhB by 98.8% within 120 min, and the reaction rate constant (k) could reach 0.03635 min −1 . The clearance rate of RhB decreased by only 2.8% after three operations. MIL-53(Fe)@CF photocatalytic membrane was found to be stable.

Abstract OBJECTIVES: To investigate the safety and efficacy of combined tirofiban-ozagrel therapy for treating progressive stroke patients out of thrombolytic therapy time window. METHODS: This prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled study included 337 patients who had experienced an acute ischemic stroke between November 2017 and December 2018. All patients were randomized into three groups: 1) the tirofiban/ozagrel group (n=113), 2) the tirofiban group (n=110), and 3) the ozagrel group (n=114). The platelet aggregation (PAG), thrombin time (TT), prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), and fibrinogen (FIB) levels in the patients from these groups were evaluated before starting treatment and then, at 24h, 7 days, and 14 days after treatment. The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores were evaluated before treatment and then, 24h, 1 week, 2 weeks, and 4 weeks after treatment. The Barthel Index (BI) score was used to measure safety, and the modified Rankin scale (mRS) was used to evaluate disability following 3 months of treatment. The risk factors affecting clinical outcomes were analyzed using logistic multivariate regression. RESULTS: The mean NIHSS score for all the patients was 13.17±3.13 before treatment, and no significant difference between the basic clinical parameters of the three patient groups was found. Following treatment, both PAG and FIB were significantly reduced compared with the baseline (p<0.05). The levels of PAG and FIB in the tirofiban/ozagrel group were significantly lower than those in the tirofiban and ozagrel groups at 24h and 7 days after treatment (p<0.05). The NIHSS score decreased significantly in all treatment groups (p<0.05). The tirofiban/ozagrel NIHSS scores were significantly lower than that of the tirofiban and ozagrel groups at 24h, 1 week, and 2 weeks post initiation (p<0.05 for all). There were no significant differences in the BI and mRS scores or the intracranial hemorrhage rates; further, age, sex, Trial of ORG 10172 in acute stroke treatment (TOAST) type, baseline NIHSS and 24-h NIHSS scores, baseline thrombus-related factors, and treatment methods were shown to not be independent risk factors for clinical outcomes. CONCLUSION: The combination of tirofiban and ozagrel, as well as monotherapy with either tirofiban or ozagrel, transiently improves the neural function of patients and reduces platelet aggregation and fibrinogen formation in the first 4 weeks following a stroke event; additionally, none of these treatments increased the risk for hemorrhage in these progressive stroke patients over a 3-month period.

Abstract Enterprises performing complex product servitization are more vulnerable to the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic because of their large number of suppliers and wide coverage, among other things. The present research focuses on how to promote the sustainable innovation of complex product servitization. We investigate complex products and sustainable innovation—factors influencing the sustainable innovation of complex product servitization—based on the characteristics of product servitization and by combining the definitions of product servitization. We find that inadequate innovation ability and poor technical research and development (R&D) competence are the primary concerns in the sustainable innovation of complex product servitization. Specific to innovation ability improvement, the sustainable innovation of complex product servitization must follow an innovation-driven development strategy, a hard power cultivation strategy, and a soft power cultivation strategy. In terms of technical R&D competence enhancement, technological innovation strategies, integrated outsourcing of technical R&D competence, and independent improvement of technical R&D competence must be implemented to facilitate the sustainable innovation of complex product servitization.

Abstract Biochar-derived dissolved organic carbon (BDOC), as a highly activated carbonaceous fraction of biochar, significantly affects the environmental effect of biochar. This study systematically investigated the differences in the properties of BDOC produced at 300–750 °C in three atmosphere types (including N 2 and CO 2 flows and air limitation) as well as their quantitative relationship with biochar properties. The results showed that BDOC in biochar pyrolyzed in air limitation (0.19–2.88 mg/g) was more than that pyrolyzed in N 2 (0.06–1.63 mg/g) and CO 2 flows (0.07–1.74 mg/g) at 450–750 °C. The aliphaticity, humification, molecular weight, and polarity of BDOC strongly depended on the atmosphere types as well as the pyrolysis temperatures. BDOC produced in air limitation contained more humic-like substances (0.65–0.89) and less fulvic-like substances (0.11–0.35) than that produced in N 2 and CO 2 flows. The multiple linear regression of the exponential form of biochar properties (H and O contents, H/C and (O+N)/C) could be used to quantitatively predict the bulk content and organic component contents of BDOC. Additionally, self-organizing maps could effectively visualize the categories of fluorescence intensity and components of BDOC from different pyrolysis atmospheres and temperatures. This study highlights that pyrolysis atmosphere types are a crucial factor controlling the BDOC properties, and some characteristics of BDOC can be quantitatively evaluated based on the properties of biochar.

Abstract Keypoints The combination of pleth variability index (PVI) and inferior vena cava-collapsibility index (IVC-CI) has correlation and consistency in cesarean delivery in twin pregnancies. The distribution intervals of IVC-CI% and PVI were relatively widely distributed after anesthesia when the blocking plane was in the T5 stratum, narrower at T6, and intermediate at T7. PVI is a valuable predictor of cesarean delivery volume in twin pregnancies in clinical practice.

Abstract The sudden appearance of a new epidemic disease in China created the need for names identifying that disease. Between December 2019 and January 2020, a variety of severe pneumonia-related disease names suddenly appeared, and more name varieties kept coming up afterwards. To better understand the introduction and spread of these names, 16 different COVID-19-related name varieties were selected covering the period from the end of December 2019, when the epidemic started, to mid-March 2020, a moment at which the term competition had stabilized. By way of big data analysis, the initiation and distribution of the 16 names across the media landscape was traced with regard to the impact of different media platforms, while the distribution frequency of each of the selected terms was mapped, resulting in a distinction of three groups of disease names, each with a different media and time profile. The results were discussed based on the hypotheses of disease confusion by name variety and management failures in absence of clear language governance at the national and global levels. The analysis of the data led to a refutation of both hypotheses. Based on this discussion, the study offers empirically based suggestions for the WHO in their naming practices and further research.
