Abstract Neuroendocrine differentiation has been mentioned in many cancers of non-neuroendocrinal organs, involving the gastrointestinal tract. In contrast, the correlation of focally diffused neuroendocrine differentiation in colorectal adenocarcinoma with neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia has not been somewhat reported. The objective of this research is to study the relationship between neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia and neuroendocrine differentiation in colorectal adenocarcinoma and to find the correlation of neuroendocrine differentiation and VEGF expression with clinicopathological parameters of colorectal adenocarcinoma. Methods employed in the current study were including eighty-one patients with colorectal cancer. Formalin fixed paraffin embedded blocks were sectioned and stained with immunohistochemical markers; Chromogranin A and VEGF; and processed automatically according to protocols supplied by the antibody manufacturer. Results show that neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia in the mucosa nearby tumor comprised (42%) and it was associated with neuroendocrine differentiation. Neuroendocrine differentiation and vascular endothelial growth factor were positive in 48.1% and 63% respectively. Neuroendocrine differentiation did not show a relation with clinicopathological parameters with the exception of tumor that metastasizes to other tissues and organs. The association of VEGF with the same factors had significant impact with tumor stage, degree of local invasion and lymph node metastasis. Other histological changes revealed that only desmoplastic reaction had significant difference in relation to neuroendocrine differentiation. This study reached the conclusion that neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia is positively correlated with neuroendocrine differentiation and it has strong linkage in pathogenesis of colorectal adenocarcinoma. Neuroendocrine differentiation and VEGF expression are greatly correlated with progression and invasion of tumor to other tissues and organs, and this can be represented as an important ...

Abstract A 36-year-old woman with prior hypertriglyceridemia-induced pancreatitis presented with a recurrence of pancreatitis after beginning in vitro fertilization (IVF). Her primary care physician had discontinued fenofibrate due to concerns for teratogenicity. This case illustrates the importance of fibrate therapy for high-risk women undergoing IVF, despite limited evidence regarding its teratogenicity.

Abstract The chemical bath deposition technique (CBD) had used for depositing Cu2S thin films on the glass substrates. It found that thickness and deposition rate were significantly dependent on deposition parameters (deposition time and pH value). XRD data indicates that at different deposition times and pH values are given amorphous structure except for the deposited thin film of (8hours) and, pH of (10.4) the structure was crystalline. The morphology of the deposited thin films remarkably changed as the deposition time increased. Optical transmittance measurements illustrate that transmission of the thin films decreases from 93.27% for a deposition time of 4 hours to 81.73 for deposition time of 10 hours and, the maximum transmission rate of the films is 95.21 % with pH=8.4 and decreases to 28.39 % with pH=11.4. Also, optical studies revealed that Cu2S thin film with direct energy bandgap decreased from 3.04 to 2.78 eV as deposition time increased and from 3.09 to 2.32 eV as pH increased.

Abstract A 29-year-old woman was hospitalized for fever, pharyngitis, and severe neutropenia after recent use of doxycycline and other antimicrobials. Three years later, she again presented with severe neutropenia after recent doxycycline use. Diagnostic workups were unyielding. This is only the second published case of severe neutropenia associated with doxycycline use.

Abstract Goodpasture's syndrome is a rare vasculitis associated with anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) autoantibodies that target type IV collagen found in the basement membranes of glomeruli and alveoli. We present a case of a 79-year-old man with seronegative Goodpasture's syndrome with predominant respiratory symptoms and mild acute kidney injury that initially improved. Final diagnosis was made by immunofluorescent staining on open lung biopsy which also revealed concomitant organising pneumonia. The patient underwent treatment with corticosteroids, cyclophosphamide, haemodialysis and plasmapheresis. This was an atypical presentation wherein the patient only exhibited pulmonary symptoms early in the course of illness in the setting of negative anti-GBM antibody serum testing, which made diagnosis challenging. With this case, we emphasise that clinicians should have a high suspicion for Goodpasture's syndrome in the setting of unexplained severe pulmonary or renal disease despite negative anti-GBM antibody testing.

Abstract By July 2021, the United States had over 34.4 million confirmed COVID-19 cases. Various cardiovascular manifestations of COVID-19 have been reported including ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), and there is concern that SARS-CoV-2 may be associated with a higher thrombus burden. We performed a retrospective chart review of 535 adult patients with COVID-19 admitted at Yale-New Haven Health Greenwich Hospital from February 1, 2020, to May 13, 2020. All admitted patients had undergone testing for serum troponin I and various inflammatory markers, and we identified three patients who were diagnosed with acute STEMI. Data was collected via manual chart review and included patient demographics, comorbidities, laboratory tests, electrocardiogram (ECG) results, echocardiography results, diagnoses during hospitalization, inpatient therapies, and outcomes including length of hospital stay, revascularization results, and mortality. Three of our patients had obstructive coronary artery disease confirmed via angiography. One subject was noted to display vasospasm in addition to coronary atherosclerotic obstruction and refractory thrombus formation. Among our patients with COVID-19 and STEMI, presentations were variable in terms of timing of onset of ECG changes, age, gender, race, comorbidities, symptomology, and outcomes.

Abstract An adult male presented to a hospital in southwestern Connecticut with tachypnea, generalized weakness, altered mental status, and relapsing fever with maximum recorded temperature of 106 °F. He required active cooling, antipyretic therapy, broad spectrum antibiotics, and intubation for airway protection after an episode of emesis. Initial laboratory and imaging workup were remarkable for elevated inflammatory markers, acute kidney injury, and bilateral lower lobe infiltrates. Further workup with lumbar puncture and electroencephalography were unrevealing. Extensive testing for causes of relapsing fever including tickborne diseases revealed that the patient was seropositive for Borrelia miyamotoi. Notably, he had no rash, and workup found no evidence of coinfection by other Borrelia, Ehrlichia or Anaplasma species. This case illustrates the need for clinicians to test for tick-borne diseases when evaluating for cases of relapsing fever in New England and is among the first case reports to demonstrate Borrelia miyamotoi as a cause of severe pyrexia.

Abstract An Experiment has been conducted in research station (the first) of the college of Agriculture / University of Al-Muthanna for the period from 07/22/2015 until 09/5/2015 in order to study the effect of adding aqueous extract of anise seeds recipes on the body weight and feed conversion of Japanese quail.Atotalof 256 of day old quail chicks which are randomly distributed into four treatment groups,64 chicks are per treatment . Chicks in each treatment group have been subdivided into four replicates (16 chicks for each) the aqueous extract of anise seeds has been added to the drinking water at the rate of 25,50,75,0 ml per liter of drinking water for the four treatment groups respectively . The data show that water treatment is significantly (p<0.05) improved live body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion of Japanese quail chicks.
