Abstract Increasing demand in distance education, e-learning, web-based learning, and other digital sectors (e.g., entertainment) has led to excessive amounts of e-content. Learning objects (LOs) are among the most important components of electronic content (e-content) and are preserved in learning object repositories (LORs). LORs produce different types of electronic content. In producing e-content, several visualization techniques are employed to attract users and ensure a better understanding of the provided information. Many of these visualization systems match images with corresponding text using methods such as semantic web, ontologies, natural language processing, statistical techniques, neural networks, and deep neural networks. Unlike these methods, in this study, an automatic and intelligent content visualization system is developed using deep learning and popular artificial intelligence techniques. The proposed system includes subsystems that segment images to panoptic image instances and use these image instances to generate new images using a genetic algorithm, an evolution-based technique that is one of the best-known artificial intelligence methods. This large-scale proposed system was used to test different amounts of LOs for various science fields. The results show that the developed system can be efficiently used to create visually enhanced content for digital use.

Abstract The use of games in daily life, especially in education, has been in an incline during the COVID-2019 pandemic. Thus, game-based learning environments have caused an increase in the need of game contents, but generation of the game contents and levels is a time-consuming and costly process. Generated game contents and levels should be balanced, dense, aesthetic and reachable. Also, the time as well as the costs spent should be decreased. In order to overcome this problem, automatic and intelligent game content and level generation methods have emerged, and procedural content generation (PCG) is the most popular one of these methods. Artificial intelligence techniques are used for procedural game level generation instead of traditional methods. In this study, bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) and fuzzy analytic hierarchy process-genetic algorithm (FAHP-GA) methods were used to generate procedural game levels. This proposed hybrid system was used in a developed educational game as a case study to create game levels. The performance of the proposed study was compared to the other multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods, and also further statistical analyses were investigated. The results showed that the BiLSTM-based FAHP-GA method can be used for procedural game level generation effectively.

Abstract Tuberous sclerosis complex is a genetic disease that can affect multiple organs, commonly the renal, central nervous, cardiac and respiratory systems. Here, we present the peripartum management of a woman with a new diagnosis of tuberous sclerosis complex associated with massive renal angiomyolipomas. There was significant risk of catastrophic haemorrhage from the angiomyolipomas during pregnancy. This created a challenging scenario for the anaesthetists, obstetricians, urologists and interventional radiologists involved in their care, necessitating collaborative working, numerous investigations and honest patient-centred discussions. Evidence for the management of tuberous sclerosis and angiomyolipomas in pregnancy does not appear to have been previously reported. After much consideration, arterial embolisation of the most vascular area of the angiomyolipoma was completed at 28 weeks gestation under remifentanil sedation. An elective caesarean section under combined spinal epidural anaesthesia was completed at 37 + 3 weeks gestation. Central nervous system involvement must always be considered; benign tumours within the brain and spinal cord may contraindicate neuraxial techniques. Early multidisciplinary involvement is essential due to the diverse and complex nature of tuberous sclerosis. Individuals differ in their presentation and disease severity; therefore, they must be assessed on an individual basis with management tailored accordingly.
