Abstract Purpose: Reporting the clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and complications following an imaging-guided percutaneous screw fixation in the treatment of sacroiliac joint dysfunction and evaluating the safety and effectiveness of this method.
Methods: We performed a retrospective study on a prospectively gathered cohort of patients with physiotherapy-resistant pain due to sacroiliac joint incompetence that underwent percutaneous screw fixation, between 2016 and 2022 in our center. A minimum of two screws were used in all patients to obtain fixation of the sacroiliac joint, using percutaneous screw insertion under CT guidance, coupled with a C-arm fluoroscopy unit.
Results: The mean visual analog scale significantly improved at 6 months of follow-up (p < 0.05). One hundred percent of the patients reported significant improvement in pain scores at the final follow-up. None of our patients experienced intraoperative or postoperative complications.
Conclusion: The use of percutaneous sacroiliac screws provides a safe and effective technique for the treatment of sacroiliac joint dysfunction in patients with chronic resistant pain.

Abstract Recent decades have seen a dramatic rise in the prevalence of obesity. While genetic factors can influence obesity, environmental factors and lifestyle may play important roles as well. Sleep can be regarded as one of these factors. This study aimed to examine sleep duration, as a potential risk factor for obesity in an Iranian population. In this cross-sectional study, the Fasa PERSIAN cohort study data was used and 10,136 subjects aged 35-70 were entered. Anthropometrics indices have been measured and the total body fat percentage (BFP) was obtained by Bio-Impedance Analysis. Also, physical activity and dietary intake have been recorded. Sleep duration was obtained and individuals categorized into two groups of "< 8" and "≥ 8" h of sleep. The mean age and sleep duration of the participants were 48.63 ± 9.57 years and 6.92 ± 1.62 h in the total population, respectively. All of the anthropometric indices were significantly higher in the "< 8 h of sleep" group than in the "≥ 8 h of sleep" group. Regarding BFP and fat mass index (FMI) the same results was seen (p-value < 0.05). Body mass index (BMI), Waist and hip circumferences (WC, HC), and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) were in a significant negative association with night time sleep (p-value < 0.001), while these associations with daytime napping were positive (p-value < 0.001). After multi-variable adjusting, BMI, WC, HC, WHtR, and wrist circumference showed significant negative associations with 24-h sleep duration (p-value < 0.05). This study established the association between nocturnal, daytime napping, 24-h sleep duration and obesity parameters. Daytime napping was positively associated with obesity parameters and short 24-h sleep duration was associated with higher risk of overweight/obesity. These results indicate that insufficient sleep can be a screening indicator for an unhealthy lifestyle and poor health outcomes.

Abstract Current standard care for acute cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) includes either intravenous heparin or subcutaneous low-molecular-weight heparin, but patients with refractory CVST, despite adequate anticoagulation therapy, may benefit from mechanical thrombectomy (MT). A retrospective study of patients with CVST, who underwent MT between 2011 and 2019, was performed looking at procedure success rate and clinical outcomes. Two raters evaluated the cerebral venous system of every patient before and after the intervention using the following scoring system: (0) No obvious thrombosis; (1) thrombosis without impaired blood flow; (2) thrombosis with impaired blood flow; (3) and thrombosis with complete vascular occlusion. The success of MT was measured using a score quotient (Q = A/B), dividing the sum of the patient's scores after the intervention (A) by the sum of scores before the intervention (B). Overall, 21 MTs were performed on 20 patients with refractory or severe CVST. Clinical improvement was seen in 61.9% during hospital stay and in 80% at 6-month follow-up, with complete recovery in 70% of patients. Patients with favorable outcomes had significantly lower recanalization quotients (

Abstract BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Mechanical preparation of root canal system is an important objective of root canal therapy. Many rotary devices have been produced to decrease instrumentation time and improve its quality. The purpose of this study was to compare apical transportation in root canal treatment with three methods of hand, reciprocal and rotary (Race) instrumentation.METHODS: In this experimental study 45 extracted human mandibular first molar were selected. The crown was cut at CEJ. The roots were mounted in acrylic resin material. The roots had a 20-40 degree canal curvature. Teeth were randomly divided into 3 groups. Group one was prepared with hand method and NiTi files, group two was prepared with Endogripper handpiece and NiTi files, group three was prepared with Race rotary system. By superimposing the initial file and MAF radiography the apical transportation was evaluated (double exposure radiography method). FINDINGS: Race rotary system (group 3) had prepared canals without transportation and deviation in the original shape of canals. NiTi hand files (group 1) had prepared canals with 8 apical transportations out of 15 root canals. Reciprocal handpiece with NiTi files had prepared canals with 7 apical transportations. Race rotary system was prepared canals with significant the least apical transportations than other groups (p<0.05).CONCLUSION: The results showed that original canal shape in apical region had minimum transportation with race rotary system compare with hand or reciprocal preparation.

Abstract Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor of undetermined etiology, composed of a central zone named nidus which is an atypical bone completely enclosed within a wellvascularized stroma and a peripheral sclerotic reaction zone. There are three types of radiographic features: cortical, medullary and subperiosteal. Forty-four patients with osteoid osteoma were studied retrospectively. In plain films, 35 patients presented as the cortical type, six cases were located in the medullary zone and three had subperiosteal osteoid osteoma. In all the cases, the nidus was visualized on computed tomography (CT) scan. The nidus was visible in four out of five patients who had also undergone magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Double-density sign, seen on radionuclide bone scans was positive in all patients. MRI is more sensitive in the diagnosis of bone marrow and soft tissue abnormalities adjacent to the lesion, and in the nidus that is located closer to the medullary zone. On the other hand, CT is more specific when it comes to detecting the lesion's nidus.
