Abstract Plain fabric structure was analyzed and a predictive model of electromagnetic wave transmission was firstly constructed based on the weighted average method and equations of yarn curved surface, which can be used to predict the wave-transparency of plain fabrics. This model explains that the pitch, porosity, yarn cross-section and thickness of plain fabrics have a mathematical relationship with electromagnetic wave transmission. Five different parameters of S-2 glass fiber plain fabrics were tested in the range of 1∼18 GHz. Wave transmissions were positively correlated with the pitch, porosity and yarn cross-section. Wave transmissions were negatively correlated with thickness. The transmission trends of simulation and measurement were consistent with theoretical results, which proved the correctness of the proposed model.

Abstract Exploring the design strategy of new energetic materials is crucial to promote the development of energetic materials. In this study, a method for designing polycyclic energetic materials is proposed by combining the azetidine structure with azobis-1,2,4-triazole or bi-1,2,4-triazole. A series of typical triazolyl polycyclic compounds were designed and synthesized by simple nucleophilic reaction, which included 5,5'-dichloro-3,3'-bis(3,3'-difluoroazetidine)-4,4'-azobis-1,2,4-triazole (1), 5,5'-dichloro-3,3'-bis(3,3'-difluoroazetidine)-4,4'-bi-1,2,4-triazole (2), 5,5'-dichloro-3-(

Abstract As the basic materials with specific properties, fabrics have been widely applied in electromagnetic (EM) wave protection and control due to their characteristics of low density, excellent mechanical properties as well as designability. According to the different mechanisms and application scenarios on EM waves, fabrics can be divided into three types: EM shielding fabric, wave-absorbing fabric and wave-transparent fabric, which have been summarized and prospected from the aspects of mechanisms and research status, and it is believed that the current research on EM wave fabrics are imperfect in theory. Therefore, in order to meet the needs of different EM properties and application conditions, the structure of fabrics will be diversified, and more and more attentions should be paid to the research on structure of fabrics that meets EM properties, which will be conductive to guiding the development and optimization of fabrics. Furthermore, the application of fabrics in EM waves will change from 2D to 3D, from single structure to multiple structures, from large to small, as well as from heavy to light.

Abstract Based on the wave absorption model of 3D woven fabric and the zero-reflection equations, a new structural design method of 3D electromagnetic (EM) wave-absorbing woven fabrics was obtained. The 3D woven fabrics fabricated by the proposed method had the structure of a bidirectional angle interlock. Continuous S-2 glass fibers were used as the matching layer of this 3D woven fabric, and continuous carbon fibers were used as the absorbing layer. The absorbing layer satisfied the equivalent EM parameters under the condition of zero reflection. The results of the simulation and experiment showed that the performance trends of the 3D wave-absorbing fabric obtained by this method were consistent with the theory, which verified the correctness of the structure design method. The 3D fabrics obtained by this method have the advantages of wide absorbing frequencies and good absorbing performance (-20 dB). This structural design method also has theoretical guiding significance for the development of 3D wave-absorbing fabrics.

Abstract Carbon fiber warp yarns tend to hang due to the gravity in the multi-layer weaving process, which leads to chaotic shedding and impairs fabric quality. The hanging shape of carbon fiber warp yarns is mainly determined by the applied initial warp tension in the weaving process, and excessive warp tension increases the friction between the yarn and the heald frame, resulting in yarn wear. A yarn hanging model based on catenary theory was established to estimate the applied minimum initial warp tension that could ensure clear shedding in the multi-layer weaving process. The relationship between the warp hanging shape and various weaving process parameters (warp tension, yarn specifications and the size of shedding) was obtained. According to the weaving conditions, the applied initial yarn tension could be estimated using the model before manufacturing. Multi-layer yarn hanging experiments were conducted using different specification carbon fibers and yarn tension, and the theoretical predictions and experimental results were compared. The results showed that the yarn hanging model could well simulate the actual hanging characteristics of carbon fiber warp yarn under different tension. The research results provide a tool for estimating the applied initial warp tension in the multi-layer weaving process.

Abstract The partial fiber breaking in the warp yarn of three-dimensional (3D) woven fabrics needs to be urgently reduced considering the large shedding displacement and repeated yarn frictions in the fabricating process. A kinematical model of the heald frame was established in order to analyze the impact and wear of the warp yarn in the shedding process of 3D weaving. The variation tendency of the friction force between the yarn and heddle eye was obtained and the variable acceleration trajectory of the heald frame based on minimizing the friction and impact load on the yarn was derived. The experimental results showed that the fiber breakage rate in one warp yarn using the derived curve trajectory reduced drastically. The research results are beneficial to the theoretical design of the shedding system of weaving machines for 3D woven fabric.

Abstract Atmospheric oxidizing capacity (AOC) is the fundamental driving factors of chemistry process (e.g., the formation of ozone (O₃) and secondary organic aerosols (SOA)) in the troposphere. However, accurate quantification of AOC still remains uncertainty. In this study, a comprehensive field campaign was conducted during autumn 2019 in downtown of Beijing, where O₃ and PM₂.₅ episodes had been experienced successively. The observation-based model (OBM) is used to quantify the AOC at O₃ and PM₂.₅ episodes. The strong intensity of AOC is found at O₃ and PM₂.₅ episodes, and hydroxyl radical (OH) is the dominating daytime oxidant for both episodes. The photolysis of O₃ is main source of OH at O₃ episode; the photolysis of nitrous acid (HONO) and formaldehyde (HCHO) plays important role in OH formation at PM₂.₅ episode. The radicals loss routines vary according to precursor pollutants, resulting in different types of air pollution. O₃ budgets and sensitivity analysis indicates that O₃ production is transition regime (both VOC and NOₓ-limited) at O₃ episode. The heterogeneous reaction of hydroperoxy radicals (HO₂) on aerosol surfaces has significant influence on OH and O₃ production rates. The HO₂ uptake coefficient (γHO₂) is the determining factor and required accurate measurement in real atmospheric environment. Our findings could provide the important bases for coordinated control of PM₂.₅ and O₃ pollution.

Abstract As an important precursor of hydroxyl radical (OH), nitrous acid (HONO) plays a significant role in atmospheric chemistry. Here, an observation of HONO and relevant air pollutants in an urban site of Beijing from 14 to 28 April, 2017 was performed. Two distinct peaks of HONO concentrations occurred during the observation. In contrast, the concentration of particulate matter in the first period (period Ⅰ) was significantly higher than that in the second period (period Ⅱ). Comparing to HONO sources in the two periods, we found that the direct vehicle emission was an essential source of the ambient HONO during both periods at night, especially in period Ⅱ. The heterogeneous reaction of NO₂ was the dominant source in period Ⅰ, while the homogeneous reaction of NO with OH was more critical source at night in period Ⅱ. In the daytime, the heterogeneous reaction of NO₂ was a significant source and was confirmed by the good correlation coefficients (R²) between the unknown sources (Pᵤₙₖₙₒwₙ) with NO₂, PM₂.₅, NO₂ × PM₂.₅ in period Ⅰ. Moreover, when solar radiation and OH radicals were considered to explore unknown sources in the daytime, the enhanced correlation of Pᵤₙₖₙₒwₙ with photolysis rate of NO₂ and OH (JNO2 × OH) were 0.93 in period Ⅰ, 0.95 in period Ⅱ. These excellent correlation coefficients suggested that the unknown sources released HONO highly related to the solar radiation and the variation of OH radicals.
