    Abstract The abundance of gut microbiota is significantly decreased in patients with colorectal tumors compared to healthy groups. However, few studies have been conducted to correlate the differences in gut microbiota in colon cancer patients with different prognosis. In this study, we analysed the gut microbiota among patients with colon cancer and determined the microbial characteristics of COAD and divided the overall survival of COAD data into the high- and low-risk groups. In addition, we established a microbiome-related gene map and determined the association between microbial features and immune cell infiltration in COAD. In comparison with the low-risk group, the high risk group of COAD samples exhibited a decreased proportion of activated CD4 T cells as well as an increased proportion of M2 macrophages. The current data suggested that different gut flora backgrounds lead to different gene expression profiles, which in turn affect immune cell typing and colorectal tumor prognosis.

    Abstract Short response time for order processing is important for modern warehouses, which can be potentially achieved by adopting appropriate processing policy. The parallel processing policy have advantages in improving performance of many autonomous storage and retrieval systems. However, researchers tend to assume a sequential processing policy managing the movement of independent resources in shuttle-based compact storage systems. This paper models and analyses a single-tier of specialized shuttle-based compact storage systems under parallel processing policy. The system is modeled as a semi-open queueing network with class switching and the parallel movement of shuttles and the transfer car is modeled using a fork-join queueing network. The analytical model is validated against simulations and the results show our model can accurately estimate the system performance. Numerical experiments and a real case are carried out to compare the performance of parallel and sequential processing policies. The results suggest a critical transaction arrival rate and depth/width ratio, below which the sequential processing policy outperforms the parallel processing policy. However, the advantage of sequential processing policy is decreasing with the increasing of shuttle number, transaction arrival rate and depth/width ratio. The results also suggest an optimal depth/width ratio with a value of 1.75 for minimizing the expected throughput time in the real system. Given the current system configurations, the parallel processing policy should be considered when the number of shuttles is larger than 2 or the transaction arrival rate is larger than 24 per hour.

    Abstract Agricultural modernization and intensification have been regarded as a significant way to support agricultural development and improve farm income in China. Agricultural cooperatives have played an important role in promoting the modernization and intensification of Chinese agricultural sector. Given the increasing concerns about environmental harm, however, it still remains unclear whether and the extent to which agricultural cooperatives contributes to reducing environmental impacts of agricultural production. Hence, this study performed an environmental evaluation using life cycle assessment for three different organization forms of grape production in Changli County, Hebei Province, China: smallholder farmers, farmer-owned cooperatives and investor-owned firm-led cooperatives. Then the results of life cycle assessment were monetarized and cost benefit analysis was used to evaluate the economic performance of these three organization forms of grape production. The results demonstrate that investor-owned firm-led cooperatives present an overall improvement in environmental and economic performance with the lowest weighted environmental index (integrating all impact categories into a single score), the highest net profit and the highest total net benefit. The results also show a difference in potential improvement in environmental impacts and economic returns between cooperatives and smallholder farmers. Additionally, the production and application of organic and chemical fertilizer and pesticide have been identified as major contributors to total environmental damage.

    Abstract Abstract Background Virtual reality (VR) is an innovation that permits the individual to discover and operate within three-dimensional (3D) environment to gain practical understanding. This research aimed to examine the general efficiency of VR for teaching medical anatomy. Methods We executed a meta-analysis of randomized controlled studies of the performance of VR anatomy education. We browsed five databases from the year 1990 to 2019. Ultimately, 15 randomized controlled trials with a teaching outcome measure analysis were included. Two authors separately chose studies, extracted information, and examined the risk of bias. The primary outcomes were examination scores of the students. Secondary outcomes were the degrees of satisfaction of the students. Random-effects models were used for the pooled evaluations of scores and satisfaction degrees. Standardized mean difference (SMD) was applied to assess the systematic results. The heterogeneity was determined by I 2 statistics, and then was investigated by meta-regression and subgroup analyses. Results In this review, we screened and included fifteen randomized controlled researches (816 students). The pooled analysis of primary outcomes showed that VR improves test scores moderately compared with other approaches (standardized mean difference [SMD] = 0.53; 95% Confidence Interval [CI] 0.09–0.97, p < 0.05; I 2 = 87.8%). The high homogeneity indicated that the studies were different from each other. Therefore, we carried out meta-regression as well as subgroup analyses using seven variables (year, country, learners, course, intervention, comparator, and duration). We found that VR improves post-intervention test score of anatomy compared with other types of teaching methods. Conclusions The finding confirms that VR may act as an efficient way to improve the learners’ level of anatomy knowledge.     Abstract The primary aim of this investigation is to identify the relationship between self-directed teams and high-performance organizations (work). Furthermore, exploring the mediating role of knowledge-sharing culture with the self-directed team and high-performance organization relationships. Moreover, this study analyzed the moderating role of a sense of organizational support in the relationship between knowledge-sharing culture and high-performance organizations. Using the PLS-SEM approach (SmartPLS 3.3.7) in this study, we obtained data from employees of high-tech enterprises listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange China to analyze this study. The present research seeks to determine the direct and indirect effects of the study-related factors on the outcome of the investigation. According to the findings, a self-directed team positively impacts knowledge sharing culture, knowledge sharing behavior, knowledge sharing strategy, and mutual trust among its members. Knowledge-sharing culture has no mediating role and its component in the relationship between independent and dependent constructs. This study also indicated that a sense of organizational support has no moderating effect on the relationship between a knowledge-sharing culture and high-performance organizations. This study may practically contribute to high-tech enterprises to develop and implement business development and proper self-directed team, knowledge-sharing culture, and sense of organizational support, and consequently, can contribute to the growth of overall high-performance organizations.

    Abstract Pseudorabies virus (PRV) is a zoonotic agent that causes significant economic losses in animal husbandry worldwide, and gE-deleted vaccines play an important role in its treatment in the swine industry. However, the potential risk of attenuated PRV strains in commercial vaccines for other hosts remains unclear. Especially, cats are important companion animals for human beings. In this study, we investigated the prevalence and pathogenicity of the PRV wild strain in the cat population. We found that the occurrence of PR diseases in cats is sporadic, that the attenuated PRV strain causes slight clinical signs in cats, and that the virus is excreted 3 days post-infection. Our findings will be beneficial in furthering our understanding of the epidemiology and pathogenicity of PRV in cats and implying the great risk of RPV transmission from pigs to cats.

    Abstract COVID-19 pneumonia requires effective medical therapies. However, it is a challenge to find therapeutic drugs that not only inhibit viral replication, but also inhibit the accompanying cytokine storm and maintain an appropriate immune response. In this study, the effects of SARS-CoV-2 on gene expression in lung epithelial cells from patients with COVID-19 were systematically evaluated with bioinformatics analysis methods. Transcriptome expression specific to bystander (exposed but uninfected) and infected cells were found, and the vital pathways were identified by conducting differentially expressed gene analysis regarding the relationship between gene signatures of COVID-19 infection and disease severity. We found that a high viral load did not necessarily imply a low response of epithelial cells or a poor disease convalescence. The ability to distinguish the role of virus-correlated genes facilitates the development of potential new medicines and therapies for COVID-19 infection.

    Abstract Post-stroke depression (PSD) is a common cerebrovascular complication characterized by complex pathogenesis and poor treatment effects. Here, we tested the influence of differentially expressed genes (DEGs), non-targeted metabolites, and intestinal microbes on the occurrence and development of PSD. We acquired gene expression profiles for stroke patients, depression patients, and healthy controls from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. After screening for DEGs using differential expression analysis, we identified common DEGs in stroke and depression patients that were considered to form the molecular basis of PSD. Functional enrichment analysis of DEGs also revealed that the majority of biological functions were closely related to metabolism, immunity, the nervous system, and microorganisms, and we also collected blood and stool samples from healthy controls, stroke patients, and PSD patients and performed 16S rDNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomics. After evaluating the quality of the sequencing data, we compared the diversity of the metabolites and intestinal flora within and between groups. Metabolic pathway enrichment analysis was used to identify metabolic pathways that were significantly involved in stroke and PSD, and a global metabolic network was constructed to explore the pathogenesis of PSD. Additionally, we constructed a global regulatory network based on 16S rDNA sequencing, non-targeted metabolomics, and transcriptomics to explore the pathogenesis of PSD through correlation analysis. Our results suggest that intestinal flora associates the dysregulation of cerebral cortex gene expression and could potentially promote the occurrence of depression by affecting the metabolism of stroke patients. Our findings may be helpful in identifying new targets for the prevention and treatment of PSD.

    Abstract Major depressive disorder (MDD), especially combined with anxiety, has a high incidence and low detection rate in China. Literature has shown that patients under major depression with anxiety (MDA) are more likely to nominate a somatic, rather than psychological, symptom as their presenting complaint. In the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), clinical symptoms of MDD patients are mainly categorized into two different syndrome patterns: Deficiency and Excess. We intend to use resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) to investigate their brain functional differences and hopefully to find their brain function mechanism. For our research, 42 drug-naive MDA patients were divided into two groups (21 for Deficiency and 21 for Excess), with an additional 19 unaffected participants in the normal control (NC) group. We took Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), and brain fMRI scan for each group and analyzed the data. We first used Degree Centrality (DC) to map the functional differences in brain regions, utilized these regions as seed points, and used a seed-based functional connectivity (FC) analysis to identify the specific functional connection between groups. The Deficiency group was found to have higher HAMD scores, HAMA scores, and HAMD somatic factor than the Excess group. In the DC analysis, significant decreases were found in the right precuneus of both the Deficiency and Excess groups compared to the NC group. In the FC analysis, the right precuneus showed significant decreased network connectivity with the bilateral cuneus, as well as the right lingual gyrus in the Deficiency group when compared to the NC group and the Excess group. Through our research, it was found that precuneus dysfunction may have a relationship with MDA and Deficiency patients have more severe physical and emotional symptoms, and we realized that a larger sample size and multiple brain mode observations were needed in further research.
